Q:
Dress code....for both men and women?
A:
There isn't a particular dress code. The pub upstairs is causal. The Catacombs are a bit chillier being underground, expect mid to upper 50's. I would suggest pants and long sleeve if you aren't a fan of cooler atmosphere.

Are there gluten free options within the entree menu ? It looks like a few items are naturally gluten free.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Bube's! Make sure to make a reservation at their dining in the catacombs, because this experience is truly one of a kind.
The experience starts off with a little tour of the catacombs and parts of what the building started off as - a hotel. You end with being seated in a very aesthetic area of the catacombs. Our waiters were very nice, and even compensated part of the meal as the some of the food took very long to come out. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure to check on us!
The food was really good - the salmon and chicken entrees were delicious. The bruschetta appetizer was also tasty. While waiting for our table, the bar is available for you to order drinks: their holiday drinks are tasty, especially the gingerbread spiced ones!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2023
Do you like haunted vibes, dusty bottles, basement hangs, a cool, well-stocked bar, year-round halloween decorations, and a tasty variety of housemade beers? Bube's (purportedly pronounced "boo-bees") might be the place for you.
Bube's is a unique. I mean, where else in PA can you dine in catacombs? Their complex houses both a bar and biergarden, as well. I think they also offer an array of eclectic lodging? It's basically a one stop shop - and it's reportedly haunted! COOL! Their chalkboard highlights nightly events ranging from trivia to open mic to karaoke. It's a great place to hang with a group or dine solo, with a little something for everyone.
I tried the Irish Cream Stout and Rice Lager - both refreshing, flavorful, and good quality beers. We munched on some spicy battered shrimp and pretzel nuggets with cheese sauce - satiating snacks. Their broader food menu had way more options than what was online, with lots of different of sandwiches, pasta dishes, and entrees.
The bar service left a little to be desired. It was slow when we popped in, and there was a number of staff just hanging around behind the bar. They were all nice enough, it was just a little...bizarre. Nothing that would stop me from coming back, though.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Robin G.Clifton Heights, PA016Feb 15, 2024
My Fiance and I had been wanting to visit here since hearing about it through friends . After viewing the website we were thrilled to learn more about the history and it said we would receive a tour . The history for sure we thought would add to our experience. We had a two hour drive one way to visit . We secured a 8:50 pm reservation for a Friday night . We were not seated until 9:30 pm . Not a word was said to us by staff about the wait ect . Not one fact about the establishment was said on our walk to be seated . Dinner was average .
The service was good . My fiancés steak wasn't cooked how he asked . For a $ 50 steak I expected more . This was a early
Valentines dinner for us . Disappointed after being so excited to visit here and letting co-workers ect know of our bday plans they to where curious about the brewery .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Naomi L.Philadelphia, PA1333266Dec 29, 2023
Photos do not do this place justice! It is just too cool! The staff were all very accommodating and provided us with so much information on the history. The bar area is fun and has a lot of charm. The catacombs are very unique and romantic. They even gave us a tour with our catacombs reservation. The food was superb. I loved the lobster bisque and it had plenty of lobster in it. The risotto was very creamy and perfectly cooked. I was so impressed by this place, and cannot wait to come back!

The bar food was sub par. The grilled chicken sandwich was way over cooked and I had a hard time eating it. The Philly was also overcooked and too dry to eat. The staff was friendly but absent. This was the second time I tried this wonderful looking and historic building but it fell short again. Sadly I will not be returning to this establishment.

This is a must-do! The whole damn place was awesome. Our server, Kier, was great. Our table was pre-set with glasses filled before we sat down. Super romantic. Food was outstanding. My wife ordered the salad and NY strip and I ordered the lobster bisque and Pork tomahawk. We were blown away by the amount of lobster in the bisque and the size of her salad. We also got a couple Bellinis and the peanut butter cake. It's not cheap but worth every penny. If we lived in the area, we would most definitely be regulars. Dress nice and make reservations. Great job, Bube's!

Really liked the atmosphere and ambiance of the room. Entry was behind a yellow barn-looking door, opened up to a cellar-musty-stone-broody looking area. We went upstairs with our party of 8. Was really warm upstairs. The cocktails and food were pretty good. Our waitress seemed stressed and flustered tending to us and her other tables, getting us our drinks and ensuring they all came out together, forgetting a drink or two, sounding frustrated she forgot one or bothered to be asked for another. Price was alright. Probably won't go back as I know the cocktails were alright and the food was ok, service was just a bit underwhelming for how busy it wasn't.

We drove from NJ for a two night getaway and for dinner at the Catacombs Restaurant.
The atmosphere is truly unique. It started with a welcoming tour by Janae who was very friendly and had lots of information to share. She made us feel very welcome. Being in a cave with soft lighting is romantic! and Tristan the server was excellent--but, important message to the kitchen,
PUT DOWN THE SALT SHAKER!!!
We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms and they were so salty!!! There is no reason for that much salt (and I am someone who likes salty).
I had the filet with blue cheese--it was OK, but overpriced. My husband enjoyed his seafood pasta.
The beer was very good.
But, by far the part that bothered me the most was how dirty it is where we were eating. You might say, it's in a cave!! of course it's going to be dirty. But that's not what I mean. Above us, the mini-split AC/Heat unit was filthy. I kept looking up and hoping it wouldn't turn on. And there was a terrible smell of old grease every where. Anyone who has ever worked in food services knows what I mean by that old grease smell of not fully cleaning the tables/ chairs/ floor around you. There is glass on top of the tables, but you still have to have clean tableclothes and they didn't seem fresh to me.
After dinner, we thought we would go to the Biegarten for a drink. We asked if it was OK to go in just for a drink and while we were initially welcomed in by Janae, the atmosphere turned weirdly unfriendly once she left. We didn't know where to sit, tried to talk to the bartended but ended up just leaving.
Would I suggest you visit? It depends on how strong your desire is for a unique dining experience. I read about the Catacombs and wanted to experience it. But I would only go back if I knew they improved the food and did a deep steam cleaning.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hilary G.Salem, MA023Feb 11, 2024
My friend came to PA and I wanted to do something special and different. We got the only reservation left at 9:20PM on Saturday night before Valentine's Day. We had great service and it's beautiful. My steak was undercooked and the sever took it right back to the kitchen... which by the way is stairs and stairs away from the catacombs! My heel got stuck in the stairs so many times! The little tour in the beginning was very cute. They took $20 off our bill for the steak which wasn't necessary, but very much appreciated. And I left my purse in the catacombs and some wonderful man very much out of breath got it to me in the parking lot. It was a wonderful experience for both of us, thank you to the employees for making it wonderful. And thank you for the rose!

Update.. Biergarten so relaxing and majestic.
There salads are fresh & delicious. French fries are the BEST!!! French dip, wish it was on ciabatta roll instead. Meat was tender and flavorful. The roll they use now can't hold up.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Jan 16, 2022Previous reviewWe usually eat in the Catacombs, but today we ate in the Bottling Works.
I had a Chocotini - delicious!! It was a glass and a half pour. Their martini glasses are probably from the 50's so they were smaller than normal so probably the reason for half glass next to it. yummo! Would get again. My hubby had an IPA he liked-there was a triple IPA -13% alcohol - we are going to try next time. They make their own beer here too as well as offer other types.
We had the Alois fries. The bacon bits made this be a shining starter.
Hubby got the Poutine Fries. The gravy on that needs to be bottled and sold-smack your mama good. The cheese curds on this were melted which is how we like it but if you're from Canada that's a no-no. I had the Mac & cheese with pork which was very rich and huge portion. . Leftovers for 2 days.
Loved our waitress, Haley. She was such a dear.
