Yelping Dog Wine

Establishments in Northern VA can learn a thing or two from spots in Staunton and Charlottesville. We were walking down Beverly Street in downtown Staunton and not one but two friendly employees came out of Barking Dog to invite us into their abode. We hung out for another 2 hours. The beer and wine list is second to none, and the sandwiches we understand are excellent (although we just drank). Conversation behind the bar was something besides sports. Imagine that! History, jazz, craft beers, the Muppets, Rosemary's Baby and The Ice Storm (movies). A new favorite in this great little town.

Put this cozy neighborhood place on your list asap! Amazing wine and beer selection, beautifully displayed in an old retail space complete with pressed tin ceilings .
Small but impressive menu of cheese plates, crostinis, and craft desserts. We had the tomato and the Swiss/Carmelized onion crostinis along with some really nice wine and beer. Service was outstanding, owner Jen was funny and engaging. Server Emily was a sweetheart.
Great place for a nice glass of wine and an appetizer, or just to hang out at the really comfortable bar. Felt like family when we were there. Thank you we will be back.

Nice place to hang out for a glass of wine but the food just isn't good. Okay, have some wine but get decent food almost anywhere in town but yelping dog. I had tomato soup that tasted like unsalted canned tomato sauce. Horrible!!! My 5 year old can at least open a can of Campbell's tomato soup.

The owners are friendly as well as the staff. Local wines can be had here as well as local cheeses. The food, pricing, vibe, and all other offerings makes this a worthwhile find!

It's also attached to a cool men's store, which is pretty rare, especially in small towns. They've got some good stuff!

Great use of a space with care and carefully curated menu it's a treat to enjoy! The soup was great and grilled cheese was Devine. Great spot to fun gift ideas as well.

I wish this place was in my hometown! A wine bar with grilled cheese, cheese plates, and other charcuterie. The waitress was excellent and very knowledgeable. I ordered the cfo grilled cheese on her recommendation. I usually shy away from goat cheese (chevre) but this sandwich was the perfect meeting of melty, sweet, buttery, and crisp. The bottles for sale in the shop appear to be fairly priced (most between 20 and 30) and the atmosphere is both friendly and sophisticated. A gem for anyone who loves wine, beer, or cheese!

This place is so cute and perfect for a glass or so of wine. The service is amazing. Not only are they knowledgeable in wine, but they also try very hard to help find the perfect wine for you (including price which is sweet, because they don't try to make you spend more than you want too). I also love the dog theme. The menu has their dogs cartoon on it and they have cute books with dogs and wineries! I love everything about this place and will be here anytime I visit!!! Definitely a must, especially for the kid humans who work here!

Listening to local artists and drinking wine at one of our favorite hang outs ! Named after there beloved pets ! Service is delightful and outside seating is the best! So real and peaceful on an autumns day!

I stopped in looking for a particular wine which I couldn't find. Nancy was absolutely wonderful! She hopped on the phone with her wine rep and spent about 15 minutes talking with them about what I was looking for. THEN she spent another 10 minutes sharing what she learned. She was beyond gracious and their customer-centric focus was clearly evident!

Re: food. I had the Apple and hot honey crostini with a glass of Viognier. Perfect!

Opted out of the wine I was searching for, but had a delightful visit. I will be back!
