Lived here for about a year and half before I found a place to buy. It was perfect. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside units are nice and well maintained. Thoughtful touches like double paned windows. Laundry and trash chutes on every floor. Reasonable management that let me go month to month after first year and didn't raise rent, which was nice as I was looking to buy. I miss the restaurants and shops within walking distance on sawtelle. Rent was very reasonable and it seems like a hidden value and gem on the west side.

Rent here is cheaper than surrounding complexes, considering you are living in wla. Nothing wrong with on-site managers, they are wonderful and do their best to help you. The problem lies with the owner. He is rude, obnoxious, difficult, and condescending. He is hot-tempered and will come to his own conclusions without looking at facts, and treats you like trash. He uses crass, foul language which is inappropriate and entirely unprofessional. He doesn't listen to you at all, and rips you off when you try to move out. All my friends who lived in the building experienced the same hell that I am experiencing now. Do not expect security deposit back - He will estimate exorbitant costs for everything. Not only that, but the amount that exceeds the security deposit, he will take out of your pet deposit as well, if you have a pet. Even though your pet may not do any damage, he will find an excuse. I guess that's what happens when you live at a cheap complex - rent may be cheap, but he makes it up by never giving you your security deposit back. I had to consult a lawyer and notify him that I would take legal action for him to give me my pet deposit back.
In addition to ridiculous owner problems, the tiles are old and worn out, and owner will refuse to replace them. Also, there is a major ant problem with the complex, something I dont know is even fixable considering that they go by the hundreds into several apartments every summer. When you consult management, they can do nothing but buy some ant killing spray and give it to you to spray down the areas the ants are crawling in yourself. The trash chute reeks, and owner comes into the apartments without advance notice - another unprofessional and completely illegal act.Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
