Neighbor (sibling?) to "Buthcher" right next door. Great little burger joint with good character.

The menu is simple and high quality. Great beer on offer as well.

Don't expect a huge over thought out burger. Mine was BBQ, bacon, and pickles. But it was perfectly balanced. The fifth star comes from the bun. That bun...

      Don't miss it!

      Small burger joint!
The Brown Burger. No fries, but really good potatoes.

People think Americans are all about their burgers, and a lot of us are, but I never really was a snob about it until I moved to Chicago and became a regular at Publican Quality Meats burger night. After that, even much-raved about burgers didn't stack up anymore.

But I still go around testing all the supposed "best burgers" everywhere I go in France. (Okay, not everywhere. Just like, Lyon, Paris, Montpellier...) And Butcher Brother was definitely on the list.

So we walked all the way down from Croix-Rousse for dinner. It turned out that they only accept tickets resto (little food coupons from your employer that allow you to eat out even when you're poor) at lunch, but we almost didn't care because THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!

I had the Brown Burger and YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD TOO. (Unless you're a vegetarian, in which case this may not be the right restaurant for you. Well, I take that back - they do have vegetarian options. But still.) The Pollos Hermanos chicken burger was tasty too. The burgers come with salad and the most delicious potatoes ever. EVER. I wished that I had two stomachs, one for the burger and one for the potatoes. I may have overeaten that evening. (We took the metro home. No walking up that big Croix-Rousse hill for us.)

The only downside? The burgers are 13-15 euros, which is a little steep. However, burger prices in France can rise all the way to 30 euros (I've seen it! Okay, it was in St. Tropez, but still) so 15 for something so delicious isn't outrageous.

Which brings me to my next point. If you go at lunchtime, you can get a formule, a special lunch menu, that includes a burger, sides, AND a drink (which can be wine). You can get whichever burger you want in the formule for 13,50, or get a simple bacon or cheese burger for 9,90.

Here is my advice to you: spring for the 13,50 menu and get the Brown Burger! (Or you know, whichever burger most appeals to you. No pressure.) I stuck with a simple bacon burger, and I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad - but it didn't live up to Brown Burger. I did appreciate the delicious wine in the fancy glass though!

By the way, this is not really the place to order a well-done burger. I usually order mine à point, medium rare, and the server was like, "Are you sure? You don't want it saignant, bloody? It's good quality meat!" (And it is - if you like your meat bloody, this is the place to do it!)

En gros: Prenez la formule midi à 13,50€ avec le Brown Burger et peut-être un petit verre de vin?

The king of all burgers in Lyon!!
After a half year wondering around the city looking for a descent hamburger in a city full of French restaurants I can proudly say that I found the best burger in town.. The place it self looks very simple however it's very appealing and pleasant.
Besides you can find it's big brother just two steps away where you find an awesome grill house if the normal ground meat patty is not enough for you ;)
      Highly recommended!!

Such a great place. The restaurant is so beautiful from the inside. The service was excellent. No English menu though! But what was really amazing, the burgers!!!! The best so far with a high quality well prepared meat tastes sooooo good! The prices are average of 15€ a burger with tasty home fries and few greens as a salad.

I had the black burger and it was delicious. One of the juiciest, tastiest and complete burgers I have ever eaten. Every single ingredient seemed chosen with care and made for a perfect bite each and every time. Moscow Mule was also a really well crafted cocktail. What else can I say except that from when I placed my order to having my food before me was some of the quickest service I have ever experienced in a sit down joint. Impeccable all around.

One of the most authentic burgers in town. Something very difficult to find in France. Simple setting, reasonable prices and lovely smiling employees.
