I can't believe I haven't rated this restaurant before! We stopped in this weekend and I was shocked to see that I didn't have a review in here already!
This place is kind of hidden. The parking lot is behind so sometimes it looks closed. It's a great spot! They have a great beer, cider and seltzer list. They always have some selections I've never seen other places and it's always changing. The cocktails are always on point too. This time since we were there at noon when it opened we decided to try some of the cold brew cocktails. Delish. Mine was a seasonal Buckeye Cold brew and my aunt got the cold brew and rumchatta.
The sauerkraut balls are a do not miss item. They are sooooo good. The house made pickles on the side of every plate are to die for.
This time I got the bbq mac n cheese. It's so good. My husband got the smoked meatloaf sandwich. He loved it. We got some smoked wings. Always delicious. My uncle got the brisket. Everything is as so good.
We will always go back. It's a go to for usHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 18, 2017Previous reviewThis place is a staple on our list of places we love to go. The beer and drink selection is huge, their house brewed beers are a favorite of ours. They have THE BEST sauerkraut balls ever! Their smoked wings are SO good, they are a little on the pricey side for wings, but they are so unique and so good! Best cuban sandwich I've ever had. And don't forget their house-made pickles. Very good!

You know, i rarely leave another review for places that I frequent, this place deserves a repost. Pandemic aside, we love coming here. When rd 1 came through, we supported them. They came out with this reservation system for dining in , i was hesitant, but happy they did. Being prepared is better than winging it. If the state wants to know a proper process/ procedure for restaurants, they need to look no further than here. The temperature check, the server, the cook, the food , and most importantly the beer, was spot on. Updates on social media is outstanding, no one that i know of is utilizing it the way it is supposed to. Keep up the good work.

Oh, interesting setup Yelp.
I haven't been to SmokeHouse in years, sadly. They used to host a couple groups I would meet up here for, and we would always get the sliders and beer.
My date works nearby and asked to meet up here, so it was a sign!
Now, it's the same old place I've always remembered it as. It's not fancy. It's down to earth. It's comfortable.
They're still running on a skeleton crew, which I hate (this place used to be so crowded you knew you'd need to call ahead to get in!)
So - service was still good. They were fast and attentive to every person there.
I tried the Czech Pilsner - solid representation of the style. Crisp on a cold day.
We ordered scotch eggs, Buffalo chicken, sauerkraut balls, smoked chicken salad, and the bbq Mac and cheese.
Not a good representation of their main foods I should've ordered brisket or ribs!
Lack of BBQ aside, it was alllll good.
The Scotch Egg was nice and crispy, perfectly done egg. Serves on a greens bed with balsamic. But that dipping sauce is tasty
The Buffalo chicken was super cheesy - not chicken heavy. And a few extra accoutrements I'm not used to (tomatoes! Delicious).
The sauerkraut balls were that base level of "yup, delicious salty balls in your mouth." No complications.
The bbq Mac and cheese was tasty (I stole a bite).
The smoke chicken salad - on a bed of greens ("carbs are the enemy," he says, as he drinks his beer) with balsamic.
Yes, you can get it on bread, but see above.
It's smoky, a little sweet, a little spicy. Great flavor profile.
So it's at an impasse - it's too far away for me to make this a regular rotation, but it's still good to swing by and grab a beer and a bite when I am in the area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0May 9, 2018Previous reviewSmokehouse has continually left me unimpressed in many ways.
A real defining tribute of a place is consistency - in beer, in food.
Smokehouse *Ales* have improved drastically. Their beers have become consistent! That's good.
Their food, however, has not. I'm no longer a fan of popping in for a bite, because the buns often taste stale, the food looks like it's been under a heat lamp, and I'm usually left feeling unfulfilled when I am craving barbecue.
Come for the beer and an appetizer, but otherwise, unless they improve, I'd go elsewhere for your BBQ desires.Jun 10, 2011Previous reviewI usually get the boy-oh-boy platter, because most of the food is not exactly anything that blows me away.
I've been here with a small group from my days at Nationwide to my time at Web Analytics Wednesday with a huge-ass group of people. Somehow, the server always keeps orders (and drinks) straight. I think I can simply echo Bryan's review - the beer is better than the food, and the food is pretty good. - Alex S.WV, WV02321Oct 18, 2023

First I want to say that service was jimmy johns speed which is not normal for bbq restaurants so I appreciated that. The port don't look like much from the picture but this was a lot of food for not the much money. I easily could split this in to two meals if I wanted. Flavor wise, the pulled pork and baked beans were the highlight. Tots are always just okay and the Mac and cheese could have been better. This was my first time trying a scotch egg and I like the concept but the execution wasn't great , it was a little over fried for me. I did have the wings a couple days ago and they were pretty solid. My one true issue is how can you serve bbq and not have sweat tea?! Several of my friends and I went to see the Midwest comedy tour in July 2023. The service was awesome, food & drinks - excellent & ambience - fun!
We are looking forward to another comedy night!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 18, 2022
Treated ourselves to their smoked corned beef and cabbage special for St Patrick's Day yesterday. While it was good-ish, it was incredibly expensive for what you got. $18 per dinner for about 6 small slices of corned beef, some baby potatoes, and half a container of cabbage. There was a small container of mystery sauce. Maybe horseradish and butter? Maybe garlic? No idea but it tasted mostly like oil.
It tasted OK despite the beef being dry and the potatoes had almost no flavor. I expected dry because it's smoked meat, but it just wasn't great. The cabbage has the most flavor and was really good. So yay for the cabbage!
All in all, we were glad to support a local business but were underwhelmed. Not feeling this will be an annual tradition.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 5, 2022
We visited the week they were closing and enjoyed our time. We sat with our dogs on the patio and enjoyed a beer flight along with the smoked meat platter. Hopefully they reopen at some point as we would definitely visit again.

Do not eat food here. I cannot speak about the beer. we came with friends and they really like the beer. It took two hours for our meal to be delivered and when it finally was delivered, it was lukewarm at best. The brisket was literally rectangles of chewy, tasteless, grey meat. All of the other food was tasteless as well. We waited a total of three hours with an excessively long wait for the checks. As three couples we clearly identified with the server how the checks should be divided up. When we finally got the checks, beer was on the wrong tickets and two food items were on the wrong tickets.
The owner should go back to being an architect.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 19, 2022
My dad loves it here. Met him here for an early dinner on a Sunday. Lots of free parking available. We ate outside on the porch which was nice but not very decorative. My dad loves the wings here. I got the melt which was good and came with a lot of meat. The meat tasted a little dry to me. The appetizers of nachos and sauerkraut balls were tasty and had lots to share around the table. I thought prices were very fair to the amount of food you get. The menu was also quite large and had lots of options to choose from. The waiters were friendly. Overall the food was good but I don't know if I have a big reason to come back besides my dad loving it.
