Review from Ian S.
These cats are pretty amazing. It's like magic.
I got a surprise final job interview with some salesmen to appear in San Francisco where everyone was for that Friday. I realized that, after my last recovery from an annoyingly persistent injury, my suits didn't fit me correctly. Problem.
Think they'll wait for a final interview with all of the players until after I've cut and pumped myself back into order? I doubt it.
"Hi. I realize that it's Thursday afternoon, but I'd like to come down there and get something new and altered still today. Is that at all possible?"
'Well. Wait. What time is it? Hmm. Yes, if you get down here right away.'
I ran down and had a couple of drinks at Vessel while I waited for them to get me together for jetsetting interviewing.
Someone once told me that if you're not on a coast, the criteria is if you're wearing a suit. On the coasts, it's about what kind of suit you're wearing. You're sending a message.
Given my line of work and the way I like to get things done, my answer to this is something fairly British (BB) or German (Hugo), a non white shirt, and no tie. Decent, but not the best shoes. Sometimes, an interesting but subtle accent like cufflinks, a tie restraint, or a pocket square.
Never a lapel pin. Those make you look like a pundit.
So bam bam. Same day service and I had most of the look I wanted to convey to the suits.
I mean, sometimes the guy who is best can wear a hoodie with a punk rock t-shirt, not shave, and still swing the gig, but why stack the deck in an opposing favor? Why not dress like you know what it means, tell them in their terms what you can do for them, and keep your cool. Might as well do it while channeling the power of a serious pinstripe. -

I needed a lightweight suit for a summer wedding, and chose to go to this Brooks Brothers partly on the strength of the reviews of the service here. Maybe the staff has changed recently, but I have to say I was unimpressed. Nothing terrible, just not five-star quality.
When I walk into a fine clothing store, it can't take long to realize I'm a guy who could use a bit of advice pairing shirts and ties. Here, even after asking some leading questions about shoe colors, I got a fairly useless "whatever you want" response. Hands-off is fine, but sometimes you want a little help. Compare this with certain BB's in east coast cities, where I've walked in, been asked (unobtrusively) if I needed any help, and walked out with a sharp shirt in less than 5 minutes.
One bit of warning: watch out for the tailor. The pants I picked off the rack had a 36-inch waist (selection was limited). I'm a 31, but ok, no problem, just take it in a bit. Two weeks later, and three days before the wedding, I came back to find the pants still had at least a couple inches to go. Worse, the tailor had a look at me wearing her handiwork, and even after feeling the extra room in the waist, she gave me a thumbs up and said "Looks good!" Fortunately, one of the salespeople (Lisa?) came to my rescue and got her to finish the job on time.
In the end, I got a good deal on a nice-looking suit, so I'm not complaining. Just not raving either. -

Service. Service. Service.
Remember at a certain large chain when you would get greeted immediately? When you had to not worry about anything while shopping?
Go to Brooks Brothers.
I was lucky enough to help with an event here that benefited Gilda's Club and the staff here were amazingly accommodating. Especially Jane. She always checked up to make sure I was ok, that I had what I needed.
And the stuff here is cute! -

If you go shopping here, ask for Jane. I believe she is one of the managers at BB and has been real helpful every time I go in here. She helped me go through all the BB shirts to find a collar/fit combination that I could live with.
The tailor at the store also did a nice job on a sports coat I bought at the "346" store in Tulalip, which is really the place to go if you like BB clothes, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg. The "346" stores are Brooks Brothers "hip, young" line of clothes, which essentially will make you look like your dad and not your grandfather. -

I needed some cuff links to match my tie at my sister;s wedding. So in I went, I bought some knots, four sets for 20 bucks, amen brother.
Brooks brothers makes some gorgeous clothing, very traditional, but oh so nice. The folks at this store were very professional, very polite and very helpful.
The store was large, tasteful, and well stocked. Casual wear, shirts and ties upstairs, Suits and sport coats downstairs.
Very classy.
This store came through in the clutch when I needed a new shirt one hours before the wedding. Stupid bad dry cleaner and a silly stain I never saw. -

Do your wallet a favor and keep driving north on I-5 to the Tulalip Seattle Premium Outlets and go to the Brooks Brothers outlet store. You'll save up to half on things like overcoats, suspenders, belts, socks and ties.
Personal favorites: The non-iron dress shirts (they do require some starch and ironing to look super crisp, but it only takes about 60 seconds to iron a shirt), and the calf length dress socks (I hate pulling up my socks). -

I was impressed. How many stores actually greet you at the door, offer to take your measurements for fitted shirts, and dress like professionals? Not many. Especially here in baseball hat and jeans land.
I went there to inquire about suits, and a gentlemen named Eric went out of his way to help me decide which would be the best suit; they offer about 4 styles, each suited (no pun intended) to the correct your build, style. He wasn't the least bit "salesman-ey." You could tell he knew the brand and respected it, and it showed.
Another woman at the counter rung me up. A beautiful brunette with an Italian accent. I could have listened to her read the phone book.
Yes, go there. Great place, and the only one like it in Seattle. -

Top notch service every time I visit and buy or browse. They couldn't be more professional and accomodating to my needs. The pricing, especially during their sale, is really reasonable especially for suits. A real pleasurable experience.

A lot is made of the helpful service here, but there's a flipside that's just as important - if you tell them you don't need help, they respect it, back off, and don't hover. None of that Men's Warehouse bs where they stand near you, waiting for you to fail at the extremely straightforward task of buying your own clothes. That's real service - not outright neglect, like you get a lot of places, but not baldfaced commission chasing either.

The stars are for the store, not the clothing. I've been to this store several times, and received excellent service each time. You might think this is because BB is upscale or something like that, but this is not the case. I've purchased from BB stores in northern California and had interesting experiences each time. Seattle's pretty lucky to have one of the better staffed BBs.
