Thanks to Restuarant.com, we had the opportunity to try this new to us place in the lovely town of Lafayette.
We came during the Covid-19 year of 2020
Honestly, didn't know what to expect since, once again, we didn't read reviews before hand. So our surprise and delight was genuine. Service was Impeccable, the food was absolutley delicious and the comfortable yet spacious vibe of this little dinner was so welcomed. This was our first dine in, sit down meal out since the shut down. We were a little awkward about what we could or couldn't do, but our server clued us in so we didn't make any mistakes.
This was also the first time that my husband really liked what I ordered, but was very happy with his order and didn't want to switch.
His cajun chicken sandwich was so good (I took a bite). The char was perfect. My BBQ chicken sandwich (hold the bacon add coleslaw) was the best yet. The garlic fries were superbly aromatic and flavorful.
We are coming back.Helpful 27Thanks 0Love this 29Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 2019

Their burgers?! Yeah... they're good. Nothing spectacular, but it does the job. However, those garlic fries and that Butterfinger milkshake...... HALLELUJAH!!! Now, THAT'S where it's at!!! Junk, junk, and more junk... food, that is. Junk food. But, marvelous junk food at that!
Bistro Bar & Grill is tucked away in Downtown Lafayette off of Mount Diablo Blvd. It's one of those spots where "if you blink, you just might miss it". It's cute and quaint with a hidden parking lot that's right behind the restaurant. They've got a bar with a few big screens and a little over a handful of beers on tap. The place was empty around 6 on a Monday night, so I helped myself to a seat at the bar and took advantage of the space. They have happy hour but it's from 3:30 - 5:30 (not the advertised 4-6).
Service at the bar was okay. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. I had a cheeseburger, garlic fries, and a Butterfinger milkshake. Everything tasted good, but the real winners here were the garlic fries and the milkshake. LAWD!!! I wouldn't care if my breath was stankin' from those garlic fries because that mound of heaven was the highlight of this meal! They arrived piping hot and exuded a wonderful garlicky aroma. They garnish their fries with fresh garlic rather than garlic powder/salt which is always a plus in my book. Trust me... these babies were friggin' heavenly!!!
You know what else was heavenly?! That GAWDLY Butterfinger milkshake! I will gladly take ALL of those calories any day! Try me! I basically inhaled that milkshake. It was nice and creamy, thick, topped with crunchy pieces of Butterfinger, and perfectly sweet. HELLS YAAASSS! Loved it to pieces... "Butterfinger pieces"! You see what I did there?! HA! Although I did enjoy the burger, nothing really stood out about it to me. It was good but pretty average and also just a tad bit dry. I think that next time I'll venture out and try a different type of burger with more toppings on it.
All in all, I liked what I received and I would pay them another visit if I was in the area again and craving for a yummy milkshake and some bomb ass garlic fries.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 20Oh no 0 - Cynthia S.Templeton, CA9016044Dec 6, 2020Updated review
Just updating to two stars because 1 Star is a little harsh. My sentiments about portion size and value remain the same. $70 should purchase a family of four a burger dinner for two adults and two kids that doesn't leave you hungry!

Honestly, if they hadn't ripped us off with the fries and tater tots I would've given given this place more stars. But we paid $10 for an order of curly fries and tater tots and were utterly ripped off with the tiny portion size. Burgers tasted okay (small and over priced). The fried chicken sandwich was also small and over priced. The fish tacos were tiny pieces of fish hidden under a pile of lettuce. We paid $70 for for this and still ended up hungry. Bad form, bistro burger. Yet again Lafayette disappoints with its culinary offerings. Avoid. We are all still hungr

I ordered a Chef Salad, no meat. It was fresh and spot on for me.
I'd like to try their fries too. They've got sweet potato, garlic curly fries and regular fries as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Julie Z.Antioch, CA7169435Jul 26, 2020
This place is rocking the Covid close down!! We came from concord for a good burger. Damn, their food is amazing!! They have a beautiful patio with wedding lights. The wait staff are super attentive. The sauces are all made from scratch. Order ranch dressing with the fries. I got truffle fries and the garlic fries.

Everything we've tried at bistro burger is absolutely delicious. Small little spot with some of the best burgers in area. We also really enjoyed their taco salad with shrimp YUM, enough for two people.
Plus, their selection of fries were delicious and are even big enough two but with all the options they have we like to get a few and share. Additionally, their fried chicken sandwich was also superb!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 6, 2016
This is a great neighborhood burger joint.
First, with a name like that, it should be all about the burger. And Bistro Burger really delivers. We have dined there on three occasions, and each time the patty was seasoned right, a nice beefy taste, and cooked correctly (I like mine medium rare, and overcooking is a big pet peeve...). They have great topping combinations (see my favs below). And the price is right, a bit lower than other sit down casual restaurants in the area, and coupons and check in specials are available if you look around. What's not to like? Very little.
Others have complained about the service. We have had a few bugs, but nothing that ruined it for me. Slow water refills, but I guess I'm not the type that needs my glass to be instantly filled whenever I take a sip. Out of a beer selection one time, so OK, I adapted. And, I think they've hired additional waiters to handle some of the issues. Otherwise on our visits they've been friendly, know the menu well, and have been fast but without making us feel rushed.
Menu highlights:
Truffle fries!!
Paris Burger (brie, caramelized onions, and sauteed mushrooms
Blue cheese burger (blue cheese, caramelized onions, and an A-1 mayo)
Bbq burger (my son swears by this...BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, and bacon)
Chicken sandwich. (Yeah, a chicken sandwich at a burger joint. I'm almost going to have to switch to this as my standard order. It's more like a chicken po' boy, on nice crusty bread, with lettuce, tomato, cole slaw, and a remoulade-like spicy mayo.)
Good beer list, wine specials, a darn good milkshake (we got the Oreo flavor), and TVs tuned into sports games round out the vibe here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

We had a larger group for lunch which may have contributed to some of the service problems we experienced (not enough staff?).
We started with some fries and onion rings for the table. They were hot and crispy but we were not given any plates and the ketchup did not appear until the burgers arrived (after the fries and onion rings were gone). The burgers were tasty and the buns were fresh. Two of the people in our group ordered salads and they did not get their meals until the rest of us were finished eating.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diana V.Walnut Creek, CA8978162725Dec 10, 2017
I've dined here with a group several times since they opened.
Had I written this review during my first visit, I would have given them 5 stars.
However, since opening, instead of improving, they have been declining in quality and service, which is why I now give them a generous 3 stars.
Upon our first two visits, the food was excellent, the service was speedy, and we felt welcomed in the establishment.
Several people in the party even began to recommend Bistro Burger to friends and went out to excellent meals there with them as well.
However, after our third and fourth visits, there was something left to be desired.
The presentation and the preparation of the food were off. Our orders were wrong and had to be re-made after having waited quite some time to receive them, despite being the only party in the restaurant.
(They always seem to be empty, despite being located next to a shopping area and off a busy street.)
The kids meals took an eternity to get to the table, despite asking to have them served first. (Anyone who dines with kids learns that they ALWAYS need to get their food first!)
The waitress and the manager couldn't process our coupon correctly since the owner wasn't present, which was surprising!
After our last visit, we decided not to return and to no longer recommend this place to our friends.
What we ordered:
+ Mixed Greens Salad -- Cranberries, Candied Walnuts, and Balsamic Vinaigrette
+ California Chicken Burger -- Grilled Chicken, Coleslaw, and Avocado with Chipotle Sauce on the Side
+ BBQ Burger -- House BBQ Sauce on the side, Bacon, Caramelized Onions, and Brie
+ Paris Burger -- Sautéed Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions, and Brie
+ Side of Onion Rings and ColeslawHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
