Bird Cafe exemplifies our passion for community, food and art through unique dining experiences that emphasize terroir - or the taste of place. To this end, chef Aaron Peters works with local farmers and ranchers to create local, seasonal, Mendocino country cuisine. We've renovated the space, including new murals by Nicole Ponsler. Bird offers an exciting list of Anderson valley wines, in addition to a full bar pairings. Reservations are recommended. Please call 707-882-1600 to reserve your table.…

We went for oyster Wednesday - disappointing that it turned out to be *cooked* oysters especially when it's more than $5 a pop! What are you paying for if not the freshness to eat them raw? They were fine but not worth the cost.

We got the tuna crudo, which was tender enough and had nice citrus flavor; the salmon taco which was spicy but not particularly flavorful besides; the steamed clams and mussels which were pretty nice altho it's a small serving and one of our mussels wasn't opened.

The best item was the grilled calamari - I could not taste the black bean sauce it supposedly comes in which was disappointing, but they are grilled and have a nice charred flavor.

The location is casual with maybe 8 tables. It was not crowded or over busy which was nice. Service was quick and friendly.

Note that all portions were quite small.
My date and I each got one drink and the bill came to about $100. For me the flavor to cost ratio just isn't there with this spot.

Wow! What a fun discovery in this tiny town! My husband and I took an impromptu weekend vacation up there coast to Mendocino county and landed in Point Arena. Bird Cafe had been recommended by our Airbnb host. We noticed that you needed reservations so we crossed our fingers and called the night before. It worked and we were able to get squeezed in for Saturday night dinner.

It is fixed price. They only take cash. This is posted everywhere around the restaurant, on their website, and when you call on the phone. The restaurant is a little strange to walk into as you feel like you are entering the back of a restaurant. If there's a bar to your right and you are staring at a curtain, walk through it, you're in the right place!

We shared both our meals. Soup, salad, ravioli, lamb, and dessert. The lamb was some of the best I've ever had. You can't beat homemade ravioli. The starters were insane as well. This was surprising fine dining in such a low key small town!

This is my second time at The Bird & I was impressed again.
My first visit was for my birthday last November & everything was excellent, so when I saw Weds. was Oyster night, I took my partner for his birthday! He had his oysters & I had a salad & the goat cheese croquettes & then we each had a different dessert. Everything was wonderful! We won't wait so long before we go again!!!

Excellent food and service. Wed is seafood night and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they have a meat dish, fish dishes, and a veggie dish. The salad was great and exciting mix of veggies and thin slices of apple with a great home made dressing. The salmon was savory on top of mashed potatoes and wonderful ripe heirloom tomatoes. Desert was excellent carmelize apple and berries in a pie.

Bird Cafe ruined my wife's birthday...
We got takeout and specifically asked for no walnuts (my wife is extreme allergic to walnuts/pecans, a small bite typically lands her in a hospital).
They said "of course" and still put some in the steak pesto souce. Two injections later, she is still not 100% and the food is in the garbage bin. Will not be back to Birds during our stay in the area.

This was a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner. The food was outstanding for a very good price. The servers were very attentive and nice. We had a really lovely time.

One of the most unique dining experiences we've had at Bird Café. Extremely small restaurant. Maybe six tables. Seems it may be just the husband and wife team that does all the food preparation and runs everything including cleaning dishes etc. Excellent service nonetheless with food coming out promptly and well presented.

It is great that their fixed price menu has three entree options and two starters to choose from with variety and options for diners in such a small setting. Pricing is also very fair at $50 per person for food and they have excellent local wine and what seems to be a very well curated cider selection.

Cash only and reservations are required. Would certainly visit again when visiting anywhere near Point Arena and the beautiful Mendocino Coast.

We are locals and yet hadn't ever been there. The food was amazing. Husband had tuna and I had an amazing vegetarian entree. The dessert was perfect. The staff was lovely and attentive. Will absolutely go back.

We discovered Izakaya Gama in Point Arena and visit the area often (Sea Ranch). Now we discovered a great supper club a block up the hill. We did the pre-fixed meals for pick up - 2 different selections. Everything was fantastic! Potato leek soup, mixed greens with amazing dressing, seafood stew, braised wine reduction beef with fantastic greens and mashed potatoes with a great horseradish sauce. Fancy chocolate dessert and apple rhubarb crisp. EVERYTHING was great. Fun to find great food in the middle of paradise (nowhere). People are nice too! Who'd have thunk Point Arena was a foodie destination! I'm torn between telling everyone or keeping this a secret. Oh well, enjoy.
