Breakers specializes in a pacific rim-style seafood. In this modern world many people are looking for healthier options for lunch and dinner and we aim to bring this to them. Whether its oysters on the half shell, or a mahi filet with our famous pineapple mango chutney, you will be delightfully surprised by our menu. Our lunch menu is very reasonably priced with a starting price of $5.95 while at the same time you can grab one of our one pound colossal lobster tails. Keep in mind our Saturday night live music scene as well as our late night happy hour and weekend dinner specials. We hope to see you soon

My wife and I happened to be passing by this place and decided to give it a try. We arrived around 3 in the afternoon and the first thing we noticed was that the smoking area appeared to be right in front of the main entrance. We had to walk through a group of people smoking to enter the restaurant. (And later, exiting.
Once inside, we noticed only 2 other tables had been seated and assumed it was because of the early afternoon time. We were seated promptly and, once seated, our drink orders were taken. While we waited for our drinks, I decided to check in via Yelp and discovered the low ratings given to this site. I looked around and thought to myself that the ambience was pleasant and wondered why the low ratings. After reading a few, my wife and I decided we would, as we always do, give the place a fair shake and ignore the ratings for now.
I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and the calamari (we "always" have to try the calamari wherever we go to try and find the best) and both orders arrived very quickly. While my wife took her sweet time trying to decide what she wanted off the wide selection of seafood dishes on the menu, I dove into my clam chowder...it was delicious! Even my wife, who really doesn't care for chowder, said it was very good.
Next we tried the calamari and were both stunned at how good it was. We had to admit that, of the dozens of places we've tried calamari around the United States, this was at or near the best in flavor, texture, and preparation. It was complimented with small containers of ranch dressing and what I can only describe as a combination of marinara and salsa. Very good!
Now, we get to the heart of my low rating...my wife finally decided what she wanted to have and we placed our orders for Mahi Mahi and salmon. And we waited. And waited. And our waitress stopped by and apologized for how long the order was taking about 20 minutes after it was put in. And we waited. And waited some more, never seeing our waitress again until, 45 minutes after our order had been placed, I got up and walked back to the kitchen where I ran into our waitress bringing out our dishes.
I let her know we couldn't wait any longer because of a previously scheduled visit to a relative at a local hospital. I told her we were ready to go and needed our ticket. Her excuse to us was that the kitchen had misplaced our order. I could probably forgive that if it wasn't for all the reviews that mentioned long wait times for food deliveries. That, and the fact we were only one of three tables with patrons sitting at them.
In summary, after reading the reviews about how slow the service was, we wanted to give the place a fair chance and did. And they disappointed yet again. While the food that we had was delicious, the wait time between placing our dinner order and it's delivery was unacceptable.
The manager should start reading some of the reviews and see if there is something they have in common (to eliminate those "planted" reviews) and try to correct these kind of issues.
We want to try the main dishes but are too afraid to deal with the extremely long wait times for our food.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy H.Houston, TX05031Jun 2, 2023
Oysters on the half shelf were mostly good; a couple large bitter ones. The corn in the shrimp and grits was not fully cooked but it's a good dish. The hot wings and fries and always hot and fresh. The service was amazing as usual! Love the music and casual vibes.

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars it is so much better than that. Maybe folks decor expectations are too high.
We went to this place based on the better reviews and were not disappointed. We went for our 36th Anniversary and had a great time.
Is it fancy... No. Did it need to be... Again No.
Our waitress was top notch, made us feel welcome and didn't overdo it or mother hen us but was there whenever we needed.
We had the Oyster Sampler, the Rockefeller was our favorite. I also love when a place has a Caesar salad as one of the options.
My wife and I decided to split two meals because we both love seafood and steak. She got the Surf and Turf with the Lobster and the 14oz Ribeye cooked a little over our Rare request, but tender and delicious, along with asparagus and green beans. I got the Seafood Sampler with Lobster, Crab, Shrimp and Asparagus and Green beans.
The have a full bar but sadly no craft beer, so I was disappointed in that. Settled for a Sierra Nevada pale ale to start, then switched to a Shiner Bock and finished up with a Maker's Mark neat. My wife had Moscato.
My only real complaint was that the place was cold and cold air blew on us all night. Not really cold but enough to quickly chill our drawn butter and seafood. I never felt the need for a jacket but it was a bit annoying.
All in all a great time and will be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Benjamin C.Dallas, TX221114496Aug 29, 2021
We were in the mood for some oysters and debating kn whether we should make a trek over to Shreveport, but opted to try out Breakers instead.
Walking in, the decor is fun and whimsical and the hostess seated us promptly.
Our server Jerrod was quite friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, which is always nice, since he was able to make good recommendations.
We started off with a Pina colada, which was $15, but you essentially get two drinks. While it wasn't too strong, it was quite balanced and tasty. We loved it!
For appetizer we ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, which were wonderfully fresh and sweet and came with lemons, horseradish and cocktail sauce, and tobasco. I had to commend them for making a simple and delicious cocktail sauce. A lot of places use some cheap overly sweet mess of a sauce, but this was delicious.
We also ordered 6 oysters Rockefeller - these we're great too. The breadcrumbs and creamy spinach baked into those fresh oysters were definitely a winning combination.
For our entree we ordered the fish and chips and butterfly shrimp with sweet potato and regular fries. Both were crispy and tender, the fries were crisp and fluffy on the inside, and the sweet potato fries were great too. Jerrod gave us some sort of pepper ranch (?) which went really well with the sweet potato fries.
All in all, we had a great experience and will definitely come back!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Joanie T.Lindale, TX01055Jun 19, 2023Updated review
Calamari great coating, crispy but tough! Seafood pasta, very watery, weak flavor; if sauce were reduced properly would had more flavor. Service prompt. Go for the $5-$10 drinks, ok local place for a drink, not food! Food on $$$ side...
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 27, 2020Previous reviewHype about this place must have been long ago. Food below average, tuna tower not fresh ingredients. Service as though we are bothering then by coming in-at all. Needs updated & cleaned. Noticed "regulars" bellied up to bar/ counter seemed to be there to drink w waitresses.

Went last night. The service was awful and the food was even worse!! The red snapper was fishy and couldn't eat it! They were not busy at all, imagine that! We won't go back, and I won't give it even 1 star rating!! Don't waste your time and money on this place!!!!!

There's much to like about this little restaurant: the snapper was very fresh and cooked nicely, as were our 3 sides, squash, Brussels, and rice pilaf. My wife cannot eat gluten, milk/cream, onion or garlic. Both our server, Nicole (she was terrific!), and the chef were very serious about making things work for her. They were out of Pinot Noir, which is our seafood wine of preference, but the wines by the glass we chose in its place were good. The building itself and the decor could best be described as family friendly down to earth. Our tab was $75 before tip. This is a solid choice for a reasonably priced local non-chain seafood restaurant.

We've driven by Breakers many times since moving here in 2021 and finally decided to pop in for dinner. Based on our two visits, service was friendly, helpful, and really made us feel comfortable. The food was excellent and when something was served prepared incorrectly, the server was apologetic, speedy to correct the problem, and kind about it. It's definitely a local "joint" where locals hang out at the bar and outside which only adds to the charm of the place. We'll definitely be back!

Hard to find fried clams deep in the heart of east Texas. But, not only were they on the menu, clams were about the cheapest meal offered. $6.95 for a heaping basket of clams with sweet potato fries. Attentive service, fair selection of beer & full bar. Restrooms were spotless & the restaurant was clean. Menu was standard seafood & a variety oysters along with burgers & a few sandwiches.
Daily specials & happy hour. Wasn't the greatest seafood but hey, it is Tyler TX, not a coastal town. Food was 3 stars, service & price 4 stars. Recommend.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kimberly W.Tyler, TX012May 5, 2022
