    About the Business

Started in upstate New York in 1980, our family opened our first pizza shop in the corner of our farmers market. Before you knew it we were remodeling and cooking our own recipes for everyone to enjoy. Being the youngest of 5 boys, Michael got his start at the early age of 14 and has been cooking ever since. In 1997 he decided he was ready for somewhere new. He moved to Colorado Springs and opened his own pizza shop, Back East Pizza and Subs, on Airport and Murray in Colorado Springs. Having made his pizza shop a huge success the next step was obvious, marrying his love Megan and having his beautiful daughter Abby and twins Reese and Cooper. Together, they furthered the Back East dining experience by opening the Back East Bar in Downtown Denver. We have created the perfect place for you to watch your favorite game and enjoy the incredible food and flavors that we have brought from home. We take pride in knowing our customers and what the want by serving only the best food with the fres…

Completely mixed review here because the following:
Bar + Drinks : 5 Stars **Great and consistent**
Table + Food : 1 Star **Not good**

I really like this place because the bartenders are friendly and pour great drinks. The drinks are cheap, great Monday beer deal and a great Tuesday well deal. I will keep coming back for these.

Table service is awful to the tune of you will spend at least 30 minutes waiting around for various reasons. On Fridays it's nearly impossible to have a reasonable lunch here. Some of the service is bizarre to the extent that if the order is wrong the staff asks you if you're sure. (Who would be mistaken about an order being wrong?!)

Food is very mediocre. Nachos were the worst I've ever had. Wings were just ok, but you can get better wings many places downtown.

Horrible place, I was just killing some time and having a few beers while my RV was getting fixed and one of the workers harassed me for no reason. She started cussing and clapping her hands at me. VERY unprofessional! I will not being going back here and I recommend you stay away from this unprofessional establishment.

I still can't believe how I was treated by this place. In all my years on this earth, I have NEVER been treated this way. I posted the photo of the waitress berating my friend from Mexico. She told him he needs "to go back".

It was a Sunday and we wanted to catch the games (NFL SUNDAY Football) before heading to the airport and have a bite to eat while doing so. II searched places nearby and this one seems too fit the bill. Well, one of those cases of great on paper.

Place itself is spacious with a lot of TVs and a long bar which is pretty cool but the nonexistent service kills it all. One bartender was playing on his phone and not paying attention at all at the bar (or anything aside from his phone to be honest). The other one was too busy flirting/ chatting up with some girls to bother and notice there were more people waiting for service. By all means, go ahead and chat away just please take my order at some point? Thank you!

Turns out we had 1 drink each, shared an order of waffle fries and left since they didn't seem interested.. no wonder place was not busy at all!

Stopped in here while looking for something non-chain and "local" and not-stuffy for a "snack". I expected to hate the place, honestly.

So, service wasn't great. We were slow to be helped and when I asked for a beer/drink menu the waitress gave me the beer list jotted down on a piece of paper. Maybe she was new and had trouble remembering the list, I don't know, but in general I feel if you offer craft beers you should have an actual menu that describes the beers - sometimes you just don't know!

We ordered some wings - we ALWAYS order wings "well done" to hopefully avoid the fatty, rubbery wing. These were actually pretty good. Decent size, the parm garlic sauce was good and I love that they came with lots of celery AND carrots! We also had side of waffle fries which were tasty.

There was a band playing that was surprisingly not annoying.

      Parm garlic wings. Pretty good!

Stopped in this NYE weekend before the Broncos/Chargers game. We arrived around 11am - it was not busy at all. Found a spot at the bar. It slowly began to get a bit more crowded.

Our bartender was friendly and helpful. Good customer service. We stayed for about two more hours. Had their wings, nachos and soft pretzel. All were delicious! Their beer options seemed a bit slim to me.

Overall, great atmosphere with lots of TVs and a few arcade games. Great location right off of 16th street.

Ugh. The place looks over the 16th St Mall where you get to watch the homeless pick through the trash for food or sleep in a drugged state in one of the chairs. Great beer selection though. Food was meh, had a flatbread Philly cheese steak which is really a pizza slathered with some tomato sauce, too much cheese and dried out meat. Men's bathroom had one urinal which was broken and the toilets were gross. Was sorry I had two beers at that point. Avoid.

Very chill sports bar. Location is perfect. Visited this spot a few times on the both times I was in Denver. Good liquor and beer selection. A good variety of food on the menu as well. I had the wings. I got buffalo and garlic Parmesan....the buffalo was good...the garlic parm not so much. Staff is always really nice. they have a million tv's so you can catch the game of your choice. I'll be back whenever I'm in Denver.

Saw the yelp reviews and was great. Tried the beef weck (which isn't on the menu by itself but u can get it w fries) and calamari. Both were great. The beef was good but didn't like the seeds on the bun. I'd get a regular French dip next time.
Great location on the mall. Will come back when it warms up.

Great place to hang out on the 16th street mall. Of course we were visiting from Seattle wearing hawks jersey, we couldn't find a place to watch the game and we stumbled on this place. Love the atmosphere and staff. It felt like a authentic bar with amazing people. Pool table and arcades are found here. The server was very attentive and helpful. Thank you!!!

Sorry but when a "sports bar" is "too busy" on bowl weekend when it's only 70% full, they don't deserve the moniker.

The Alabama game wasn't on. What? Ok. I asked for them to put it on and was told "I can't help you right now". 15 TVs on the same channel and they couldn't put one on the Iron Bowl. Fine.

I was then very disappointed that the bar had scattered single seats and the bartender wasn't asking people to sit without open seats so with 10 vacant seats there weren't two together anywhere.

So we took a table from the host. 15 minutes without so much as a greeting from a single server.

No thanks. Not again. Thumbs down.
