I was on a long road trip and looked up Macado's. This location is an a college town. The atmosphere is very friendly and inviting. The menu has so many sandwiches, wraps and other delicious, looking food to select from. I had the Mona Lisa sandwich, and it was so delicious and filling.
Macado's has sitting on the outside and the restaurant is dog friendly for the patio. I highly recommend visiting.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 28, 2017
What a find!
We were driving north on 81 & stopped at s motel nearby. I looked on Yelp & saw this place was rated #1 in the area. I know why!
I had the southwestern salad with fried chicken & it was great. And huge!
My husband had the chicken Parmesan & was pleased as well.
The restaurant is across from the Emory & Henry campus & has a lively & fun feel to it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ariana A.State College, PA4222025Jan 1, 2019
Wonderfully historical spot, ask your wait staff about the history of the building--very cool! Right next to the railroad tracks, we got to catch a train going by while we ate! Delicious food, upbeat mix of contemporary and classic music with a jukebox if you're feeling musically picky or if you like to dance and want a specific song, also the floors are very dance friendly--we checked! The wait staff was attentive, kind and knowledgeable about their extensive, creatively named menu options that were all offered at a fair price! Overall was very satisfied and would give this place an A++++(I won't keep going, because this isn't a Christmas Story, but you get what I'm trying to say here)
Adorable side note, had to take a picture of it, kiddos get balloonsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Geoffrey L.Knoxville, TN51Nov 12, 2022
We waited for 20 minutes and nobody acknowledged our existence. We left and went to a different restaurant.

This place has nice atmosphere and great waiters. The sandwiches we got were AMAZING. There are tons of options. We got the Reuben and the Bobagger sandwiches. We would definitely return to this place.

Just a heads-up before you leave the interstate to eat here... Google maps thinks they're open but they're not.

Pretty good especially considering the lack of options in the area.
On the way to Kentucky helping a friend we needed to recharge and stretch our legs. This spot fit the bill.
The restaurant itself is decorated to look like all the other major chain restaurants. It was nice and clean inside and they have a gigantic bar. The bar looks a little funny though. They don't have liquor so an enormous amount of space is just empty. They only have beer and wine but the bar was clearly designed with liquor in mind.
In any case, onto the food. The menu is huge. Almost too big. When a restaurant has too many options it makes me wonder what they specialize in. Well Macado's specializes in having an enormous sandwich menu.
I ordered the fish taco. I know, I know, you ordered a fish taco at a sandwich place? Well it was pretty good. Nothing fantastic. It was served hot and fresh though. A measurable amount better than fast food. The potato salad it was served with was fine. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor but wasn't offensive by any means.
The service was good. Our waitress was pleasant and could answer all of our questions with confidence. She moved with purpose and our orders all came out correctly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nathan P.Austin, TX23129Jan 18, 2020
Stopped here with my brothers for lunch on the way to Nashville. I don't normally post reviews but this place was a great break from the usual food available just off the highway. Our bartender was great, the beer was cold and my burger was delicious. Definitely worth a stop

The service was a little lacking so minus a star. I felt like I was intruding at first. I needed road food and this was the sign I saw at the time my tummy was yelling. Cool atmosphere. I liked the vintage fans working on a pulley system on the ceiling. The thing is... I was there three weeks ago and I can't tell you what I ate. The food wasn't memorable. Sandwiches of any sort. My tummy was content but it wasn't knock your socks off, just ok.
