Good for KFC. There's so many options for Korean Food around Temescal Oakland that it gets overwhelming to chose one. We wanted a quick bite that was reasonably priced on the way home from Cal Day at UC Berkeley.
Small restaurant with trendy murals. Azit was reasonably priced. I didn't realize that they didn't really offer Korean bbq plates with the assorted banchan but we were happy with what we ordered. The medium order of fried chicken wings were more than enough for the 3 of us. We wanted a dry crust instead of saucy so the server told us to get plain and green onion flavored. Nice crunchy crust and big pieces. We also got a bowl of spicy pork kimchi fried rice topped with an egg that we shared. A bit spicy but we liked it.
We got there on a Saturday afternoon at 5:15 right after they opened. We were the only table dining in our whole stay there. There were a few DoorDash pickups while we were there. My only complaint was it smelled like a wet bathroom when we walked in. Kinda like how it smells when a dirty tile floor is mopped with bleached water that hasn't quite dried yet so some of the dirt and cleaner is still in the air. The bathroom sink has a weird design where there is no drain under the faucet and the water is supposed to trickle behind the faucet but a lot spills on the floor. The bathroom floor was still wet and waiting to dry and smelled like musty Clorox.
Place would be good for to go orders or during a late night after bar hopping place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2024
First time trying AZIT. I went on a Saturday night. There was no wait, but the restaurant was almost at full capacity.
My group and I ordered a few things, and they were quick to take our order. The food came out fairly quickly, considering how busy the restaurant was. The food was awesome!
Parking was challenging, but it's worth it if you can find a spot. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest. I'll be back again!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ralph D.Alameda, CA29559487Mar 3, 20241 check-in
Man we were suppose to go to Moo Bong Ri Korean restaurant but it was packed and it was an hour and half wait. Luckily AZIT was next door and it was also on my bucket list to try.
Azit overall rating: 4/5
Ambiance: 4/5 Chill and dark, perfect place to get drunk with amazing food.
Service: 5/5 very fast service, food came by really fast and no wait when we came in. Whenever we have a request they would come really quick and very nice about it.
Food overall rating: 4.5/5
1. Spicy Carbonara Rice Cake: 5/5
Price: $20.00
My girl thinks is very spicy but fuck that the flavor was on point. I love the cheese, the rice cake, ramen, requested to add pot stickers and made it even more filling and worth it. The sauce was so cheesy and spicy very mouth watering and will recommend this dish and will come back here again just to get it. Only note add more bacon.
2. Kimchi Udon 4/5
Price: $14.00
My friend's dish got to try a little I think it's alright. It's good on flavor they really added a lot of fishcake in this soup. My friend said the soup is on point. She quoted,"Koreans know how to make their soup." Portion was really big, very shareable and worth the price.
3. Boneless chicken with rice cake 3/5
Price: $16.00
It was alright. Flavor is good nothing too special. We got the garlic and hot spicy. Need to add more rice cake on it.
4. Jokbal ( Braised pigs trotters) 5/5
Price: $48
When she got this I was shocked $48!!! And it took hella long. They had to catch the pig in the wild or something. But god damn, this was the star of show tonight. My first time trying this and that first bite with the lettuce wrap and added some kimchi and sauce. Wow! man the amount of juicy fat and flavor, so good. Worth the wait and worth the price. Need to add more side tho. But if you are drinking this is the perfect meal to eat with some soju or beer.
In the end we forsure coming back here to get drunk. The vibe is there and can't wait to try the other speciality.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 23, 2024
Wanted to try some new spots after a long day and I'm so glad I ended up here. The flavors were so new and soooo good, the spicy carbonara tteokbokki was soft and chewy with a strong savory and cheesy taste. I was used to regular tteokbokki and this was a really nice surprise. Many Korean places in Oakland and Berkeley have been lacking on their corn cheese game but this place did not disappoint, it was sweet and cheesy enough for the infamous cheese pulls. Their onion chicken was the cherry on top for me. Super pretty super crispy and super flavorful. I wanted to keep eating but I had no room left. Had to save some for home and they loved the flavors too. Def the new late night food spot.

Came here late at night, around 10pm on a Tuesday. We found it on Yelp and thought the spot is relatively new. There was only two other parties when we came in; however, when we left around 11:30, the place was packed and there was even a waitlist! Generally seemed to be couples and groups of friends although a group of students also came in with their laptops to study lol. We just parked outside on the street.
The vibe is dark purple and red colors with Kdramas playing in the background. The service was good. We waited around 15 minutes for our food.
We got a medium order of wings which can be divided into two flavors.
Spicy wings: Not very spicy by my standards but there's a kick that works well with the savory flavor. I'd recommend getting one fry rub and one saucy wing to balance each other out. This went along nicely with the cream cheese onion wings.
Cream cheese onion wings: This is literally a liquidy cream cheese sauce with sliced onions on top. Some of the onion pieces were cooked through, while others were still spicy. Overall it was a flavor that wasn't what we expected, but it worked.
Tteokbokki with dumplings and cheese: Pretty tasty! Wish the sauce was thicker so it can stick to the rice cakes more. I do NOT recommend getting the dumplings. I expected to have a couple of crispy fried mandu on top of the dish, but it's actually 3 soggy, tiny, broken, boiled dumplings hidden underneath the rest of the rice cakes. We actually called the server over because we couldn't find them at first. Then he said the chef put three in... At basically $1 per dumpling, this was not worth it.
We ended up with enough leftover food for 2.5 more meals. We ate it for lunch the next day. The size of the wings were larger than your average American wing, pretty normal for Korean wings.
All in all, it is a decent addition to several pochas in Oakland.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 21, 2023
Our server was very friendly and had a welcoming smile throughout our time there. We came around 10p and the restaurant had many open tables! As for the interior, the lighting in the restaurant was semi-dim but it had led lights that illuminated the inside.
Now to talk about the food:
10 piece Jumbo chicken wings: The wings came out hot and ready, I knew they were fresh out of the fry from how hot it was! We split the ten wings to try the garlic soy and the cream cheese and onion flavor. The garlic soy is a basic and you could really taste the garlic and soy sauce base with each crunch! The cream cheese and onion flavor was new to me and I really wanted to try it. It definitely did not disappoint! Topping the wings with the cheesy onion was the icing on top and it felt like a match made in heaven.
Spicy Seafood soup: BIG big serving! I would recommend sharing this with 3/4 people. It came in a huge metal bowl that has a heater underneath so that it can stay hot and steam up. I loved that they were so generous with the seafood aspect of the soup! There was big mix of clam, oyster, pork belly, baby octopus, and shrimp!
Bulgogi Kimchi Pancake: If you are a cheese lover, you're going to drool over this. The "pancake" came on a hot skillet and was warm throughout our meal. Though there was a good portion of bulgogi meat, I felt like the kimchi and the bulgogi juices were overpowered by the cheese. But if cheese is your thing, I would definitely recommend.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 19, 2023
Korean food that is open until 2 AM? Yes please!! Azit is honestly one of the best places to go late night if you're seeking some munchies.
We came and ordered the rose tteokbokki, the garlic bossam, and the Korean fried chicken which were all superb! The rose tteokbokki and Korean fried chicken was delicious, but I've had better.
However, the garlic bossam was the real standout and will be my go-to from now on. Soft and tender pork with a garlic spread(?) on top eaten with vegetables is honestly, in my opinion, the perfect late-night meal.
I loved how after eating the bossam, I still felt light and was ready to continue my night. The pork in combination with the perilla leaf, kimchi, jalapeños, and garlic was absolutely incredible. I seriously would go back just for this alone.
The service was great, and the atmosphere was interesting as well. I really the old school rap in the background!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2023
4 stars for the food, 3 for ambiance. Let me start by saying that the food was really good!
We shared the corn cheese and both had the half order of the boneless chicken, soy and sweet and tangy and it was really yummy. It's actually a pretty big order and we probably could have shared the chicken as well!
The staff was friendly.
It was just super hot in there although they just opened and also you could see a standing layer of kitchen smoke throughout which makes you smell after because it's gets into your hair and clothes so, not sure if their exhaust fans just weren't working.
But I would definitely order carry out again from here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
