Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.
Just a bad layout inside. Ramshackle with water stains on ceiling. A disorganized "manager's office" left wide-open next to seating area.
Service was super bad with a completely disinterested waitress that spent most of her time smoking in the back or something.
An elderly couple next to us threatened to walk out if they didn't get their check after waiting so long. After another ten minutes the waitress came back out with the check, which was wrong naturally.
The breakfast was bad. Grits cold, bacon cold and looking like it was of the microwave kind. The eggs were cold.
We did get two mini buns which were good, but they didn't have the "made that day" feel.
Better breakfast options locally.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alfred W.Providence, RI312829Dec 20, 2023
The food here is legitimately good. We had the blue crab bennies, which I thought were amazing. My daughter ordered the red, white and blue French toast tower. Those were delicious as well and not as large as one might fear. My son had a fisherman's breakfast, which he also enjoyed.
Overall, a solid meal topped off at the end with a good sticky bun. We will definitely try this place again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 11, 2023
Our party order the following and I tried them all:
The Champ: I think this was my favorite. It comes served in a skillet. 4 items that combined make perfection. Home fries, cheese, sausage and gravy. The portion is very filling and so delicious. You will end up dipping the biscuit in the gravy: yummy!
Scrambled Egg & Cheese sandwich: on a croissant and sausage. It is exactly what it says. Really good. The croissant was very fresh.
It's all About the Eggs Morning Wake Up Call: it's a traditional American breakfast and you just order/add what you want. All ingredients felt fresh. It feels very homemade.
Pancakes: they were so fluffy. They literally melt in your mouth. If you think about how good pancakes should be: this is it! Wow. Order at least a side. The plain ones are perfection.
The place is a hole in the wall, but everything was so good. 100% recommended if you are staying in Islamorada or even if you are on the way to Key West, this is a very affordable, delicious pit stop.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 17, 2023
Bob's Bunz is a ramshackle-looking place in an obvious state of disrepair along the west side of Overseas Highway, which also goes by the name of Islamorada Restaurant and Bakery. The interior isn't much better with water its a water-stained ceiling and a paper-cluttered office. However, it is clean and comfortable and offers a good breakfast and lunch with a closing hour of 2:00 PM. And, it is also a very good bakery.
Bob's Bunz has a very good menu with nearly 100 choices. For my breakfast, I went for "The Country Boy," a country-fried steak with a fried egg and a great sausage gravy, advertised to be "Bigger than Dallas." LOL!
It made for a good very delicious breakfast, and at $11.99, I sure can't complain about the price.
So, don't let the outside appearance of the place dissuade you. The quality of the food way overcomes the looks.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kim D.Boston, MA9513459Feb 10, 2024
This is for a location that was listed as open on Google maps.
We arrived at 81001 Overseas Hwy, Islamorada, FL 33036 expecting to enjoy a hot coffee and a sweet treat. Despite the sign on the street and door indicating they were open, the restaurant was actually closed. Upon peeking through the window, I noticed the inside appeared disheveled. Overall, it was disappointing as we were looking forward to our visit for a sweet treat and coffee. At this point we decided not to try another location as we saw another that was closed.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Helen C.Miami, FL4174104Jun 18, 2023
Went to the farmers market across the street of the actual location and was surprised when I saw the famous cinnamon rolls there!
I had one in the car before leaving and it was so delicious they were delicious and I had to go back inside and grab another 3 to go.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 0108310Jan 8, 2023
Average breakfast spot. The pastries might be what brings this place to 4 stars. The croissant breakfast sandwiches were good. The cheese tastes like Kraft wrapped in the plastic. Would prefer a different cheese. Maybe mozzarella.
Got a cinnamon bun and potato chip cookie to go. The potato chip cookie was featured on the travel channel. The person checking me out wanted that it is VERY thin and can break very easily.
Service was good and friendly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Drew P.Grand Rapids, MI015Feb 12, 2024
We went there yesterday for breakfast and found that it was closed, empty and a sign saying ForRent

Husband tried to order a scrambled eggs instead of basted eggs, and we were told there were no substitutions. He ended up getting a croissant sandwich, which he compared to Burger King quality. I ordered a caramel bun and a sticky bun (figuring I could take what I wanted and leave the rest or share with my husband). Both buns were not fresh and felt like I was eating expired Entenmanns...chewy, stale dough. They had special coffee but we were given the default of Folgers, which wasn't bad but we would have appreciated the suggestion from our server if they had thought to suggest it in the first place.
