Chef B.
Beignet was started as a way to make Kansas City smile from eating the best Cajun cuisine in town. We wanted a meal here to be filled with Southern hospitality, so we use an open-kitchen layout so you can see our chef's passion and care shine through in every dish we cook up. With our Voodoo candle section and authentic gumbo and beignets, you'll feel like you've left Missouri and gone straight to Louisiana.

Sadly, they are closed down. Hopefully KC will see the brillance of Chef Bryan and his team again soon!

This was great! I wanted to try something different from our normal places we visit in kc and this was a hit! I got the kitchen sink creole, my husband got the catch gumbo and our friend got kitchen sink jambalaya, we split garlic bread and my husband and I shared an order of beignets with the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake dipping sauce.
The portion of entree was more than I could eat, since we don't live in the area we sent the leftovers home with our friend.
This was my first time trying crawfish and just gonna say I don't think I'm a fan so I think next time I'll do the big easy. The garlic bread was perfectly crispy and I liked it a lot.
The beignets we liked so much we didn't even get a picture we ate them so fast, he says they are a must next time we are here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

It was a pleasure having you in, Chelsi! There's nothing we love more than knowing our customers are leaving happy and full. Hope you get the picture the next time you're in.

A City Market staple, Beignets is a fantastic option for breakfast, workweek lunch, dinner, delivery, take-out, or even catering. Classic Cajun food, my personal favorite is their jambalaya with chicken and sausage. One of my best friends often craves their shrimp and grits. If you're really hungry, their seven-cheese macaroni is super delish.
I tried the Waldorf Savory Beignet and it wasn't for me, but be sure to save room for their traditional beignets and don't sleep on the dipping sauce! One time at work we ordered Beignets for an overtime dinner and we got a tray of traditional beignets with ALL the dipping sauces - it was seriously heaven. Beignets are perfect for any party!
Like most restaurants located in City Market, their space is small and fills up quickly during peak times, especially during nice-weather market weekends. But I appreciate their additional "outdoor" seating (underneath/within the City Market enclosure).
The staff has always been kind to me. I love the eclectic space that fits the vibe. All-in-all a must-keep establishment for KC.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

Lindsey, we've got different beignets for all of your cravings! Thanks for taking the time to leave this review. They go hand-in-hand with our dipping sauce. I hope you'll join us again whenever you're in the area.

This was my first time trying beignets and they were AWESOME!! I'm not even much of a sweet tooth person but this was the perfect type of food for that! Sweet enough but not overly sweet (unless you want it to be with the dipping sauces).
It was sooooo good that we had to come back TWICE during our trip in KC! If I'm ever back I am definitely paying this place a visit again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks for finally coming in to try us out, Julia! It was a pleasure serving you our beignets. We're happy to have you in as many times as you'd like. Hope to see you in the restaurant again soon.

I ordered the Mac n cheese topped fried chicken and it was spectacular! The Mac n cheese definitely had 7 cheeses. The chicken was fried perfectly, moist and seasoned well.
I ordered tea as my drink, and I wish I wasn't so full because you have the luxury of trying them all. I can only attest to how good the mango mint and swamp juice is. Although the swamp juice isn't actual tea it's grape juice, pressed apples, and mango nectar!
Since I've never been to Louisiana or tried a beignet, I don't think I could get any closer while in Kansas...so here goes nothin! I'd be lying if i said it doesn't remind me of a powdered donut, but I can definitely tell it isn't one.
A beignet seems carefully crafted and a very delicate dessert. I would love to try other sauces, but I think the Lemon is very well paired.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Diane, it sounds like you had an all-around delicious experience while you were with us! That's amazing, and exactly what we hope for with every one of our guests. Thanks for trying the fried chicken, as well as our signature beignets, and a few of our drink options. We'd love to have you back soon.
All the best,

Some friends who have had beignets before found out about this place on our visit into town and I am glad we checked it out. We walked up with the line literally out the door and a wait longer than I normally accustom myself too; however, it was well worth it.
The beignet (fritter) was so light and tasty with the powdered sugar and they had a plethora of dipping sauces, including some signature creations. They have a full kitchen too, so there are many additional menu choices if you want to skip on the beignets. Huge plus was the flavor of themed coffee, as it was unique and not something I have had before since I have never been to NOLA.
This in the busy City Market (which is definitely worth checking out) and there are not that many seats inside the restaurant, but there is seating in the walkway area in front of this and the other shops and restaurants.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Kirk, we're really glad you got to try us out and enjoyed our seasonal coffee options! We loved getting to serve you something delicious.

Counter service New Orleans-themed food stall inside City Market. Known for sweet & savory beignets, crêpes, and classic Cajun dishes. I went on a Saturday and there was a long line, but it moved quickly. Given a buzzer for your food. Some seating both inside and out, but it is really crowded and hard to get a table. I got the Mr. Bacon beignet and it was delicious and super fluffy. It reminded me of a gourmet hot pocket. It came with chips and a great dipping sauce. I would have preferred more beignets than 1 for the meal.

My husband and I love love love Beignet! This place is a must if you are in the river market (and now Westport too!) Their food is delicious, you won't regret it! We have had their Po'boys sandwiches, Mac and cheese, gumbo and étouffée..my favorite is the gator bait or the kitchen sink for meat options! Their beignets is course are always recommended and their teas are good too! We cannot wait to try their breakfast!
PS get the candied bacon corn bread too! So good with butter and maple syrupHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I mean it's about time, am I right? This tiny space at the river market finally brings some legit Cajun food to Kansas City. We went for the beignets, but everything was so good. I got the shrimp etouffee and cornbread. It was a bit spicy but oh so tasty. Of course we got and devoured the beignets. Along the way we had several new guest come on and ask us about recommendations. The vibe was so friendly and definitely like being down in NOLA. I will be a repeat customer when I'm

Based on GrubHub food delivery, order placed thru Yelp!
I am an out-of-towner and was curious of the different array of food choices here, compared to California. I ordered two items to get a good idea of what was offered. My plan was to eat half of each for breakfast and then save the other half for lunch. Well, the excitement of my fig brie crepe got the best of me. I ate it within a minute!! I remorsefully looked over at my garlic cheese grits with sauteed spinach and dusted eggs, wishing I would have left more room. Nevertheless, I dug into that delightful dish and was sooo happy I did! While I couldn't eat as much as I wanted, I'm excited to save the rest for lunch!
Fig Brie Crepe- Comes with a sweet topping that is non-negotiable. It wraps up the flavors well. They stuff the crepe with an abundance of filling. Preferring less, I ended up scraping a lot off. I could have used that much filling for 2 crepes. I see this as a value and bonus, especially since I might have felt jipped to pay $6+ for a sparsely filled crepe :-)
Garlic cheesy grits with spinach and dusted eggs- I'm practically speechless. Best grits I've ever tasted. Eggs are unique and spinach is perfectly cooked.
I would definitely recommend Beignet based on their food alone :-)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

A great tasting beignet in place in KC indeed! We came here before dinner otherwise I would've ordered more than two. Light, fluffy, and endless dipping options/combinations, what's not to love about this place. Wish I could go back and get more, but I'll just have to wait until next time I'm back in the area.
For dipping sauce I got the caramel apple and bacon, which was a great sweet/savory combo. My sisters ordered cream cheese and white chocolate shavings which also tasted great but super sweet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We're glad to hear you think so, Ijeoma, and that you took advantage of some of our dipping options! The carmel apple and bacon combo is a great choice. You'll just have to come back again to try the rest of the flavors!
See you then,
