Best Western Plus Orchid Hotel & Suites

We drove from La to here to stay the night before finishing our drive to Truckee to ski and it was the best idea! Breakfast was included and it was pretty good! There were so many options and they have a different breakfast item menu each day of the week.

This is your sign to stay at a hotel that serves breakfast so you can start your day offf without having to go searching for foood and still go back to your room and relax before heading out on your drive.

Amazing!
When we arrived, TOMMY checked us in after a bunch of what looked like a wrestling team was in town. Have many people in the lobby. It was kind of loud and you could tell the kids were excited to get to their rooms... the parents just wanted to get to their rooms... he had such patience for as rowdy I felt like it was. When it was our turn, Tommy was all smiles. He got us all check-in and let us know that there was a complimentary drink service available a few floors below ours. Where our room was located and told us ascot their continental breakfast they offered. It sounded YUMMY! We parked our car near where we were close to an elevator(TOMMY was helpful with that as well) and grabbed our overnight stuff and headed up.

Our room was squeaky clean and of course, we all love that when we walk in. There was a couch with coffee table, another table by door, a TV, a fridge microwave, lots of lights, a shower/tub, toiletries, a small coffee maker... not only was it squeaky clean, it was satisfying to the eyes with the soft lighting.

Their free adult beverage room offered a couple beers on tap and some wines. They also had Nachos available for snacking and the man in there was so nice

**Please don't forget to tip him for his amazing service. We laughed with the other couple in there as we watched Wheel of Fortune.

Their warm, hot continental breakfast is the best around! We stayed 2 nights... so we got to enjoy 2 days of perfect hot breakfasts! It could not have been run as smoothly as it did if NADINE & ROBYN weren't there. They were honestly were the stars of breakfast. They ensured the hot scrambled eggs and sausage never ran out for the guests(remember, I mentioned a wrestling team was checking in? Times the guests by 8 because they all came for breakfast!) They had waffle makers, biscuits & gravy(sausage gravy), oatmeal, cereal, coffee, juices, omelettes, ham slices... it was all so DELICIOUS!

We stayed for 2 glorious days and had superb service the entire time we were there!

We did git a snag where our TV and fridge stopped working. Maintenance came to our room to fix that issue and we were so on our happy way. There is a pill available for when the weather warms up. There is also a huge outdoor deck available for events, but it was taped off for maintenance at the moment, but it looks gorgeous for events.

As we checked out, CAROL was a gem. She was friendly and made sure to tell us to come back.

Thank you for an amazing getaway. It couldn't have been done without TOMMY, NADINE, ROBYN, & CAROL!

I would give this more stars if that was an option! I frequent this hotel when we are in town for specialty vet appointments. As a house cleaner I'm kinda picky about where I stay and this place checks that box plus more! The breakfast is fabulous! The staff is always friendly and the hot tub is a treat! Not to mention, one of the kitchen gals (Ladine) is the most amazing and friendly human! She noticed I was struggling one day, and offered a huge hug and so many words of support. She greets every guest with genuine kindness. That woman deserves a huge applause. I couldn't wait to see her this morning when i was back!

If you enjoy not having housekeeping do any cleaning, tousled sheets and lack of replenishment f toilet paper, go to this hotel. The clerk said they don't do housekeeping every day even if you specify you want it

The only clerk there on a Sunday night, a tight lipped lady, couldn't communicate any answers to my questions. When I talked to the manager the next day, she wasn't very courteous either. That was spooky because I thought hotel managers would seek to be not only gracious but do some problem- solving. Even just saying. " Hope you have a good stay, " would be reassuring to a guest. Two male clerks were very gracious and polite- I give them credit.

It's 2023 and I can't even get cable? You have Samsung garbage channels that come with the tv. That's not cable. It's trash and it costs you nothing. After a 14 hr drive I just wanted to lay in bed and watch my shows that I watch at literally every other hotel I've ever been to. Room is just okay

We found not one but two ROACHES in the room during a one night stay. In my history of staying at hotels, I've never had to deal with infestations until this location.

Staff behind check in desk do not wear masks but they have a clear curtain/draping that acts as a barrier. They are extremely short staffed so couldn't do early check in which can be a problem for people traveling and are tired/with children. Needed extra towels and have to go to front desk for it. They provide free breakfast but we didn't check it out as didn't really trust it given the roaches we saw in our room so can't imagine what's going on in the kitchen. There's an IHOP just down the road for breakfast.

Toilet in bathroom is very low so if you're elderly then this may be a problem with getting up and down. The toilet bowl is very shallow and has a low/not strong flush so be careful. Fan in the shower is not powerful so steam will accumulate fast.

Private dining area that can be separate from bedroom by sliding the wooden door. TV directly in front of bed and another TV in the dining area.

$110 for the night. They charge an additional $75 on a credit card for incidentals and this should disappear once you check out. Check out is just dropping off your hotel room cards into the front desk - they have a little clear case for it.

Overall I would not stay here ever again and shell out the extra money for a nice hotel.

I did a five night looseness day at this location. Even though the one building gave me somewhat of an older eerie feeling this day of the duration was quiet. The staffing was very nice and the African-American lady that prepares the free breakfast every morning is extremely inviting and on top of her job with managing the breakfast bar. For the most part this hotel went under a lot of renovation but in a particular room that I stayed in there's still some areas that needs attention. For example the bed mattress lower cover, dirty. The showerhead is not sealed off properly, and some of the furniture in the room is chipped. This hotel is located on a busy intersection close to the freeway but also very close to a lot of good eateries. A great feature of this location is the two drinks per night per room that they offer at the on-site bar but not available on Sundays. The outside deck area was it really nice as I had the opportunity to enjoy an early dinner outside one night during my stay. They also do provide you a parking lot pass which must also be present while your vehicle is parked on the property. The elevators are old with a little creaking to it, That provides access to levels one through three. Overall it seem to be a frequently visitEd Hotel.

Not a big fan of Best western plus orchid. So much has changed with this location. My wife and I stayed here right before the c19 pandemic, and it was nice back then. However, things have changed since then. My wife made reservations for an overnight staycation for February of 2023. When we first pulled up, I noticed what seemed to be a long-term guest, ok. We checked in and proceeded to our room; up to two minutes in the room, and saw a roach. At that point, I told my wife we were checking out immediately, which was disappointing because she had worked so hard planning!

Avoid making a reservation for this hotel through Hotelsone (online). I canceled my reservation within an hour of making it BUT even though Hotelsone put the charge on my card and the itinerary showed 'refund' the refund never went through. I contacted Hotelsone and they said they would speak to hotel--the hotel said manager not in and call back in 3 days.

Don't let the hotels photos full you. This hotel needs some TLC. We stayed here to be closer to the hospital the night before my wife's surgery. This hotel is supposed to be a 3 star but I'd give it a 2 star. We had to call downstairs 2 times to get a working remote for on of the tvs. They said they didn't knock cause we had a privacy please sign on our handle. Don't you think you'd call and ask if we still needed them nope. I had to go down to the lobby. Tv would take 47 seconds for anything to come on tv (yes I timed it) and the atleast 5 seconds between channel surfing.
Our room had different colored paint speckles throughout room (you can see in pictures)
The security gaurd sitting in lobby should have been dead give away. Don't stay here unless you absolutely need a place to stay.
