After 12 hours in the ED the following has not happened... the Doctor on shift has not reached out to the stroke team at Hermann Memorial, my husband has not been given his medication that the stroke team has strictly instructed us that he can not miss a single dose! He has not had an MRI or MRA even though 7 weeks ago he had a stroke. This hospital said it was a TIA, Hermann memorial conformed upon arrival via ambulance transfer (at HM request) that he did in fact have a stroke not a TIA. They had him in MRI as soon as he hit the unit there. He has not been checked on even when his alarm is sounding. He has been provided no food and one cup of water. In 12 hrs. The doctor barely assessed him in the hall and not again. He briefly came in and said he wanted to keep my husband for observation and testing. No such test have been performed. I will not choose this hospital again. Even though our first experience was way more professional and satisfactory. They may have been mistaken about the TIA, however they were quick to phone in the experts and move out of the way.
The doctor on shift either has a huge ego or is racist. Actually both!

Dr. Oomen and his wife need to have a performance review. Incredibly rude, unreliable, and funny with pricing over billing.

The way you speak and handle patients with NEUROLOGICAL issues needs a complete and total overhaul. The wife (office manager) will tell you she needs to 'think about it' when you come in the office needing to schedule it. She says she'll think about it and get back to you. Also, they don't know how to check insurance.

They don't care because they are 1 of 2 neurology offices in the area. People are taking their business and concerns 1 1/2 hours to Houston now.

horrible service in the ER. I set for 9 hours before seen . The registration and nurse in conversation the whole time about 5 working in the window ignoring the line. I tried to ask how much longer the nurse brushed me off. I would never come back or recommend Baptist Hospital. floor dirty not a janitor in sight. The nurse walks away from the line. The registration person on the phone 5 people just waiting.

I'm currently at Baptist now. I came in on the 28th to be induced and after nearly 24 hours of being in labor I was finally able to start pushing. The nurse was extremely rude when I cried from being in pain since she let my epidural run out. She told me I needed to get control of myself. I was attempting to push out an 8 pound baby whose head was stuck behind my pelvis. They finally did a c section on me and in the room after the c section the same nurse was there and asked me about the father and so I was honest and told her he wasn't in the picture, he's not going on the birth certificate and that I didn't know his name and she proceeded to ask prying questions and I answered with as little detail as possible. This morning I had a visit from a social worker and the social worker said that the lady said that me and my mom are prostitutes. The only thing I've gotten from a man after being in bed with him is a cigarette but I suppose that qualifies me as a prostitute? But what pisses me off is the fact that she said that about my mom when my mom is in her mid 40s, finally divorced my father and is just now enjoying her life and no the woman isn't a prostitute. It's been years since she's had a friend or anyone over because she takes care of me and my younger siblings.

If i could give 0 stars I would. My husband went for a heat stroke, he was made to sit for 4 hours THEN put in a blood splattered bed in the hallway. The NP that was treating him did not even know that he already had xrays and blood work done. This is ABSOLUTELY rediculous!

So...12th January 2023, I had a terrible day. I hadn't slept or ate in a fewdays due to being sick. Ran errands then decided to turn around and drive to Altus in Lumberton, TX. They saw me for a screening but had no indigent program and recommended I go to Baptist Hospital which I did promptly and was registered at around 17:22. I began to get worse while waiting. Someone came through a few times with terrible perfume which set me off into coughing fits. I had to focus and concentrate since my breathing was shutting off. My back hurt from trying to breathe for days. When finally called to the back, they skipped triage and put me into a room. As I was getting up to go back, the coughing fits returned. I stumbled and had trouble. When I got into room, the coughing fits were so bad. I felt like I was drowning inside and was fighting to breathe. I was leaned over theside of the back of the bed. A Dr. Odom came in and put a bucket in my hands to spit up into. At no point did they offer oxygen or breathing treatment. I explained everything while I could still talk in the front before being taken back. I also thought to write down that I had trouble breathing and my capacity was almost shut off on a piece of paper because I knew I may not be able to breathe enough to explain right away. Three people at different times came in and barked my name loudly in scolding tones as though I was their dog or child and doing something wrong. I could not stop coughing and was afraid of suffocating. I could hear most of it but couldn't manage to speak. As I was concentrating on trying to calm the fits, an attendant came in started trying to take my arm out of my jacket and in doing so began pulling my clothes which choked me. He started harshly barking, "Do I need to force a breathing tube down your throat!?" I panicked and brushed the guy off of me and started trying to open my shirt to breathe. The attendant ran out of the room and immediately communicated that I'd assaulted him. At no point did anyone bother to look at the admission reports on why I was back there; I told them in the front that I had a lifelong history of respiratory problems: Asthma, severe allergies to things I explained, Alpha-1 Antitrypsen Deficiency, etc. I also told them that I had a hurt back and rib from the coughing. Suddenly, Dr. Odom came in ranting. He accused me of assaulting one of his staff and was feverish about it as he grabbed my arm. He started hitting me in a retaliatory manner as I was still in a coughing fit and unable to speak. Of course, it's easy to use oppression to pick on someone who is helpless and can't breathe. I gasped that he was assaulting me. He said, "No I'm not!" I told him that I was getting away and to keep his hands off me and not to touch me again. He kept arguing me and tried to coral me with staff. They tried surrounding me and block my path to get out. One girl kept saying, "Where are you gonna' go!? Where are you gonna' go, huh?!" She kept snatching at my clothes as I almost crawled out. It was traumatic, humiliating and dehumanizing. When I made it out, I got to my van and to my inhaler. Adrenalin had done the rest. I got away. That was one of the most frightening things...it was like a nightmare I've had before. Key information in this is that I indicated up front to them that I was indigent, homeless and without insurance. I was treated like a stray dog that had urinated in the floor and very possibly could have died due to their negligence and violence. Shame on Baptist Hospital for condoning this behavior and employing staff of this caliber.

I took my sick 1 year old daughter here on March 4, and told them about her history of having seizures when she has a fever. She had a fever of 100, and all they did was give her Tylenol and stick us back In the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours . I saw 7-10 people leave the ER, but we never got called back. There were also a few people who came in by ambulance that they just stuck in the waiting room and left there.
