Fabulous service once again - very attentive server.
For the appetizer, the beef satay was just as good as it was the first time.
I had the beet salad for my entreé. It was one of the most beautiful salads I have ever eaten ! I was very impressed and did not know beets could taste so good with drunken cranberries, goat cheese, and candied pecans, and balsamic pearls.
The Turkey Club Royal was to die for and was even better than the first time I tried it. The egg inside along with the perfectly buttered bread tasted so good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 7, 2016Previous reviewCame here for lunch during the 'buy one entrée get one entrée free deal. (Of equal or lesser value , must mention deal for discount).
The beef satay appetizer was juicy and so tender. The honey Thai sauce that it came with complimented it just perfectly.
I had the Aleppo Crusted Tuna Salad. I was delighted that my salad came with half a lemon for the tuna and greens. The yellowtail tuna was seared and tasted fresh. Maybe I'm being nit picky, but I only wish that there was either more tuna or the tuna would have been sliced thinner to ration out with the salad proportion.
My boyfriend had the Turkey Club Royale and he particularly enjoyed the honey bread. It came with a very generous amount of French fries
Service was timely and friendly. Our waiter gave us a choice for our seating arrangement. We chose a spot by the window to enjoy the beautiful and sunny day.
Bistro 222 is a lovely place to dine, I'd love to try their dinner menu and wine next time. - Feb 4, 2016
I'll give Bistro 222 four stars for effort. They really try hard to make a diner happy. I rushed into the bistro trying to get a bite to eat before a show at the Capitol Theater. Hoping to eat at a bar, I refuse to stare at a Zion Curtain, and grabbed a table. Noticing the piano, I was told that Bistro 222 has jazz on the week-end. Hold me back! I'm in! I ordered a cocktail and some food. Well, the food wasn't great. Well, the food wasn't good. It was okay. Service and management are well meaning but raw, apologizing for mistakes in a steady stream of recrimination. The decor is nice, kind of modern lunch place on the cheap. Nothing special, but not bad really.
I will return for the jazz, drink, and eat the food very fast for sustenance rather than taste.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex J.Salt Lake City, UT117140319Sep 19, 2015
I have been wanting to try this restaurant since they opened, but I have also been a little wary given some of the reviews that had popped up about it. It seemed that either people had a great experience or they had a really bad experience. However, despite that, when the opportunity arose, I decided to give Bistro 222 a try... and honestly? I had a really great experience.
I went to Bistro 222 on 9/18/15 around 11:00am. My dining companion and I choose to have lunch inside and we were seated in a booth next to a nested fireplace, which was perfect because it was slightly chilly outside. The inside of the restaurant instantly struck me as very clean and organized with a very modern design. The contrast of the blacks and whites with the colors they used to decorate was really enjoyable visually.
Some other reviewers have mentioned that the wine list was on an iPad, but my wine/cocktail menu was presented in the old-fashioned print variety, so that may be a new addition. During my visit I ordered the Vidarita and the 222 Martini (on the rocks). Both were really delicious and I felt like I was getting my money's worth (as much as you can get your money's worth when ordering drinks in Utah). I was also informed that Bistro 222 has a special license to offer drinks before 11:30am and that food doesn't need to be ordered when ordering a drink, which I liked a lot.
My dining companion and I took advantage of the dine o'round special to try the NY Steak Sandwich. We also shared an order of the Cauliflower soup because I have heard that it was delicious and I've also heard that it was bland so I felt compelled to give it a try.
All of the food was absolutely delicious! The soup was flavorful with a tiny bit of spice and a creamy mouth feel. The meat on the sandwich was a perfect medium and the bread (which was both flaky and soft) was grilled perfectly. The salad was flavorful and light. My dining companion let me try his fries (a thinner, shoe string variety) and they came out hot and perfectly seasoned. They were served with un-doctored ketchup, which complimented them rather well.
We learned that Bistro 222's head chef was new (there for a week at the time of our visit) and that he hadn't had any influence on the menu we tried, but that he was working on some revisions to the menu, so my food opinions might by out of date soon after my review, just a heads up.
Our server, Issac, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive--not just to our table, but from what I saw to the other tables he got as well. There were fresh flowers used on the table, and the bathrooms available were very nice, clean, and perfectly maintained. At the time of our visit, the restaurant was not busy. It seemed to be before the lunch rush, so I can't say how service and food speed would be in such a circumstance, but our food came out quickly and fresh.
From my experience, in the confines of the time of day and how busy the restaurant was, I would definitely recommend Bistro 222 to others.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric K.Salt Lake City, UT226299Feb 14, 2016
We stumbled upon this restaurant after seeing a performance at Capital Theater. It was Valentines and we just wanted an appetizer and some wine. The host Amanda was super accommodating and even though they were booked up offered a place at the bar and made sure we were well taken care of. Andrew our bartender/server never went 5 minutes w/o checking in but wasn't intrusive.
The service was impeccable but the food was even better. We had the Tuna Tartar to start off. Quite possibly one of the best I've had. Followed up by the Cauliflower soup which was a blend of creamy cauliflower goodness. Next up we split the Chilean Sea Bass and the Roasted Red Pepper Pappardelle. Both exquisite! To top off our meal we shared a New York Cheesecake topped w raspberry sauce.
The atmosphere is charming and hip. Definitely a huge step in the right direction for a maturing downtown. And located literally a few steps from Galavan Center Trax Station, there's no reason to not check it out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 4, 2015
Had a really nice experience here. We went on a Saturday early evening and it was clear and not crowded. Our food was very good and the staff was great. I would come back and maybe sit outside for a relaxing lunch.

We went for our Anniversary Dinner during Dine O' Round. We sat outside which was very nice except you should expect to see a lot of people walking around that Main Street. The entrees were mostly bland. My husband got the portobello mushroom as a starter, which he thought was good. His entree was the pork dish and he felt it was under-flavored. He selected the brownie with a pinkish tart sauce that he did not enjoy much. My starter was the artichoke cheese dip which was by far, the most cheesiest, delicious goodness I've ever had. My entree was the ahi tuna and it was bland as can be. It seemed to only have some slight seasoning on the outside and the lentils (looked like white beans) did not compliment the ahi tuna whatsoever. I did advise this to the waiter when asked how my meal was and he appreciated the feedback. He gave me a card for 10% off my next dinner which was a kind gesture. My carrot cake was the best!!!!
Give it a try, maybe the other dishes are better and waiter mentioned menu changing.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3557292Mar 17, 2016
Took my girl here for lunch and upon arrival, parking was fairly easy and the restaurant was easy to find. Once we entered the restaurant, the atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable. The Hostess was very polite and we were seated very quickly to our table. We came for the two-for-one entrée lunch that the restaurant was offering.
The Beef satay was what we ordered for our appetizer. The beef satay that we ordered for our appetizer was delicious. Great Taste and Great Flavor. The Honey Thai sauce they put on the Beef Satay was absolutely yummy.
For our entrée, we ordered the roasted chicken sandwich and the bistro burger for our entrees. I got fries with my Roasted Chicken Sandwich and added Fries. My Lady ordered the Cauliflower soup with her Entrée and she absolutely loved it. The waitress that we had was very attentive and was on point throughout the entire meal.
I would definitely recommend Bistro 222 for a great experience and Great food. Great Location and I will be coming back to experience their jazz night in the Future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 15921941Feb 20, 2016
Friday night. After being told the wait would be 1 1/2 hour, at our restaurant of choice, we decided to walk around, and see if there was a least crowded option. We found 222 Bistro. Less than half full, we got right in.
The ambiance is lovely. A baby Grande being played by a very talented pianist. We had high hopes.
Prices are pretty high, not a problem, if food id spot on. We started with the wedge. scarcely dressed. Lots of yummy, fresh veggies. But, both of us got brown lettuce, not a lot, just enough to make you think your salad cost to much. Dressing, unremarkable. I did like that they serve in in an oversized bowl.
Since it was a game night, we ordered a pizza. It was good. Loved the variety of wild mushrooms. Sauce was rich, crust was unremarkable. Big enough for 2 or even 3 people to share.
We may back for lunch, but, probably won't hit dinner again. Nothing on the entree menu stuck out, as a must try. I find the cauliflower soup intriguing. I may try that, if we stop by for lunch.
Good wine list, Smallish pours.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jacob C.Layton, UT8559Feb 15, 2016
If you're looking for a classy meal, especially for a romantic dinner, this place is wonderful.
We came for Valentine's Day and were blown away by the whole place. The atmosphere was great with a jazz pianist and bassist playing at the front of the restaurant.
The food was delicious, though a bit pricey. It was amazing, but for Valentine's Day there was only a specific menu to choose from that required $65 per person.
Our only problem was that the steak was cooked too rare. We decided to ask if it cooked more and the manager came out and brought us a whole new entrée and boxed it up to-go!
The service was amazing and friendly, the food was unforgettable and we hope to be back one day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael W.San Diego, CA8127May 7, 2014
What a treat to stumble onto this fantastic restaurant. We were actually following a YELP lead for a nearby Greek restaurant that no longer exists...(Thanks YELP for being up to date! LOL).....
So on our way back to the car, we saw this bistro filled with what appeared to be well dressed lunch time diners. The dishes on all of the tables looked so artistically presented. We went in and luck have it, secured the table in the front corner with huge glass windows behind me and my guest. Our server was the engaging, handsome, and knowledgeable Tony. He painted fantastic word pictures of the lunch we would soon order.
I ended up getting the soup special, a Clam and Halibut Chowder. It was so LIGHT and delicious...not some cream soaked, out of a can clam chowder soup. The halibut really added to the diversity of flavor and texture. The clam shells were included in the bowl.
...My lunch companion ordered the fish and chips. Two beautiful pieces of lightly fried cod, served at the perfect temperature on a bed of fresh fries. Not the greasy, thickly coated Fish and Chips you would get at an Irish Pub.... She was very pleased.
My entree was a creative and delicious beet salad on which I added four pieces of medium sized shrimp. The meal was light and flavorful. The service was impeccable, with our water glasses never going empty, food service time was prompt and food temp was perfect.
Once again, really enjoyed the corner table with the amazing high-rise views.
The restaurant was clean, architecturally interesting, with clean lines, and a bright color palette. Did I mention how awesome our service was from Tony?
A real treat during the lunch hour. Check it out if you are in the area. You'll be glad you did.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
