Ben Dew’s Clubhouse Grill

Well I'll be danged. I have live in this area for decades and this is the first time here. This is a very transitional diner with a 55+ menu section. Probably why most customers seem that age. The service was attentive and quick. Place has a darkish atmosphere, but that works for us. Food was diner good and goods portions. Will be back, most likely for the extra outdoor seating area- no view, just outside.

Used to be a fave place for my family. Yesterday we went as a group to celebrate our father's 98th birthday. Private dining room waitress was very curt, dictated who could sit where, and was overall kinda unpleasant. When our dad was giving a small speech about his life, waitress and another server were loudly gossiping IN the dining room, and we were unable to hear our dad speak.

Ruben sandwich literally had meat on one half the sandwich. Tepid temperature on hot foods. Poor coffee.

What happened, Ben Dew's? Overall, a pretty poor experience on what should have been a nice celebration.

So we were in need of some sustenance and were like sure why not. It's definitely not a new, hip, or trendy place. But the servers are friendly and pretty attentive. The food is just meh okay. The hash browns were definitely more crunchy than fluffy potato. The chicken fried steak was definitely a bit over cooked and I couldn't cut through part of it even with the steak knife, pretty dry from the over fry. The eggs were great, not runny and fluffy. It was just okay, nothing spectacular and I would not go out of my way to go back for a breakfast stop. On the way out we did notice moss growing inside the foyer/walkway area which was bit of an "um what" moment.

Probably one of the most reliable of eateries in Tacoma.This establishment has been around forever and you can understand why.Seasoned waitstaff don't miss a beat.Plenty of dining room for family and individuals plus a popular bar dialed into sports channels.Had breakfast today and not for the first time but it was time to write this place up.Homemade corned beef hash,eggs and a biscuit was for my better half and I went for one of the daily specials,pork chop,hash browns,eggs and toast.Chop was cooked to perfection.Little bit of crisp on the hash and fluffy scrambled eggs.The place does get busy,so naturally a bit of noise and you can hear the patrons in the bar enjoying themselves.But there is a separate dining area if you don't care for that kind of thing,which is very quiet.Staff are friendly,patient and helpful.You really can't go wrong with Ben Dew's.They also do seasonal meals,which I've had..so come the holidays this is a decent place to come to.

Decent food. Stiff drinks. They're finally back to a larger menu. There's pretty much something for everyone.

I've been coming here for years. Food and service is always good! Atmosphere is nice and prices are reasonable!

I actually worked at Bendews when I was a young adult! It was always a nice place to work, so figured I'd check out the bar since we were in the area. Although a bit of an older crowd, the servers were very nice and my drink was much less expensive than any of the bars we normally go to. I would stop back in for sure!

Terribly disappointed on this visit. I was hoping for some good Buffalo wings. Not only were they breaded wings, there was no sauce what-so-ever. Nothing. When I asked for some Buffalo sauce I was told they don't even have any!
Luckily I had brought my own- I generally take a hotter sauce if I'm planning on having wings.
Anyway, these should not be called Buffalo wings.

Ate here today for the last time!! Don't waste your money or time eating here! The food is nasty and the service is mediocre at best! The restaurant is filthy! The servers all act the same, like they hate customers coming in. Staff is not friendly and the food is disgusting!! Serving crap food and getting mad at the customer for it! I didn't cook or serve myself that SLOP! They should be ashamed of themselves!!

Service is almost non-existence they stare at you a lot and walk by you a lot even when they are almost empty..... After a third experience won't be going back.
