Barge Inn Tavern

We had a pleasant Christmas Eve breakfast here. The whole place had a very small town everyone-knows-everyone feel even being right along the Main Street which gave it a nice vibe for us. Food was nothing crazy but hit the spot. The bartender/server was very nice.

This place caters to three classes of people. I believe I fall into the riff-raff category.

This is a dive bar frequented by commercial fishermen. You know, real men who work hard at real jobs that most people (like me) wouldn't last five minutes at. So if you come in with a self-important attitude you may find the experience not to your liking. And if you get sassy with the wait staff, you definitely will not enjoy your visit.

These girls and cooks work very hard for not much money. It's a tough job that is probably too difficult for you to do. If you are appreciative, friendly and polite to them, they will knock themselves out to serve you. But if you give them attitude, things may not work out so well for you.

Love this little place. Decent food although I usually grab seafood elsewhere. I go there mostly to relax after walking around and have a cold brew or two.

It's a tavern, right? Nothing fancy. Definitely not pretentious. You'll get a good value and you'll be treated well if you don't come off like an entitled child.

If you want to be pampered there's a place just down the street where you won't get much change from a Benjie that will be happy to take your dough.

Great find. Clean place, friendly staff, great food, reasonable prices. Has a full bar, TV for sporting events and good seating options. Medium size place, roughly 40-50 people?

Had the bacon burger and a Mack n Jack Amber beer. This is the best burger I've had in a while. Very impressed and I will be back, when visiting.

We've been coming to Newport for 10 years, and every time we say we need to try this place, but it looks a little intimidating! We finally went, and found a parking spot on the side of the building. Parking can be a real challenge, so we felt fortunate. Inside was unexpected, really nice, like upscale dive bar! Service was very good, waitress very friendly. We sat at one of the high top tables. Lots of local workers from the docks. We ordered the side salad, which was huge, not a lot going on. Also got the bilge burger, chowder and tots. Really decent food.

Came in last night for some dinner, found a table but moved within 5 minutes to the bar because no one had acknowledged us. Sat at the bar and after 5 minutes ordered dinner and drinks. I ordered a buffaloes chicken salad it was good but basic, and a rainier, my hubs ordered a double burger and beer and loved it.wewawaaq-Underhanded

The service was very good. I had the Bilge Burger with curly fries. The burger was surprisingly good for a single cook and working out of a small area. Good quality ingredients.

Great Burger ... fun staff, great selection of beers and cocktails. Just a great overall Tavern

Patient and understanding. I do understand that people get busy and have bad days.

My original review showed my phone call took less than 1 minute. We knew what we wanted to order. And we were ordering take out. So how coming in to be served or to order take out would have made a difference is beyond me.

Now the business wants to try to shame me? Shame on you.

As I said we knew what we wanted to order but needed to ask two simple questions. ONE MINUTE. That's how much time I inconvenienced Tiff.

She was rude. There is no excuse for that. None. Try to justify it all you want. I review places all the time. I frequently give the benefit of the doubt. I access current situations and take those into consideration.

Service was excellent. The food is mostly burgers and whatever they can make in the deep fryer but the burger is very good and it is a normal size. You do r have to do mouth stretches to bite into it like a lot of places these days. If you're in the area and looking for a burger and onion rings put this place on your list

Great food and drink. Nice atmosphere- quick service and a very nice waiter. The Barge Burger was to die for! Loved the onion rings. What a nice little place even has parking right next to the pier!
