Birthright of Ames

This is one those "crisis pregnant centers". They post ads on CyRide and places that young women will see offering free pregnancy tests and counseling.
What they don't inform on their ads is that the pregnancy tests are the pee on a stick ones you can get for $5 or less at a dollar store or grocery store. They direct you to the bathroom, put your pee on the stick and then proceed to ask highly intrusive questions. They ask what you're expecting the result to be. They inspect for signs that you're married. Ask about your college life or employment situation. One on one they aren't so bad, but sometimes they have like 5 women lined up and it's kinda creepy.
There's a "blessing room" of donated clothes and toys for pregnant women and children up to 2 and I know at least in the past they did help low income women that needed help with clothing and toys for their children.
Their intent is to be a support for women but it's a fairly narrow perspective and it's not a place for college women that might not want to continue a pregnancy and need that support as well. They're also downsizing their clothing and parenting aids pantry which was their biggest support service and the sole reason I supported them.
And whose idea was it to have that difficult and narrow walk up? A waddling pregnant woman surely has difficulty with that! Proximity to Planned Parenthood to catch the eye of women possibly getting abortion pills instead of thinking of the ease for women who want and need the parenting help.
