Bohnhoff Lumber Co

I was getting some woodworking lessons and coming to Bohnhoff was part of the class. I met up with my instructor and went over what type of lumber I wanted for my project. Bohnhoff has an 'irregular' pile-pieces of lumber that aren't in normal lengths. Since I wasn't making a deck or a boat or anything it was easy and easy on the wallet to find some pieces of wood that I needed.

The guys at the lumber yard were great and it was easy to make my purchase. They gave the option for delivery but we managed to fit it into my instructor's car.

The trip was productive, I learned a lot and it was fun.

Had a visit this moring where i was approached by several employees willing to help out while i was browsing and felt like they were actually happy to help. I met with Terry and he showed me around and explained the services and what can be provided. Very great experience. It can be intimidating for some to vist a "lumber yard" but trust me this place is one of the friendliest businesses in Los Angeles that stilll exist. Just your good ol company for the people.

I submitted a request for a quote online and they sold my information! My phone rings constantly now and it's completely infuriating.

I'm an amateur / DIYer, and my visit to Bohnhoff was my first to a non-big-box lumber company, so I was a bit out of my element.

The staff were all really helpful and friendly, and they didn't make me feel at all like a newbie.

They helped my find a walnut board that would work well for my furniture project, and they helped clean up the straight edge side for me and gave it a few quick runs through the planer.

It was a great experience overall.

This felt like a big local hardware store. I was able to pick up cinder blocks, but had to look at the gadgets too. The staff was not only friendly, they were exceptional. Admittedly, outside the service suffered, but once I was able to find help, again friendly and helpful.

Inside, I felt like I had friends helping me. Everyone was simply outstanding. It is with going out of your way to shop here.

Been coming here for rough lumber for a couple of years now. Quality has gone done noticeably. Still good but I find myself wasting my boards than needed because of flaws in the wood. Also I find them out of stock of the stuff I need more often than not. I'm a hobbyist so I just wait but gets annoying.
Most of the time service is great and most of the folks that work there are stand up individuals and very helpful.
I picked up an order that I didn't hand pick to save on time and man they had to be all the rejects in the pile and some of it wasn't even the right thickness. Most of what I got was warped and cupped. Paid for 5/4 board and if I was lucky got short boards of 7/8s by the end. Barely usable. I should have rejected the selection but I was pressed for time.
They do have a large selection and good wood just take your time and select yourself.

I had an idea for a computer monitor shelf I wanted to make for my desk. I knew the dimensions I needed but that was pretty much it. I reached out to Bohnhoff through Yelp and got a quick reply from Mike to give him a call to discuss my project.

Mike was super helpful, to say the least. He worked with me to keep the project within my budget, figure out the type of wood that would fit my needs, and I never felt like I was being taken advantage of or pushed in a direction I didn't want to go.

The pieces were ready the next day and after some light sanding, a few coats of polycrylic, and wood glue to put it all together, I now have an amazing new monitor shelf that I couldn't be happier with.

Getting wood for your own DIY project doesn't have to be complicated and Bohnhoff helped make the whole process accessible and easy.
