We stopped in before a dolphin tour next door. Only had time for apps; scallops, gumbo, & fried shrimp. All were very good. Returned for more food after the tour, scallops again, couple burgers/fries, AND, the hush puppies. Again, all were very good. My daughter said the key lime pie was the best of the trip. She's a connoisseur of key lime pie. Not sure when we'll be back to Tybee Island, but if we do, we'll definitely be back. I have to add, the staff were busy, but still very friendly and accommodating.

We are here in Tybee visiting and I am in charge of food for our group. I chose Bubba Gumbo's because it was off the beaten path. Our server, Jim, made great choices for us to sample. The fried shrimp had the lightest batter on it and the shrimp were fresh caught. The blackened grouper I had was divine and the seasoned fries went perfect with it. My family had hush puppies, crab cakes, and two grilled cheese off the kids menu. Nothing disappointed! To top it all off, a succulent piece of key lime pie. The outside seating on a pier was awesome and the crowd around us was laid back and fun. I would have given six stars if I could have. Don't miss this culinary gem.

Absolutely the worst. Please stay away. Leave room for me to get a table anytime I want to go to Bubba Gumbo's.
Started out with fish chowder. Creamy deliciousness I haven't had in a long time.
I got fried shrimp as well. The Mrs got blackened. Both were perfect.
Be advised. It's is an active fishing marina. It has a smell. The indoor booth was slightly sloped towards the dock.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 1 - Mar 8, 20241 check-in
Not gonna lie..... I'm a bit disappointed . I didn't have the highest expectations but man, I'm still displeased nonetheless. So I ended up getting hush puppies, a crab cake and the gumbo of course. The hush puppies were great. They had a hint of sweetness to them, which I loved. This was my first time trying a crab cake and it just further solidified my feelings on not caring for crab meat. Now for the gumbo, it lacked flavor in my opinion. Not only that, but when I clean shrimp, I remove all "impurities"..... that was not the case for their shrimp which made me nauseous . Service was fine and the inside is pretty small and cozy.

What a great place to eat! Steamed Shrimp was the best I ever had! Grilled snapper and hush puppies! I can't say enough about the good service, view and seafood!

Local spot right on the water with fishing boats lined up. We sat at the small bar to avoid a wait for a table. Appetizers: the hush puppies were great, the scallops were good but were overwhelmed by the garlic cheese sauce. Entrees: fried shrimp and peel & eat shrimp were wonderful. Long wait for food because only 1/3 of the grill was working.

We are locals and this was our first time at bubbas. Over all the shrimp and fish were fresh and the waitress was very hospitable. A couple of things that were annoying. The sweet tea was terrible, not sure if it was the blend of tea or the water they use. Maybe need a better filter or something. However if you can't make sweet tea then..... also we also got a wafting smell of sewer or garbage while sitting outside, which I first thought was the Marsh but it was not. The place needs to tighten up a bit. However not sure I will come back. Again got to have decent sweet tea to be legit.

This place was so good we ended up going twice during our 3 night stay on Tybee (we originally were going to drive into Savannah for dinner but we loved this place so much!). The first night I got the grilled grouper, as did my BF, and we both agreed it was absolutely fantastic. We also got the steamed shrimp app which was amazing! I'm from the Mid Atlantic region up
north and I can say these shrimp were something else! The cocktails were also good and very strong (which I like, but I know some may not). The second night I got the grilled flounder and my BF got the "special" that night (blackened mahi mahi with plantains and coconut rice). Both meals were also very good, although I thought the grouper the first night was a tad better :) The service was a tad slow as they were packed but still very friendly and honestly, I was totally ok with it bc we sat outside on the marina during sunset and it was beautiful! 10/10 would recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dani H.Tampa, FL78581Mar 26, 2024
The spot is super cute. Brunch was good. The only unfortunate part was our waitress was a bit fussy. I simply ask what kind of bagels they had, and basically was told that I was getting whatever they had then my husband asked his options for eggs and was again basically told he was getting however, they were doing them. There was no substitutions no changes if she told us that once she told us that 15 times ended up coming across a bit rude. The food was good. We will give it another chance.
