Review of 6-week challenge
I have now completed the 6 week challenge and can say that the program was effective in improving motivation, energy, strength, stamina, and some weight loss. The rules of the program could be confusing at times given all of the lifestyle changes one makes when one embarks on a new regimen, but it was nice to have the support of the community.
The studio space was beautiful and the classes were the hardest 30 mins I have ever spent. The trainers were amazing. After each class I felt stronger. The meal plan was helpful as a way of being more thoughtful about food.
3/2 was the studios last class. Members have shifted to either Balance Gym or F45.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shreya S.Washington, DC0115Jul 26, 2022
I was at this bootcamp for 3 months from mid-end of 2017 and would not recommend it to anyone.

This is not your typical gym. There is a true community of strong (mostly) women trainers and fellow trainees that support you. I was able to lose 32.2 lbs in 6 weeks!
I signed up for Emmanuel's 6 week weight loss program after seeing a Facebook ad. So many places will promise constant support to ensure success, but Fit Camp DC actually delivers. Between regular texts from Emmanuel as well as your coach and an active Facebook group, there is always support.
I also decided not to continue after the 6 weeks due to my busy schedule of working and going to school full time. I was afraid after telling them I would not be continuing, my trainers would be less communicative, but I've continued to be included and still feel a part of the family. I strongly recommend this program to anyone who is ready to make massive change in their health.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 32170405Apr 28, 2018
I don't even know how to start. I went in today quite skeptical, thinking that the whole thing was too good to be true. And I was not wrong. I had signed up for a "FREE" 6 Week Challenge that popped as an ad on my Instagram. Unfortunately, I could not find the ad but you can see my confirmation email where it clearly states that it is FREE. There were no disclaimers on the ad or on the email. I went in for a 30-minute orientation today, that despite arriving 10 minutes late turned into an hour long meeting. It was a group of about 7 of us. We discussed extensively the great results that we can achieve with the program, Emmanuel praised our commitment and willingness to make a change towards a more active and healthier lifestyle. He told us that last time they offered this free challenge he had about 800 applicants and ended with a group of about 40 people because he's very selective and that he turns people away if he thinks they are not a good fit for the program. So far, so good right? Right, until we towards the end of the "orientation" where the catch is revealed. The program according to him, includes body scans that track your progress, you work with a nutritionist to develop a meal plan, you get some couching and you absolutely have to go in at least 3 times a week (but no more than 3 times) for 30 minutes workout sessions, all these according to him is valued at $3,000, but because the challenge is supposedly free and they are having a grand opening special, he's just asking for $997 He claims that you can get you money back if you meet the goals that he establishes (at the beginning of the challenge) at the end of the 6 weeks. He emphasized that he only had 3 spots left, one person signed up at the end, I left before I could see if anyone else had taken up on the offer, but that would mean that he only had 2 spots left, right? When I scheduled the orientation there were no other dates available after today. Today I checked and I saw that he's holding this orientation for 3 more days to fill 2 more spots? Also, we had to make a decision right there and then, when I told him I could not decide before discussing it with my partner, he then made it clear, that when I finally make a decision, the program would no longer be $997 but I would have to pay the full price of $3000. But what if I went in on one of the 3 next orientations he's having? I hope this brings some clarity to people who stumble upon this ad. They should make this clear from the very beginning so it doesn't take people by surprise and no one wastes their time. I do understand that it is his business but I don't like the tactics that he's using to attract new people. It is deceitful. If all 7 of us had been willing to pay, he would have taken all 7 of us because according to him we were a good fit, despite only having 3 spots left ha!

Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with any company!
I signed up for this gym about 6 months back and was extremely excited. The classes were a hit or a miss and sometimes led by trainers that are inexperienced, but that's not even what my problem was with the company. My problem is that the customer service here is HORRIBLE!!
I am the type of person that is on top of my bills. So it was a huge surprise to me when I got a call from collections telling me that I owed the gym more than $700. When I tried reaching out to the gym about it, it took them so long to answer my emails (I would email 3-4 times just to get an answer) and told me I would have to pay almost $100 just to speak to Emmanuel (the guy that signed me up for the program).
Let me be clear, this company sent me to collections without ANY notification. They never told me I was past due on my bill or that I was being sent to collections.
Honestly, at this point, this gym seems like a money making scam more than anything else. They are very attentive to get you to sign up and MIA when you have an issue (that they caused).
Especially for the price ($300/month), please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Hina,
I am really sorry that it has come to this. We are a small company and a community, I would have definitely tried to work something out with you. We have done our best to communicate with you with no luck on getting a response and was left with no other choice. After our last conversation, you texted me and told me we were in agreement with the solution we discussed. I have been calling and texting you. I hope that you are still willing to work with me on fixing this issue, bringing your account current, and giving me the opportunity to give you a better experience.

Emmanuel and his team are NO JOKE! I came in, needing guidance on a routine to help me live a healthier life. What I got was so much more. Emmanuel and his team were not only trainers but also encouragers and truly feel like family. They care about your results just as much as you do and are there to support you through every step. I saw incredible results just by sticking to the plan and following their lead. Bonus- it is fun! The other people in the classes WANT to be there and each class has a great vibe. I would recommend this team to ANYONE who wants to be healthier, get stronger and have fun while doing it!

I am honest and good person and really dislike trashing people, but I also like telling the truth when there has been a lie.
The business and the owner lack the professional integrity that any business should have.
After been more than two weeks sick, pretty much in bed, due to the diet change, I decided to cancel my membership. When I signed up, he said that there was a 30-day hassle-free return if I wasn't satisfied and this was an outright lie. I could still take this case to court but, in all honesty, I don't have the time to deal with it. I'm very upset about the way I was treated, the lies in that they "provided the services" when they weren't fully provided. To top it off, I put up weight.
I am highly disappointed and, to be honest, Emmanuel doesn't care about your fitness goals. He cares about him making money, not returning your money and being able to pay for his Mercedes. Is this how you take advantage of women? Unless you're willing to pay for personal training, I do not think is worth investing $200 per month in a business that all it seeks is your money and not giving a good customer service nor good fitness results to you.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Luv J.Northwest Washington, Washington, DC37253May 22, 2019
Deciding to embark on a fitness journey after suffering an injury, I signed up for the 6 week orientation class with the intent to sign up for the 6 week program and, the night before, I received a cancellation notice via email from the studio. Baffled, I emailed them and didn't get a response via email until over a week later from Emmanuel saying he would call me shortly to explain.
Fast forward 3+ more weeks and he finally called (after I sent a chaser email, which now I somewhat regret given they clearly don't value prospective clients -- or don't need them) but unfortunately I was in a meeting and asked him to call me back later that day. He said ok.
It has been ~2 months and I'm still waiting! It's very unfortunate given I was looking forward to the classes and learnings after the reviews and testimonials on Yelp, but clearly new business and clients are unwanted. I'm writing this only now as a message for newbies/refreshers who have decided to get (back) on a path to better health and not to feel discouraged because someone/some studio didn't find the time to help/call/email you back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katy B.San Diego, CA277Dec 2, 2015Updated review
Just completed my first week of the bootcamp classes while also following the meal plan suggestions Emmanuel provided. I have struggled to find a good fitness class that fits in with my work schedule but I think I've finally found it. There are classes at 630 am and they are only 30 minutes long so I can get my workout in the morning and still get to work on time. But don't let the short class time fool you. It is an extremely high intensity workout, but like with any fitness activity, you get out of it what you put in. I'm still feeling really jazzed since it's my first week so I've been working really hard, and finding out today that I've dropped six pounds in just this one week definitely helps with the motivation. I can't wait to continue with these classes and see where I am a month from now.

Just finished my first month of fit camp and I have already lost 5.5 pounds of body fat and inches off my measurements, even after thanksgiving break! I have always had a tendency to lose interest in a certain type of workout and after a week or two just stop going to class. That has not been the case with fit camp. I have not missed a day yet and even when I was home for thanksgiving Emmanuel provided workouts for me to do on my own. The morning and evening options for the class schedules makes it so easy to stay on track, especially when you know every week Emmanuel will be coming after you with that caliper! I am on track for reaching my goal of 17% body fat and can't wait to get there.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 6, 2015Previous reviewJust completed my first week of the bootcamp classes while also following the meal plan suggestions Emmanuel provided. I am now half way through the 6 Week Challenge and I would give them more than 5 stars if I could! I have now lost 3.4% of body fat, which is even more than what Emmanuel promised originally (my goal was to lose 1% per week).
The workouts are intense enough to challenge you like never before but are only 30 minutes long. I wasn't in the greatest shape when I started and I have seen A LOT of improvement over the short time I've been training there. While the exercises remain challenging (no plateauing here), I am now able to do exercises at "level 2" rather than "level 1." Did I mention that coaches propose different levels for most of the exercises, which makes the training to accessible to pretty much everybody? The community is made of people of all ages and shapes, no shaming at BSBE: if you made it to the gym, you're a winner!
All the coaches are amazing both individually and as support group. Whenever I contact any of them, I always get an answer within the hour, whether it's about workouts, the meal plan or advice to arrange the workout plans because of a sore shoulder. And, when I don't contact them for a few days, they reach out to make sure that I stay motivated and that I don't have any questions. Emmanuel also managed to create a whole community which will support you all the way via groups on Facebook where people share about their experience, recipes and their achievements.
All in all, I am really happy I heard of this place where Emmanuel and his team have changed my vision of fitness as well as my approach to food (I would have NEVER thought I would like to do meal prep before the start of the challenge!). I don't think I am exaggerating when I say that this somewhat changed my life: I am more focused and ambitious at work too and I have never felt so energetic. I love those endorphines!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 4, 2018Previous reviewI am only at the end of week 1 of the 6 Week Challenge and I am seeing more results than over the 3 previous months when I went to a "regular" gym 5 days a week! Emmanuel and his team are not only fitness coaches when you go to a session but take the time to follow-up and check on you on a regular basis to see how you are doing and make sure you stay on track. They are also available to answer questions we may have, which I had never experienced from my other gym memberships.
