I am too overdue with posting my beamingly happy, glowing review for Zach's work!
I have a pretty big record collection and for years have wanted nice shelves to help organize and display them. I had a couple of vague ideas for what that would look like, and Zach was super helpful in helping me visualize the perfect way to customize them to the space in my apartment. He made a special trip here to talk me through the whole process, and followed up over a number of phone calls to help finalize everything.
The result you can see in my accompanying pictures. It's a super creative while also very pragmatic design, elegantly containing and arraying some seriously heavy weight with both style and grace. Every single time I have new friends over, they marvel at the workmanship, and I couldn't be more ecstatic about the high quality of Zach's work.
I recommend Zach super highly: you will not find a more professional, genial, skilled, or adroit shelver out there. Thank you again, Bernal Burly Man!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark F.San Francisco, CA187234Jul 19, 2018
Anthony and Bernal Burly Man do incredible work.
We booked Anthony for the day, to complete a bunch of projects:
-Demolish built in shelving to prep for wallbed install, haul away waste
-Mount and install thermostat
-Install electric house numbers on outside of house
-Cut out and install mail slot on outside of house
-Remove and patch various alarm motion sensors etc from old system
-Fix leak in downspout
-Repair grout
-Install lockbox
Anthony had great communication, texting in advance about our needs to make sure he came with the right materials. He was prompt, professional and clearly knows what he's doing! Anthony was attentive to every detail and asked all the right questions.
We've used other handymen from a variety of services (ThumbTack, referred via Yelp, etc) and thus far are most impressed with Bernal Burly Man!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 262184102Jun 1, 2010
Arrived on time. Came in under estimate. Nice to work with. Put in electrical line for a washer/dryer, and built a wooden enclosure for my washer/dryer (see photos).
I highly recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lizabeth S.San Francisco, CA06Jan 26, 2017
Zach is wonderful and I only wish I had more things that I could hire him to fix. He has great communication and was very forthright and honest with me about the project I hired him to fix. I'd had an electrician install a bathroom fan for me but they did a very poor job of it. Zach fixed it efficiently and let me know exactly where the problems had been. Now we have a proper working fan and my gratitude. Even if Zach is booked a ways out, I promise he's worth waiting for to have him work on your project.
This may seem like a small thing, but I was also happy to be able to pay him with PayPal because who has paper checks anymore? I'm not even sure if those still exist.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Matty K.San Francisco, CA696Feb 16, 2010
As long as I've known Zach he's had a tool near at hand. It was no surprise to learn that his family literally built the roof over their heads.
I've seen Zach construct everything from an indoor Zen water fountain to a fully landscaped backyard. He has chopped wood to keep us warm, found, refurbished and installed a washer and dryer in my narrow laundry room and built two different tables for me in two different homes - not to mention helping with the move every time.
Having him in your vehicle is virtual insurance that you will get to your destination, no matter the distance.
When Z says he'll do it, he does it. I've always been wowed by the quickness and quality with which he executes. If you're interested in learning how to do it yourself or just need some help with your own project, he is a great teacher. I am a handier man having known this Handy Man.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex W.Los Angeles, CA11220Apr 20, 2017
Zach is seriously the best! I am an interior designer with a very high standard of work and Zach always goes above and beyond. He brings a knowledge to his work that is invaluable. I feel confident asking him questions like "Is this possible" "What is a work around for this issue" etc. He even has a great eye for design and added a design element to my last project as a solution for a kink we ran into (of course, asking first). Not to mention, he is such a nice guy.
In a word of unreliable Task Rabbits, Zach is someone you can count on. Couldn't recommend him more!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rob W.San Francisco, CA235Oct 28, 2015
Zach has done a number of projects for us. He's reliable, organized, capable, and intelligent. He replaced roofing material for us on two porch areas. The work was solid and he came back to test for soundness after a rain. (Back when it did rain in San Francisco!)
I'd recommend him with confidence.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steven L.Los Angeles, CA11912Jun 19, 2013
Zach was terrific: quick, smart, friendly, polite, and deft at handiwork.
As soon as he arrived, he noticed the shoes in our entry way, and asked whether he should take off his own shoes.
We had him handle a variety of tasks, including hanging hardware such as coat hangers and shelving. He worked independently, but always consulted w/me if any issues arose. Not one of his questions was unnecessary. In one instance, we brainstormed about solutions for one shelving unit, and he went to the hardware store to buy additional hardware to help make the shelving unit more robust.
Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the work he did for us. He spent 2.5 hours at our house, and charged $195 (including two S hooks and two L brackets). Not cheap by any means, but absolutely worth every penny.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Atlee C.Lower Haight, San Francisco, CA0181Apr 25, 2017
Anthony just left our apartment and I am super happy with the work he did. I needed a dresser put together that came in way more pieces than I thought. I contacted Zach and he was super quick to get back to me and find a date and time that worked. Anthony was quick, professional and just a really nice guy. Would 100% contact these guys again for another job.
