What a wonderful rustic, off the beaten path beach this was. We visited in February, and essentially had the beach to ourselves. We practically park on the beach and went in. The water was perfect! It was not cold at all. We were able to get used to it. The water was clean but not the crystal blue water you may expect, but still it was very nice. We then stayed until the sunset and was able to see a beautiful scene.

YOU can find live sand dollars here. To the left side there is a coral like area with sea orchens and my husband believes he got stung by a jelly fish. $4 for parking. Small waves that you can still deal with. Water is not as clear as other places. There is restrooms and open shower stalls.

This beach is closed and abandoned although looks beautiful through the gates. Very disappointing to have taken the ride to find closed.

Disappointed. Bathrooms were non existent. There was a snack type thing with a toilet but it was gross. The water for the showers was off. Broken bottles and trash all
Over. Plus we had to pay $4 to enter.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jacqueline M.Cary, NC74616Mar 26, 2014
My husband and I visit his parents in Patillas almost every year and this is our go-to spot when we want to just chill and relax without the hassle of crowds and tourists. It's not a white sandy resort beach that most look for when escaping the cold weather; but it's everything to us. We pack up the car with a cooler, chairs, towels and hammocks and Punta Guilarte!
My one sole complaint is that they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We were leaving on a Weds and I wanted one last relaxing beach day and to see those gates closed and locked broke my heart. We ended up down the road at a different beach but it wasn't our little corner of paradise that we love (despite the yucky bathrooms).
I still give it 5 stars for letting me find peace, quiet and some sun.

So, this place isn't exactly a business anymore, but the infrastructure of what used to be a public beach and I think campground is still there. That being said it is an unkept public beach that, at least in February, is almost completely abandoned. There were some teens blasting reggaeton from their cars in the parking lot and a couple of guys running up and down the beach, but other than that we had the place to ourselves.
If you are looking for places to go where you can chill out and relax without paying for a private beach, and your idea of a "pristine beach" is negotiable... then this is the place for you! There is some scattered garbage and the beach isn't made of soft wide sand or anything... be being from Minnesota we aren't too picky about that. Again.. maybe this place kicks into high gear when Puerto Ricans are on summer break and this is not an adequate description, not sure.
My girlfriend and I wanted a place to be by ourselves and we wanted to try out the Caribbean side of the island, so we drove here from San Juan on a day trip. I'm not sure what it's address really is but you can find it on Google Maps and follow their directions.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angelina O.North Miami, FL260272Aug 18, 2013
If this review is for the beach in Arroyo then its a solid 3 stars. The water never gets deep and no matter what temperature its always super hot water. Theres no sand and a bunch of grass trees rocks and gross ants. The only thing that makes it fun is your family.
