Came here for a class with my friend, and absolutely was not disappointed! The hot yoga class we took on Thursday with Da'Jon was EVERYTHING. Not only did the class have me feeling refreshed and challenge, but the vibe inside was everything. The people were dope, the instructor was even doer. The music was incredible, and I actually felt comfortable moving in my body in the way that made sense. Obviously, I couldn't get into everything in the way that I wanted, but it wasn't like other classes, where you feel pressured to. This class was dope.
A few things:
1) take your shoes off after entering and put them in the cubby.
2) put your stuff in the lockers in the locker room.
3) know you can shower after if you would like
4) sweat your butt off!
They have memberships, and they use ClassPass. I would highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - DC Y.Washington, DC01291Aug 7, 2023
While I enjoy the instructors and diversity of offerings, quality and cleanliness seems to have gone downhill since my first introduction to Bikram Ivy City (pre-Covid). The classes are now packed with people to the extent that you have to modify your movements because there isn't enough space between you and the person beside you. I also question how much disinfecting they are doing between classes. You can't expect a Bikram studio full of sweat to be pristine but after my first class back, I became violently ill (requiring 2 ER visits and later diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia). I am not blaming this on the studio as it's a risk you take, but I immediately recalled the subpar mop job/hurried sloshing around of sweat to prepare for the next class and coupled with the lack of space to spread out, it was obvious how I got so sick. Their focus seems less intimate and more on how many people we can fit in a room at one time and how quickly we can move to the next class to make a dollar. I have unfortunately made plans to move on.

During the historic 35 day partial Government Shutdown, I made a commitment to maximize my time off. I mean who doesn't enjoy doing things that feel good and actually good for you. Continuing my yoga practice is one of those things.
I was eager to try this studio since I've only done Bikram hot yoga in VA. The yoga studio is located beside Bicycle Space. I created a BYW account the night before to expedite registration. The front desk personnel (who were also instructors) greeted me with a warm smile. Hey Jonny and Jessie! It was clean and bright with colorful artwork celebrating diversity. I've fallen in love with the 60 minute express version of Bikram. It has a nice flow and we hit all the poses. The standard 90 min version in temps over 100 degrees drains me. Each day, I was able to secure street parking right in front of the studio. There's also a parking garage a few steps away, so parking is easy.
Overall I've had a great experience. I'm looking forward to returning to try hot barre, inferno hot pilates, and maybe cryotherapy.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

This was my first time doing Bikram Hot Yoga. I had done hot yoga before (at VIDA Navy Yard)...but this was much different.
It was 90 minutes! That was a super struggle, but fortunately I made it through the whole class without passing out or dying (at times I thought one was imminent). People were well spaced out which I appreciated. At the end, the instructor handed out cold towels (I think the essence on them was eucalyptus) and I coulda told her I loved her right there!
The instructor, Kendra was great. I had no problem following her. Unexpectedly, she noticed that it was my first time (which made me realize it wasn't for anyone else there) and introduced me and welcomed me to the class. She also talked to me after, which was nice.
I'll definitely be going back. It can only get easier...hopefully.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Desi W.Washington D.C., DC646214325Mar 11, 2021
I have visited multiple locations for this studio and taken classes over many years. This place is always friendly, clean and peaceful.
From Bikram (hot yoga) to Fascial Stretch, I highly recommend this location because staff is always so nice and knowledgeable.
I'm far from a yogi but coming here makes me feel yogi-ish !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 23, 2021
I love it here! I truly believe that exercising in a hot room is better for muscle relaxation, detoxifies the body, and reduces stress. There's a variety of classes to choose from, whether it's traditional bikram style yoga or hot cardio, I am able to switch up my workout routines for maximum performance. The instructors are approachable and have a lot of energy that keeps me motivated and focused throughout class. There's plenty of street parking or the adjacent parking structure has a 90 minute free rate. Fill up your insulated water bottle with cold water and maybe bring a face towel to wipe the guaranteed sweat you'll emit throughout class. Locker keys are available for free at the front desk and each attendee must remove his/ her shoes and place them on the shoe cubicle. Try out a workout; your first class is free!

I go to Bikram Yoga @ Ivy City about twice a week and really love this place.
This review is specifically for the in-house session I scheduled with Tyecia (Ty) at my job through a nonprofit wellness program.
We did a 40 minute pilates demo and boy! It was AMAZING! From the moment she walked in, her energy was radiant and was Ty was just stellar. I really love how she engaged us as a team and we were able to loosen up and laugh and have fun, but also work our bodies and focus on the end goal too.
Thank you Ty and Bikram yoga!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jun 21, 2018Previous review6/21/2018
Came back for class #2 and didn't have a pleasant experience. Didn't even stay for the class as I just didn't feel like the check in situation was handled well& didn't really feel welcomed by new instructor... idk
We'll just make sure to come when we can when Lashone is teaching.

My first time doing hot yoga yesterday (6/19/18).
My friend and I have been eyeing this business for some time, 1. After seeing the Groupon deal and 2. Just the great reviews all 3 locations have.
We used the "1 free class with Yelp check in" deal which was amazing, but still ending up buying the monthly deal anyway because the class and instructor were so amazing.
We arrived around 7 PM for the 7:30 and was greeted by our lovely instructors Lashone. She was full of energy and compassion, and you can really tell she loves what she does. I already made a profile online the night before, so didn't have to fill out any paperwork, but, I did rent a towel as the one I bought was too small, and they encourage having a towel that will at least be able to fit over your yoga mat. They also rent mats too, but I had my own.
The class itself was VERY intense as my first time, but I was comfortable. I felt good. Everyone in the room was focused, and I had some really great vets in front of me that led good examples. GET READY TO SWEAT AND STRETCH AND BREATHE AND FEEL GOOD.
At one point Lashone opened the door and I internally rejoiced! Haha
It was an amazing class and we'll be going back about 3 times a week. We'll catch Lashone on Tuesdays and Sundays and take a Thursday class with another instructorJun 20, 2018Previous reviewMy first time doing hot yoga yesterday (6/19/18).

Great space and instructors. Beautifully diverse mix of yogis - ages, body shapes and sizes, races/ethnicities.

I had my first virtual class here with John Salvatore and loved him! He was the first Yoga Instructor I have had since the shelter-in-place directive that did not demo the entire class but instead watched and guided the students! What a refreshing change. He is very articulate and provided numerous cues to assist us in the poses. I have practiced in-person at the Riverdale location and can't wait until it reopens but John is the best alternative to the real hot room. He is so compassionate and giving with his instruction.
Only issue was that the Mindbody app charged me $20 for the class although it stated $15; but I will gladly support this studio for its quality instructors and lovely environment! NamasteHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
