I would rather leave 2 1/2 stars but will assume that if I ordered off the menu I would probably get the dishes I like the most and would be happier than I was with what was on the buffet. I have eaten at dozens of these and I have noticed that few use fresh vegetables. It's obviously the cheap way out. Frozen peas and spinach, pulses masquerading as their vegetarian options. Cheese dishes. How about some eggplant, cauliflower or anything else that you actually have to buy and prepare?
I thought the food was ok. It's pretty spicy all the way across the board but just barely ok for me. The tandoor chicken doesn't have that nice char tandoor flavor. I thought the dal was the best dish I had. The place itself is nice. The service was not great. I asked for the check and it took quite a bit of effort to get one after they blew me off the first time I asked. I wouldn't go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 16, 2024Updated review
Our families have been holding events with Bombay Tandoor for over 15 years, including buffet lunches with groups, and Christmas Day lunches. The food, service and management has always been excellent first under the previous owner Mrs. Rani and now under the senior Managers who are now all partners.
I would like to recognize Mr. Iftikhar Khan for his supervision, providing advice and referrals and helping make my grandson's recent Annaprasan a success. We started working with Mr. Khan months ago in selecting a date and from there getting his advice on menu items, referrals for decoration vendor and over the weeks, meeting or texting to ensure we had everything possible in place. Mr. Khan was patient and helped us feel less stress knowing he would have oversight and be there on our special occasion.
The food was excellent and all our guests noted that. It was all served on time. Mr. Khan took care of the cake and had it all cut and served. The Bar was set up and staff served the items we discussed. The loudspeaker system was set up and staff helped carry many of the items we brought from our cars.
Although setting up for dinner meant we needed to vacate by 3:15, we were not rushed out and had a chance to relax before leaving and ensuring the decorators came by to pick up their decorations.
Bombay Tandoor is an excellent restaurant and location for events and Mr. Khan's attention to detail, his customer service and all his staff were amazing. I strongly recommend not just the restaurant but Mr. Khan for your event.
Mr. Khan you and your staff ROCK!!!!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 21, 2016Previous reviewWe used Bombay Tandoor for a reception at the Marriott Westfields. Worked with Varun and it was a great experience. The restaurant set up on time, had great appetizers and main courses (veg and non-veg) and out guests were very pleased. The tandoor lamb chops are awesome and goat curry exceptional.

Went for the lunch buffet and loved it. Very friendly staff and food was amazing. Favorites were the butter and tandoori chicken.

Very friendly service, the samosa chaat , biryani and naan were very good. I personally did not enjoy the tikka or Kati roll but everything else we tried was very good and flavorful.

It's been years since I came here, since I no longer live in that area anymore, but we had the opportunity to come here and boy am I glad I did. While a little more on the pricey side, the food was delicious and portions were generous. In general, I've noticed lots of places charge regular price, but noticeably smaller portions than before COVID. I didn't get that feeling here. I ordered the Thali platter ($28). My son wasn't convinced the Thali ($10) on the kids menu was going to be enough, so we ordered the regular version of Butter Chicken ($20) which was much too much for him. Overall, I was very happy with the experience. Will try to come back next opportunity I have.

As you can see in the photos, this is a place you could hold a nice swanky event. The food on the buffet was pretty good too. Looking forward to coming back to this place.

This review is for Bombay Tandoor's lunch buffet. Bombay Tandoor tends to fill up with people shortly before noon. Their lunch buffet is clean and a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are offered. Here is what you should know:
1) Tandoori chicken comes in bite-sized pieces and contains bones. My personal preference would be to serve larger pieces than smaller, meatball-sized ones. I took away one star for this reason.
2) The desserts today included a fruit custard and gulag jamun. Both were sweet. For some, they might be too sweet, but I liked them both. They helped cut the spiciness of some dishes.
3) Their butter chicken tastes wonderful. I used naan to capture every bit of the tasty sauce.
This was my first time having their lunch buffet. I recommend this place and would return again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 17331786Feb 21, 2023

Ordered the butter chicken and (vegetable) pakoras for carry out. The portions were TINY- both the butter chicken and pakoras were in small cup-sized containers, the basmati rice was in an even smaller container! The butter chicken alone was $20, so they must've given us the Kids' menu?
Verdict: taste was just ok, felt robbed on the portions, overall would definitely NOT come back here. So many other, better options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Archana J.Alexandria, VA411Nov 21, 2023
We used their services to cater a Diwali party at our home. The guests raved about the food and the service was impeccable. They were punctual and and everything was presented perfectly. The food looked at tasted great. They say with us to create the perfect menu. We will be using this restaurant again. We couldn't have been happier.

Met a friend here for the lunch Buffett, and the new opening time is 11:45 and it took another 15 minutes for the Buffett to open so plan your lunch hour accordingly. Once we were seated the wait staff was attentive and friendly.
Yes, it's a real buffet! Clean and shiny plates and flatware. Food was fresh, piping hot and made with high quality ingredients. One of the tastiest combinations of food both for vegetarians and meat eaters. Saag was so good and not overly oily like other places.
Will be returning when in the area and will try ordering from the menu next time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Aug 16, 2021Updated review
Delicious Mali Kofta, Saag Paneer, and Paneer Tikka. My friend has a wedding luncheon here and the food spread was pretty good! While the Palak Chaat was a bit heavy on the spices, the Pani Puri and variety of crispy Pakoras were tasty. Of the main dishes, the Palak Tikka with a spicy kick was the highlight. I went back to the buffet table 3 times to get heaping spoonfuls of rice to soak up that delicious curry! The okra bhindi with roasted potatoes hit the spot! The traditional Yellow Dhal Tadka was like home-made and flavorful. My friends enjoyed the Goat curry and Chicken Tikka made of the same curry as the Paneer Tikka.
The Mango Mojito was delicious and noticed it was a popular cocktail as I saw many orange minty glasses floating around the room. The Mango Lassi was sweet and refreshing, great way to cool off amid the scorching summer heat!
I enjoyed the food so much that the following weekend that I explored other vegetarian dishes on my own, the Malai Kofta and Saag Paneer really hit the spot! They kofta veggie croquette was made of paneer and veggies and there was a generous portion of paneer in the saag. The curries were surprisingly not greasy. While the Naan was cold and brittle at my friend's luncheon, it was really good fresh and had the fluffy texture that I was hoping for.
Will definitely come back for more take-out and dabble into more dishes!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Aug 12, 2021Previous reviewDelicious Paneer Tikka. Would have been nice to see Saag Paneer or another vegetarian curry and also surprised that Samosas weren't featured in the apps.
The only item that wasn't a big fan of was the stiff garlic naan, it didn't have the fluffy texture I was expecting. I've had their naan before, it's fluffy and tasty and def has potential!

Will definitely come back for some take-out and try other dishes like the Saag Paneer, Malai Kofta, and assortment of dishes with the Thali.
