Q:
What is the dress code?
A:
Their website said "Bring your A game!" or something like that. There were men in ball caps, jeans, shorts, t-shirts. Super casual is allowed. It appears like it's trying to be a nicer restaurant in decor but when it comes down to it, if you have… more

Best place to get fish in Orange Beach. Don't be fooled by the strip mall looking outside of this place. It is very nice inside and offers the widest fish selection of any restaurant we go to in the area.
This night we had halibut and Golden Tile done Big Fish style with jasmine rice spinach in Sherry Soy Ginger sauce. Yum!
Wine selection is big and they have a nice bar with seating.
Looking for a great date night place you've found it here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 2, 2017Previous reviewThis is a hidden gem in Orange Beach.
My wife and I found this place a few years ago and it has always been a top notch experience for us.
We both ordered a catch of the day (grouper and amberjack) and had it Big Fish style (saluted over jasmine rice in a sherry soy ginger sauce). It was amazing.
We sat on the back patio and enjoyed the good weather. Service was attentive and received a good wine suggestion from our server.
Don't be turned off by it strip plaza location. There are many good choices in OB but Big Fish is our favorite overall experience. - Adam P.Dupont Circle, Washington, DC097Apr 4, 2024
Food is great! Service is great! The ambiance is okay. The restaurant is in a strip mall. And there's no live music. You just show up eat and leave. The food quality and service far make up for a lack of ambiance!

The atmosphere is somewhat formal, but accommodates families. Sushi is by far the best in the area. Order your fish "big fish style" for Asian fusion type of meal. Great drink menu.

After a vacation full of mediocre dining experiences I wanted, well really, needed Big Fish to be the cat's pajamas.
The environment -
They sat us in the booth line behind the bar, it was dark and difficult to see. I could hardly read the menu.
The food -
I ordered the Grouper prepared with dill and capers. It came thick and tough. The second I had to pick up my knife to cut through the fish, I knew I had to send it back. It was promptly replaced with the Red Snapper prepared "Big Fish Style" sauteed fish, topped with scallions & ginger, served with spinach & jasmine rice in a sherry soy broth. I'll admit it was a solid dish, but is it worth $48, no. My toddler had the chicken and fries, heavy on the fries lacking in chicken.
Their servers and management are efficient and kind. I feel like I ordered wrong; sushi was likely the better choice.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 3 - 172491319Sep 4, 2023Updated review
Another awesome meal at Big Fish. We started with the fried Lobster Tail. Money!!! Ended our meal with the Golden Tile Special. Absolutely delicious. Kudos to Big Fish!

Anyway, they have Sushi and many Asian dishes now. Many fish choices, as well....Tile, Grouper, Mahi, etc all on the menu and prepared how you order it. I've posted the menus if you want to take a peek.
The restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a welcoming feel. A nice bar area is available if you prefer.
I ordered the Flash Fried Cold Water Lobster Tail - Wow is a great word to describe it. Absolutely a great dish...the wife, not a fan of lobster, loves it! The sauce that comes on it is incredible!
We ordered Sushi Rolls for our mains...The Awesome Roll, Rainbow Roll, Salmon Sashimi, and Unagi Sushi.
The Awesome Roll lives up to it's name...Awesome! The Rainbow Roll was so fresh and tasty...we are Sushi snobs so we know fresh sushi when we taste it. Unagi was fantastic and so was the Salmon.
All in all an amazing meal. Kudos Big Fish....you guys totally nailed it!!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDEDJun 8, 2015Previous reviewIt has been a long, long time since I wrote a bad review, but I feel the need to for Big Fish. People need to save their hard earned money or go someplace else. First, we ordered the gumbo, crab cakes and fried crab claws. The Crab Claws were good, but the gumbo was not good....that was my first clue. Then the crab cake was too heavily breaded and really bland and void of taste.
Let me preface this next part by saying that my wife has been seeing the advertising over the last 6 months and was extra excited about eating here. The pictures that they presented were of beautifully cooked and presented dishes that we were very excited about trying.
With that said, I ordered the grilled scallops and it was ametuerush at best. They proceeded to bring out 4 quarter sized, over-cooked scallops that I would expect on an all you can eat buffet. They were heavily cooked in soy sause and were darkened from this. I sent them back and explained that I just wasn't happy and really didn't care for them to make another attempt to cook them properly. Quarter sized scallops at $24 was just not going to cut it. Seriously, did they even look at their own advertising?
Very disappointing to say the least. We will not be coming back except perhaps for happy hour which had decent prices on drinks.
Wanted to like it, but the food was sub-par. Our waitress, Meagan, however, was very gracious and took the scallops off without question. And then got the manager to comp a dessert. So all was not lost.
Edit: The manager came out and apologized once we were ready to leave, and questioned about the problems with my main course. He explained that his supplier has been inconsistent with the size of the scallops that they provide. But if you advertise haute cuisine, at least keep to your standards or take them off. He gave us a $20 gift card that we may use for drinks, but after our experience, we won't be returning to eat. The problems with the gumbo, Crabb cakes and scallops were just too much. - Sandy B.Monroe, GA016Apr 18, 2024
Always amazed at the unbelievably good food and service we get at this restaurant. Tonight we tried a ridiculously good white chocolate honey bread pudding. The outside of the restaurant doesn't look like much, inside is a totally different story. Great experience overall.

This was my first time at Big Fish in Orange Beach, AL. This unassuming space nestled within a strip mall definitely met my expectations, as they were built up by family of mine.
The highlight of the menu is the page of fresh fish that can be prepared grilled, blackened, or bronzed; however, you may also choose the Chef's special which is a fish of your choice, bronzed and topped with lump crab meat, and paired with sautéed vegetables and sticky rice with a soy sauce reduction sauce.
The wine list was good, and service was excellent. Clean restaurant, clean bathrooms, and everyone was friendly. I highly recommend Big Fish if you are in the area and are in the mood for an elevated, seafood heavy menu in a business casual dining setting. Entrees run between $20-$50.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - David M.Ashland, KY09Feb 14, 2024
Unexpectedly a very nice place, good food and prices, would not expect the interior to look as nice as it does and in a strip mall.
