Incredible atmosphere. Impeccably well kept and clean pickle ball establishment. Forget about the classes, this is a dream location for various sporting events, especially pickle ball.
I commend the staff for being ahead of the curve and "serving" the community with what they truly want.
Also I went here as a kid and have many fond memories. Definitely no leftist propaganda or Marxism to be found. Highly recommend for all to enjoy the community of learning and socialization that JAMS has established itself as.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Joshua M.Grover Beach, CA03Sep 6, 2023
It's a wonderful school with a bunch of amazing people and teachers that care a lot about the school

I am a fellow student who goes to jams. Its only been the first semester and ive been bullied, threatened and more. I have known alot of these kids my entire life, and yes they have bullied me in the past but has it gotten worse? yes. coming from my friends experience the school is great, but the food sucks. somedays its good but alot of the time its like you just bought plastic food from the 99 cent store and microwaved it. But yes all of that might not sound bad but let me get started on the staff and teachers. Some of the teachers curse, Some call kids names, (such as peasents, retards, assholes, smart asses, etc.) I have not been a victim of the name calling but my friends and fellow classmates have. My friend used to get bullied (or "teased") and sometime still does by one of her teachers. I will not be saying who but it got bad where her mom had to step in. The teacher is incredibly rude and I dont know how she still has a job here. There is another teacher who is rasict, but i will not be getting into that. Alot of staff stand by whenever bullying is going on but step in whenever its not? I dont get that, Not at all. Im not going to say much because overall the students, teachers and food its a pretty good school. My over all experience was pretty bad.

Very disappointing. Teachers were mediocre. Curriculum was a combination of left wing statist propaganda and common core mediocrity. No serious study of literature or history. Instead of actual literature, the kids are forced to read propaganda about how great immigration is. The English class doesn't teach English, just propaganda about diversity. The history class doesn't teach history, just propaganda about diversity. And the math class has some Marxist thing where each table of kids get a group grade.
Many kids who still can't read or write. Due to misguided egalitarian philosophy, there's no honors class so your kid can and will end up sitting next to a student who probably should have been placed in a remedial program.
Oh and did I mention they put your kid at a table with other random kids and receive a "group grade". Marxism at it's finest.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Jeff L W.Santa Monica, CA19827Feb 1, 2019
Overall a great school. Beware, though, of Margie Matthews. Incredibly moody. Disorganized. Lazy. Blames students for all of her issues (e.g., homework she lost must not have been turned in). Locked my son out of her class for being 5 minutes late even though she knows he has abandonment issues. Refused to open the door even after he pounded on it for several minutes. If you see her name on your child's teacher roster, apply for a transfer immediately.

JAMS is a wonderful middle school! The teachers are fantastic; they challenge and support the students both. They are friendly and accessible, as is the principal. The language immersion program, the music program, and the science magnet program enrich the kids' education immeasurably. The community service project in 8th grade, the many field trips, the family camping trips to Morro Bay, and Joshua Tree and even international travel to Japan, help them connect to each other and the world beyond the classroom.

Went there for a year and a half and never really liked it. There's a couple nice teachers. That's why I bumped it up to 2 stars. The campus is average. What I didn't like is the swimming part of P.E. and had to walk all the way to the SMC pool to use it.

Socially, it's a happy place, the kids seem to make friends and it's a positive environment.
Academically, it's a leftist, egalitarian, groupthink environment: the kids are bombarded with liberal propaganda, exams are taken in "groups" so grades are "collective", and there is severe grade inflation to prevent kids from receiving well-deserved low grades.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1
