Big and Little's feels like a little bit of a Chicago institution to me, when I first came to Chicago I feel like I saw it everywhere on lists of good eats. They used to have a couple of locations and back then I would always try to pop in if I was in the area, now it's always a stop if I'm in Lakeview. I always get the ahi poke taco!!! If you love sushi or poke I highly recommend it's just a perfect bite of ahi tuna in a crispy shell especially with lemon squeezed over it. Their burgers are heavy and greasy and absolutely perfect. The classic Big and littles tacos have crispy and flaky fish!! The seafood across the board is fantastic!!! Their glory days are not over yet!!!

Sadly I think the good times have long past Big & littles. They had a couple of other restaurants that closed down. This location is the last one standing. I called in my order and when I walked in, the place was pretty much empty on a Saturday around lunch time. They also changed their menu a lot. I've had this place on my list to try for a log time, and they don't offer half the stuff they used to. They had a huge menu with Po Boys, three times the amount of tacos they offer now and burritos. I wasn't ready to give up on them yet, despite my disappoint in their current menu offerings. So I ordered their Big & littles Burger and their Spicy Beef Short Rib Taco.
The taco was actually quite tasty. They serve their tacos in corn tortillas, which is honestly the way to go. The beef was good and it was coated in a delicious spicy Thai sauce and topped with cilantro and onions. The sauce was more of like sweet and spicy sauce that went perfectly with the short rib. The burger unfortunately was not as great as the taco was. The bread seemed old. And tasted somewhat stale and the lack of flavor from the beef patty didn't help either. At least it was only $8, and didn't break the bank. Sadly, I don't think this visits warrants another visit.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Jun 4, 2023
A friend and I were discussing our love for Crunchwraps and he mentioned there was a place in Chicago that does fish Crunchwraps!
Him, his girlfriend, me, and my boyfriend all went to BIG & little's. We went right to the counter as there was not a big wait. It smelled very clean inside and the prices for the food were about what I would expect. We were greeted promptly and the guy taking our order was patient and polite.
HOLY MOLY... I did get the Raw Ahi Crunch Wrap. It had Sashimi Grade Ahi Tuna, Hard Shell Corn Tortilla, Rice, Greens, Pickled Ginger, Special Sauce, Samurai Sauce, and Wasabi Sauce.
I don't recall what anyone else had because I was having an experience! It was warm, tasty, and the ahi was fantastic! I feel like I dream about that crunchwrap.

First off, it's not a bad place. Had I just gone in blindly this would probably be a better rating. I saw the episode of Diner's, Drive In's, & Dives that featured Big & Littles. I could not wait to get the Al Pastor burger after seeing it on TV. Who wouldn't want a burger that had fried pork belly on it. Unfortunately no pork belly, just some kind of pulled pork on the burger. Once again not bad, but an extremely pale comparison to what they had on the show and what is listed on the menu (their menu even says there is pork belly on the burger). I would have made a comment to the employee behind the counter, but they really didn't seem care. There are definitely better places to go to than Big & Littles.

I got a cheeseburger and (Cajun) fries (what I always get in a place like this).
Both were quite salty. Really too salty. Could not finish the fries, but managed to finish the cheeseburger. Just ok. Would not go back unfortunately.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alvin P.Allen, TX127Aug 12, 2023
I really wanted to like it but the tacos were very much just okay and definitely way overpriced for what they are.
Service was somewhat rude and dismissive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1079114Oct 8, 2022
I know they're a bit of a Chicago staple but I don't really get the hype. My po boy was just okay and I got the saddest little taco I ever did see. Maybe it's poor menu navigation on my end but yeah, not impressed

Tried this spot for the first time after passing a few times. It's very easy to spot from the large mural. Luckily I happen to stop by on taco Tuesday. Great $2 tacos, but the full price is well worth it. The portion were tasty and generous. I ordered the Japanese short rib which was so tasty I ate it before taking a pic. Very tender. Also, I ordered the big and littles fish taco and carnitas. The namesake taco is first on the menu and very tasty with a nice big crispy piece of fish and an appropriate amount of toppings. The carnitas was very nicely cooked with some good evenly distributed caramelization to the meat with nice texture. Yummy! Definitely want to try the rest of their menu. Really good, affordable and convenient.

Greetings Foodzies, tonight on the recommendation of my good friend and coworker Rodriguez we went to Big & Little restaurant at 1032 w Belmont Ave. in Chicago. It has a very simple decor 8 tables with chairs (kind of hodgepodge) counter service (our server was Eddie) very pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere was laidback with a music service on a TV playing mixed rock and another TV with chive tv (a station with all types of daredevil acts and failures). There is a menu board behind the counter broken down into food sections, tacos, burgers sandwiches, hotdogs, wings and desserts.
We tried a few different items, fish and chips, the fries were delicious fresh cut skin on, the batter on the fish was oily and lacked flavor, the fish was cooked nicely. I had the Al pastor burger which was a burger with Al pastor meat, a little jalapeño, with American cheese and a grilled piece of pineapple. The flavors were all over the place, each bite different, spicy, sweet and savory. I liked it. We also tried several tacos, chicken taco, chicken was flavorful, Japanese spicy short rib , short rib with pickled Jalapeños, onion, queso fresco and samurai sauce. Thi was slightly spicy but tasty. Mexican beef taco, needed more flavoring. Whenever I have something Mexican flavored I expect a little spice. Spicy pork taco which was basically shredded pork cilantro, onions and a spicy sauce. Not bad again needed more heat.
My opinion is they're a bit overpriced for the size of their tacos. I give this place 3 1/2 stars. Try it out and let me know what you think. Ciao Ciao for now.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kendall C.Great Falls, VA18358351Jun 26, 2023
