This coffee joint has everything, including a fresh juice menu with reasonable prices. The baked goods are vegan friendly and I like the tea selection. There's plenty of outdoor seating with outlets for computers. It's a good place to do a little computer work or just relax with a book.

45 minutes to whip up some banana pancakes and an omelette, while there was literally only one other table in the restaurant? Are you growing the bananas? This is basic short-order cook stuff. There was an awful lot of standing around and chatting in the open kitchen, which we were seated right next to.
Then, the food was mediocre, with legitimately nasty home fries.
Nobody bothered to ask at our table if everything was ok. The standard in this country is once per meal.
And finally, I left the worst tip I've left in a while, and didn't feel bad about it. It's not about the money, on a $30 brunch check. It's about sending a message- dare I say doing them a favor. They need a wake-up call to get their acts together.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Belkis C.Brooklyn, NY1618Sep 17, 2013
My roommates and I have unsuccessfully tried to go here SIX times, and it was closed for five out of the six times. The one time we did make it in, the owner said that they weren't serving food (we had a restaurant.com certificate for $75) but we could come the following week. We mentioned that the phone number on his website was incorrect, and the one on Facebook was always busy. He apologized and said he was out of the country for some time and that they were back on track with regular business hours.
NOPE. Tried again at "regular" business hours 2 more times and we have finally given up. If a business wants to succeed, I think the first important thing is to be open. We will be exchanging our certificate and going to many other fine places in our neighborhood that we love.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Super-Lucky T.Brooklyn, NY398221Apr 2, 2013
uugggghhh!
Everything about this place is 1 star. What a let down.
I was SO EXCITED for them to open when I first heard about and went to this place during the opening night for Bushwick Open Studios last year. It must have different owners because at the time I thought it was going to be a very different establishment than what it turned out to be. (*for what I thought it would be please visit Salad Wheel for food and than Goodbye Blue Monday for drinks & music*)
The place currently has no personality, no concept, no menu, no idea who they are. The space itself is awesome and could thrive under the right management and I wanted to give it two stars for it's sheer size and potential....but I have to deduct a star because of the name.
Bushwick Coffee House? Really? That's your name? This isn't a neighborhood spot that's been here for years... it's a brand new place that moved into a neighborhood home to some of the best coffee in the city (i.e. little skips, wyckoff starr)
This type of place might do OK in the suburbs but if you're new to Bushwick, trust me there are far better options.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Inahya B.Brooklyn, Brooklyn, NY2139Jul 10, 2017
Amazing customer service and smoothies at great prices! Monica was extremely helpful and accommodated me without sermon annoyed or irritated. I would highly recommend and also definitely come back!

I've been to this place time and time again. I do not live far, so it's always that place that's right before i get home that i try and stop through to grab something.
first off, they always take FOREVER with everything. I get take-out and i'm there for 20 minutes, MINIMUM... when NOBODY is in there. Nobody seems to know what's going on.
and then the space. what a waste of space.
and i agree with the other review. this place has no focus, no identity... it's all over the place.
when i went for bushwick open studios i spoke with a chick who said this would be a healthful food restaurant. it totally is NOT. the food sucks. and none of it is healthy. the coffee is subpar, and the management is clueless.
i had high hopes for this location. the space is huge and has tons of potential. if it closes down, i may look into taking it over myself.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gemma L.Brooklyn, NY019Apr 19, 2013
I'm trying to refrain from writing negative reviews because I think the majority of people only write reviews when they've had a horrible time, and not for the good times. So I figured I leave the negative reviews up to others. But I HAD to write a review about this place.
I started going here for coffee when they first opened and they had an adorable and very talented barista who made me want to come back time and time again. So I did. Their coffee wasn't the best, but she knew how to work their machine and it was very good, especially for the lack of coffee in that immediate area. Everyone I knew in the area would go there only for coffee from her.
Everything else about the place is odd, though. Once I got an egg/cheese croissant and it was disgusting. I couldn't even eat it. It was the same quality you'd get at a cheap bodega anywhere, only a couple bucks more expensive. Their muffins and counter food looks like it comes out of a package or from Restaurant Depot or Costco or something.
The energy of the owners (I assumed were owners) was strange. Not owners you'd really want to interact with. I could tell how mismanaged they were just being a customer there observing.
Once the barista left I stopped going. Then I found out the owners don't pay their employees. Or at least one employee that kept their business going, working so hard 7 days a week for many months. Now THAT is Bullsh*t. So I will NEVER go back. And I actively tell people not to go. And how horrible the owners are. I can never support an establishment that doesn't pay their employees.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cassandra B.Brooklyn, NY144910391Apr 24, 2013
I haven't yet had the food so I can't comment on that but I stopped in for tea recently and had a lovely evening. They recently started doing a games night on Friday nights so I stuck around and played board games with some other people from the neighborhood.
While I agree that this business is still trying to find its focus and see what works in this space, I really like that
1) the service is friendly
2) the menu is diverse (though not consistent), offering interesting items like tofu & asparagus tacos
3) the clientele is very diverse (unlike most of the bars or coffee shops in the neighborhood, which are either all Latino men or all young gentrifiers)
4) the owner seems genuinely interested in sourcing locally-grown produce and offering healthy options to the community.
I hope that the coffee shop is able to find its focus and get it together because they really do have the potential to be a great hangout.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ben A.Brooklyn, NY2361Oct 14, 2014
Food was terrible; even worse, the place is a coffee shop and they can't make a good cup of coffee. I threw it out.
Will not be coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Y. S.Brooklyn, NY19Oct 5, 2014
Toast was cold; my overpriced beverage watered down ($6.00 straight to the garbage!!). I think I'll go for my future breakfasts at a cleaner establishment that actually knows how to toast bread. It's really not rocket science.
Will certainly never be returning here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
