Only one side has windows, so there isn't a lot of natural light, and if you want to take the stairs, good luck because the door is locked -- go figure the people who are working out might want to make healthier choices.

Nearly everything is old, but they do have everything you could possibly want.

If another gym opens in the area, I know a lot of people will switch (locker room talk during the great no hot water period of winter).

Being new to the city, I decided to give BSC a shot since they had some great deals going on and it wasn't too far away from my new apartment. The gym itself was alright, nothing special. Equipment needed an upgrade and it could've been cleaner, but the place got the job done.

I should've listened to the reviews (and news) about how poorly managed this company is. I signed up for a spin class on 11/30 and received confirmation for it. When I arrived to the gym, I was greeted by this note saying that they were permanently closed. I'm extremely disappointed that they did not notify me of the closure, but then again, they've pulled this with multiple other locations. I'm glad the Massachusetts Attorney General is seeing to this and my fingers are crossed that I get my refund.

Would've been nice to receive an email BEFORE I signed up for a class and made my way there.

I've been a member at the BSC Fenway for about a year now. The facilities are decent and price to location is something I don't have much choice about in the Fenway area. That being said, I'd check your monthly statements for charges. They don't send out any emails of any kind when they charge you so it's sketchy.

Really surly customer service from the start when I called to ask about charges being made to my card. Some Robert/Richard asked my name and upon giving it to him he goes "Are you sure you signed up at the Fenway location? Because there are 4 pages of people with your name." as if he didn't want to look for it or think I must be one of those 4 pages of people.

I don't think he even found my record. He didn't ask me for anymore information while he 'scrolled through the pages' (birth date, CC info, nothing). I was just trying to help him and mentioned I joined about this time last year and he realized I got charged my annual membership fee - but said it in the following manner "Well you just answered your own question, that $69.99 is your annual membership fee" and then when I asked about the increased charge the previous month (I signed up for a $26.99/month rate and I noticed a $36.99/month charge) he told me they "sent an email in June" notifying people of the increase.

I must have not been the only person to call and ask about it because his follow-up was "a lot of people either missed the email because they weren't paying attention or it went to spam." I checked my email and had no email of any sorts - inbox, spam, and trash. Real sketch business move and just bad attitude towards answering simple customer questions. The minute another gym opens up in this area that's affordable and in walking distance, I'm definitely out of here. Keep an eye on your statements people.

I have been to several gyms in many cities. This is the worst. It creates a new standard of "worst gym".

This was my first time and last time to visit this gym. I came for a tour first to decide if I want to sign up. However, the front desk required all my information including name, home address, phone number, email address and even my license ID. Plus, she said everything with an upset face and impatient attitude. She has been elected to be the worst front desk staff I have ever met in 10 years.

The manager I met looked like a garage grandpa. After he shook my hand, he wiped his hand on his pants. Calm down grandpa! I take showers twice a day and wear Hermès cologne. I did not wipe down the sweat from your sweaty hand because I want to show some respect. In addition, the general manager wore a white sweat tank and a pair of red basketball shorts with his tattoo showing on his whole body. I was shocked by their unprofessional outfit and attitude.

The trainers here were either "out of shape" or inexperienced. The equipment looked like they were from 2000. There was a sour and weird smell while I went further down in the gym.

After the tour, I asked for the membership rate, because I thought at least they could shock me with a reasonable price. However, the manager said "the price I can give you for today is $35/month with just a $70 yearly fee." I said I need some time to think about it. He replied instantly that the price might go higher tomorrow. Lmao! What is this? Stock market? Insurance company? Playing this kind of low business trick on me? Did you learn this from some Google business articles? Way to go!

I honestly feel sad for the members at this gym. I decide to search for some other gyms immediately even they are further.

One star is too much for this place
It's horrible and they have no idea about customer service

      Postscript 3

Letter to manager returned as 'undeliverable'. A look in window appears to show signs of closing up. This club does not give the appearance that it intends to ever open up again and honor any credits or refunds due to members. I wish the AG office would bring criminal charges.

      Postscript 4.

Received email from Fenway manager stating I could only cancel my membership via us mail to him. I called gym to confirm correct address. Letter returned undelivered twice by us mail.

I cannot imagine their business strategy to try to get long time members such as myself to return.

While I had some great workouts with some great trainers (thanks Rich!!) BSC is not the best gym overall. The place is small, stinks, and the most popular equipment isn't well maintained. There is no wifi in most sections either, so forget about listening to the radio/Spotify during your workout. At least the women's bathroom is clean, and the front desk people are very nice.

The management is the worst thing about this gym. Even though I cancelled my year long membership before the year mark, I had to pay for the next 30 days and WHICH INCLUDED THE ANNUAL FEE! This is utterly ridiculous. I was here for a year, and had to pay 2 annual fees, how does that make sense? If you want to cancel, cancel at least 2 months before. Oh, and you HAVE to cancel your membership in person - how awful is that?

This is a pretty good gym. It has all the weights and machines you could ever want plus an wide array of cardio machines. There is even an area of turf for cross fit workouts if that's your thing. The membership is $45/month plus an additional yearly $60 fee which isn't bad - this also includes all the classes like spinning and boxing you want. If you're in town for a short period of time definitely check this place out with a free 5 day trial you can get online.

The best part about the gym is the free towel service and the steam/sauna room. Feels great to relax in the steam after a tough workout!

My membership at the time i left was month-to-month with a 30-day notice to cancel. The manager, katherine o'conner, confirmed that a cancellation fee would not be charged. I still received a cancellation fee of $100 and letter threatening collections if not paid.

No callback from managers after several attempts...The gyms are acceptable but knowing what I know i would recommend avoiding these people.

I cannot cancel my membership despite trying for over 6 months. I have called, emailed, tried every method. If I ever reach someone, they say that there is no manager there and I need to call back when there is a manager in order to cancel. There is a form on their website where you can request to cancel - I have filled that out 4-5 times and receive no response and they continue to change my card. On the yelp page, it states that memberships are frozen - that is NOT the case. They are charging me every month despite not having been open for months, and then when they were open over the summer, they would give me the run around so I could never cancel. What a horrible company; no one should ever trust them with their credit card. Even in a post Covid world, if I am back in the office and they are open again, I will never step foot in this place again.
