We love stopping by to chat with the owner, such a fun, friendly person! Picked up some Idyllbeast souvenirs, too :)

Steve owns and operates this mountain gem. He's got just about everything you need at a great price: firewood, books, vinyl, sports jerseys (in really great condition, if not new.)
He's usually open late (until 10pm), so swing by for a visit and a chat. Nicest guy on the hill and he knows his books! And sports! I always swing by when I'm in town.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alyssa D.Torrance, CA2164010Oct 9, 2021
Came across this cute little shop on our way back from our hike. Talked to the owner, Steve, and he is just the nicest guy I think I have ever met. I talked to Steve for most of our visit, and found he was originally from my hometown. Not only does he have a great collection of books, but he also has a lot of great "random" things. My partner was able to get a nice basketball jersey, and a vintage book for her collection. It's cash or personal check (Steve is an old fashioned guy) so just a heads up. We will be paying a visit to our new friend anytime we are in the area.

It is only a place for book worms that can not be shy about digging out gems or rare books. Steve will trade books. You can also ask him for a specific author your in search for. My favorite is to stop in after a hike. Steve is very friendly and has a extended trinket store 2 shops next door. But that's another story to tell you later.
Most are paper back but it does vary season to season. It's never the same selection of books.
Paperback $1
Hardback $3
Rare books maybe $4
Cash only
Trade in books or store discounts
It is a hole in the wall nothing fancy. Steve has read most of the books he sells so his conversation are not only funny but academic. His open all the time that I've stopped in but he is the owner and he does what ever he wants with hours. His usually found at his trinket shop next door. He floats around and you can't blame him. His in the middle of Idyllwild pines and beautiful skies. It's like a wrinkle in time visiting Steve.
I proudly suggest to visit Steve stores and especially his books . It's like a treasure hunt. EnjoyHelpful 7Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Cyndi S.Kalama, WA010Jul 31, 2021
This is the first store I went into when I visited Idyllwild. I did not know what would be waiting for me on the other-side of this experience, but upon entrance to this unique store, I was greeted by one of the most charming individuals I have ever met in Southern California. Visiting the store is less about the shopping experience than it is getting to meet the owner who is an absolute character in his own right. Bubba is worth the trip!!!

Best place in Idyllwild! Bubba is so nice and worth hanging out with that it doesn't matter if you need something or not!
Cool records, unique antiques, and great company! The prices are so low that you feel guilty.
We look forward to visiting Idyllwild every year and Bubba's is a huge part!!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 30, 2011First to Review
Bubba. A little on the eccentric side, but a true lover of books. Been there at the same hole in the wall place for decades, a corporate escapee.
Bubba. He'll buy your books, sell you used books, and talk your arm off if you let him. Let him. He's an interesting guy.
Bubba. Don't expect much in the way of organization, although recently he has made a concerted effort to expand and separate into sections better. This is a great place for finding that book that you lost 30 years ago, or getting a quick read read while you detox in Idyllwild.
Bubba. Go visit him. He represents the true laid back flavor of Idyllwild.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Cynthia A.Los Angeles, CA07Apr 19, 2017
I don't really do reviews but Steve is the sweetest! He will help you find any book your looking for and will even give you advice on places to visit in Idylwild if your ever in town you should definitely visit this place. You will find all sorts of book, and vintage items.
