If you've got a friend in from out of town, stop in to Bismarks for the other two Chicago-Only Must-Eats (you know, after the pizza and hot dogs) a beef, dipped and hot and a pizza puff. As far as I know, you can only get these foods here in Chicago in our classic iterations.

The beefs here don't taste like they were thawed 4 days ago and have been sitting in packaged au jus for hours. The sandwich bursting with flavor on the falling apart bread covered in gardiner with the right balance of fire and tang. Yum!

Skip the fries, which by no means are bad, but they take precious belly space away from the pizza puff. Exactly what the amalgam inside a pizza puff is, or how it's supposed to resemble pizza is beyond me, but it's hotgreasyGOOD!

Just writing this review made me hungry for some. Meet me there in 15 minutes and we'll have a helluva great meal!

Reasons I miss living at Potomac and Artesian:
      1. Daily gang shootings allowed for games of "Fireworks or Firearms"
      2. Neighbors were cool, rent was CHEAP
      3. Variety of car dealers along Western for quickie comparison shopping
      4. THE BISMARK

This place is really gross in the most fantastic way. The pizza puffs are greasy (in fact, it's the only food-ever-that has given me heart burn), the hot dogs are hot, kinda, and the gyros are cheap and delightful.
In my days in the 'Boldt (Humboldt Park for the layperson), my friend and upstairs neighbor would spend hangover days with a delicious gyro from the Biz, extra tzatziki of course, some of their yummy fries, and a giant drink--and not spend over 6 bucks. Loves it.

This is my regular place for a quick lunch. It's walking distance from my work.
The daily special -- double cheese burger with fries and drink is less than $4 -- great deal.
I LOVE their grilled chicken salad -- it comes with french bread -- it's only $5.33. It used to be less than $5 but they raised the price for the whole menu a month or two ago.

Bismark is now closed. They locked their doors and covered up the windows sometime back in 2012. Now this location is an upscale breakfast restaurant called "Hash.

Danny the was a really nice guy. I'm sad to see him go, but I suppose change in the neighborhood was really slow, but inevitable.

Ok... I admit... it looks like a dump....
But once you try their grilled chicken salad or their Gyros you will understand why I gave them 4 stars.
The food is cheap and delicious.

I love, love LOVE this place!! Another of my grandma's fav's passed down to me since childhood -=) Been going here since forever and even if i go without it for years, when I come back again (which I alwasy do) it never disappoints. *sigh* Bismark, a good old day humboldt park instition that hopefully will never change. Great greasy food at prices no one else around here can beat!

This place may not look pretty, but their beef sandwich is 100% outstanding. More people need to recognize this fact. I am doing my part to help in this endeavor.

      Great hangover food joint
Good eating and close to home- give them a try, they've been in business for 30 years. The owner of the establishment has been there for most of those years and I'm guessing has seen it all...
They have most of the fast food items you might expect from Gyros to Burgers...great fries, shakes and the mozzarella sticks are goooood eating!
There are a few tables for eating "on site".

I haven't been here in a while, but the last time i went I got some chicken nuggets, and they were bitchin' and totally mimicked the golden arches style... i don't think there's anything at this joint over 4 dollars, and there's always sweet thugs playing video games and shit.

Used to live right down the street. Owners name is Danny and he does it right. Always got a pizza puff with whatever burger and fries. Pizza puff puts it over the top.
