While on a road trip to the northeast, we stopped by Balderdash Cellars for a wine flight. It is on a beautiful property, with plenty of seating inside and outside.
The wine was delicious, and also the flight was served in the cutest vials.
The staff working were wonderful and patient, helping us make decisions on what to try.
They have games to play while you're enjoying your wine, which is fun!
Definitely worth stopping if you're looking for a beautiful winery to visit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Pamela C.Pittsfield, MA7367Apr 22, 2024

Madeline was our server, she was amazing. She was so friendly and down to earth. She made our day a great experience. This was our first time visiting but we will definitely be back. The wine and the service were both amazing!

Great wines with amazing views! Highly recommend the Pinot Noir! They do flights of five pours. Great seating outside facing Richmond Pond. When we visited this weekend they also had a number of cute Halloween decorations and a selection of pumpkins and gourds.

My Mom and I stopped here to take a break from driving through the state on the Mass Pike. It's on top of a hill with parking in a gravel lot below. Cute signage directs you to the tasting room and flights are served in adorable little flasks. Outside is a beautiful view of a local pond, lots of tables and chairs including Adirondack chairs and there was even a live musical performance taking place at the time we visited. Further down the hill is a nice sunflower garden with many blooms.
The ambience here is definitely five stars. I found the wines to be good but nothing superb, although I didn't sample the ice wine which seems to have been well reviewed by others. The service was not bad, I would say three stars, but could use some improvement. I found it rude that a woman cut in front of me in line claiming she was picking up an online order and the servers didn't seem to care or ask her to wait her turn. Also, when we gravitated to sit in a shady area we were rather rudely told it was reserved and directed elsewhere. I later realized the staff person was pointing to a stack of Adirondack chairs apparently indicating we had to take these down and set up our own chairs if we wanted to sit in the shade outside the reserved area. It would have been nice if this was made more clear or if the person set up the chairs for us.
Flights are reasonably priced at $11. There was also a pizza vendor selling slices and pies when we visited and you can bring your own picnic.
Very clean bathrooms inside the tasting area.
Definitely looking forward to returning here for the atmosphere but they could do a little work on training the servers to be a bit more customer focused. - MacKenna C.Natick, MA10951Oct 21, 2023
A must visit while you're in town!! Balderdash exceeded our expectations on all fronts. We came on a hopping Saturday afternoon and enjoyed live music, board games, tasty food, a bustling crowd, a beautiful view, and INCREDIBLE wine (the Cab Sav is divine). More than that, we experienced the most memorable hospitality we've had in decades.
When we were stuck without a ride after close, the amazingly generous owner (Donna), insisted on driving 5 strangers to different hotels in separate directions. Ubers wouldn't connect and cab services were unavailable. Donna picked up on the stress of two groups instantly and brought her car around to take us home. We are eternally grateful for her generosity and spirit. She made us feel like family which is a rarity these days. This act of kindness speaks volumes to the passion and care the Hansons put into their craft. Please, add Balderdash to your list!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kayleigh F.Manchester, CT0121Apr 1, 2024
Amazing winery! We went here for a bachelorette party and had such a fun time. The Sauvignon Blanc was delicious and we had the whole barn to ourselves for the most part. Donna was so kind and the staff kept coming out to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back!

This is one of my favorite day trips from the Capital District. Plan to arrive close to opening time at noon because it is packed by 1. During the winter months seating is scarce, lines for the bathroom and wine service are long and it is very loud. Summer time, same issue with lines but you can snag adirondack chairs and tables outside and enjoy the scenery. The winery provides some board and card games and also live music. You can also bring your own snacks if there is not a food truck that strikes your fancy. The majority of grapes are imported from Cali and also some from the Finger Lakes. I recommend a bottle of Truth Serum to bring back home. It is my favorite at the winery.

Had the best afternoon celebrating my bachelorette here! The music was amazing, wine was delicious, and the service was so great. Donna is so friendly and keeps the vibes high! Thank you, Balderdash! Big perk is the food trucks outside!

Balderdash is hands down one of the best experiences I have had out in years. From the moment my siblings and I walked up we were greeted warmly, found a place to sit, and paired great wine with amazing views.
Anytime you find yourself in the area be sure to stop in. Donna was amazing and made us feel like family. Balderdash is a rare find genuinely making the world a better place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
