Beautifully presented food that tasted great. I had the Caesar salad, and really enjoyed the balance of salty bacon and crunchy, bitter cos lettuce bound together with creamy dressing and just a hint of anchovy. Will definitely return to sample some more of the menu, as they had some beautiful sounding items such as cinnamon pancakes.
The coffee was genovese. They were quite proud of genovese's Melbourne heritage; I just wish they would have a look at some of the amazing boutique roasters we have available in Melbourne that are among the best in the world.
Tea on offer from T2 and yarra valley tea co. Included the normal offerings of herbals and "English breakfast" etc.
The room was fairly small, but well lit. The staff were friendly without being cloying. The place got very full at lunch time, but the staff managed nicely.
All up, the food is worth returning for, but if you want great tea or coffee, you will have to travel further towards the city than croydon.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Justine W.Kilsyth, Australia163820Aug 28, 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Even though it is in the suburbs it has a bit of a city feel.
While there was not anything vegan - they did have several vegetarian dishes. Their coffee (soy latte) was one of the better ones I've had. :)
The staff was very nice and friendly. I will be going back!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Simon M.Kilsyth, Australia2212996Aug 16, 2013
Great food. I especially enjoy the breakfast there. From bacon and eggs to something sweet they have it covered. Great coffee aswell.
Only a small place but well worth a visit. Staff are very friendly and make it a fun place to eatHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kate H.Croydon, Australia023Aug 2, 2013First to Review
Beckendales is a fantastic local cafe that has a great atmosphere, delicious home made food, great coffee, scrumptious cakes and owner Dale is always up for a good chat. The locals love this place, great food & quick service with a smile. Breakfasts on a Sunday is a must, but get there early to avoid missing out on a table. It's the place to be in Croydon.
