*UPDATE to my 5/17/23 Post* I was SO bothered by the funky smell of the car we rented (there's only so long that one can tolerate someone else's funky smell) and the seat stains were just too much to ignore, so I used a little car upholstery cleaner and elbow grease and cleaned the seats - which also freshened the smell of the interior of the car. *I added an 'After' pic of the seat - looks and smells so much better!!

It's gotta be for the quality of the cars rented, because the guy that helped us was very pleasant, there's not much to the office, but car rental offices aren't really known to be fancy anyways.
We made a reservation for a Toyota Rav 4 and the car was ready when we arrived - however, it is the funkiest car - the seats are funky stained, the condition of the exterior was pretty funky too - splattered bug remnants on the front, scrapes and scratches all around, a dent in back, and the car runs kinda rough. Hence, that's how a car rental place gets a two star rating.
I just have to point out that any time you rent a car, you're also going to be getting any funk that previous renters have left in the car. So I'm not that surprised when cars that we rent are funky - I almost expect it anymore.
The best thing is to bring towels to sit on and a pleasant air freshener. The car we rented is a 2022 and has 18K miles so I'm pretty sure we'll reach out destination - it just won't be the smoothest or quietest ride.Sep 15, 2015Previous reviewI don't understand why this location only has a two star rating. We have rented a car from here a few times and they've always been the best as far as customer service and the quality of the cars that we rented. The first time I came here the girl that helped us was so friendly. She actually suggested that I modify my reservation to a week rental rather than 4 days because it was going to be a better deal for us. Then the car that we rented was brand new and was so clean. The last couple of cars that we rented from Enterprise seems like older cars with lots of miles and they smelled funny inside. I actually had to take a car back to enterprise because we couldn't we couldn't take the smell that was inside the car. It was horrible!
I have been very pleased with the cars we have rented from this Avis location. And like I said, it's going to be tough to find customer service like this anywhere else. - Fide B.Anaheim, CA1176Nov 23, 2022
Rente un auto el cual lo recogí un día después y me querían hacerme una penalización por $175 dólares más; no contentos con eso, me cobraron 63 dólares por agregar un conductor extra, me tomaron de mi tarjeta 250 dólares más como depósito en caso de alguna "eventualidad " y no conforme de que entregue el auto lavado y aspirado; y que él que atiende el negocio me prometió un 25% de descuento; hoy me penalizaron con 45 dólares más.
Lo que online juraban sería una deal de 708 dólares, se convirtió en más de 800 dólares.

This was a corporate rental so the procedure is a little different than a normal rental. Went in showed them my credentials and they upgraded my car to something a little nicer than I was expecting. Returning the vehicle tomorrow morning so if there's any problem and I'll come back and edit my review.

If I could leave a zero, I would. I had a reservation early in the morning to pick up a car before rushing to work. I was given a car that reeked of cigarette smoke, and requested a change. I was told this was their last car and being that I needed to get to work, I told them I was concerned about being charged for the cigarette smell. The guy told me that he would sign off on my receipt and it would not be held responsible.
Of course a week later after returning the car, we were charged $500 for the smell! I contacted the manager and was told they would take care of it. A week goes by and nothing. I decided to go see her in person, and was greeted by the same guy who originally signed off on the smell. I asked to speak to the manager, and he claimed to be the manager. I saw the business card and it had a female name on it, and questioned him about it, which he said well that's his wife and basically since she's the manager, so is he. I finally got in touch with the actual manager and again she promised to take care of it.
Another couple weeks go by and nothing, so we call Avis corporate and forwarded them all our signed off receipts regarding the smell. They concluded they would "help" as a "courtesy" by refunding half! Wow! We had to file a claim on our credit card which finally resulted after months with them having to refund all of it back. I prepaid for a 4Runner or something close to it a couple days before my rental date. I work at a hospital and couldn't make it early to pick up my car, I got there at 4:40pm, 20 minutes before they close. Unfortunately I lost my DL but have pictures on my phone. This sales associate Matt gets on the phone and calls the owner. Owner says it's ok if I have my passport on me. I live half a mile from this car rental and asked if I could drive home really fast to get it, he says no, he can't because he doesn't get paid over time and cannot wait for me, by the time I get back "he will be gone" are his exact words. I cannot believe this moron has the nerve to tell me that he doesn't get paid over time pay and won't wait for me. This is how this place treats their customers. I couldn't believe this shit. I prepaid a few days in advance. I asked what my options were and he just said "sorry," I'm not getting paid overtime to help you so I can't stay. I couldn't believe my ears. I will never rent again from this place. If you want to get treated like shit, please, come here, they specialize in doing that. Oh also I was told by Matt that Dale is the owner, I'm speaking to Dale right now and he says he's not the owner, he's only the manager. So not only do they treat their customers like shit, they lie to you. This poor guy (another customer) had a reservation that's been paid for also and they told him sorry we sold your rental to someone else. This idiot Matt is a liar, and clearly is a reflection on this company.

Charges extra on there mistake. No one picks up the phone. Very rude!
Try's to charge $40.00 gas without looking at gage or pulling file out!

Do not rent your car here.
The people that work here (manager) feel that what customer service tells you does not represent what he says.
He charged for a extra day.
Customer service said as long as I can I drop it off before 12 am I am good and he said no.
Showed him the call and everything and he said that's customer services that's not me. "I can't go back in time"
Giving me some existential crap.

I just wanted to add another positive review so people wouldn't be so scared off. Rented a car for a week via Costco Travel and had no hiccups with it.
Drove up to NorCal with the car, and brought my own Fastrak. We were told to call Fastrak to let them know to charge the Fastrak rather than sending the bill to Avis, and from what I can tell, it worked out! I was grateful for that suggestion and for having less hassle in having to pay excess fees for toll road.
The car itself was exactly what we needed. It was clean and nice on the inside. There was a bit of writing on the windshield, but it didn't really bother us much.
There was an error in the oil change alert. We called Avis while we were on our trip and they let us know that they were aware of when the next oil change would be, and it was just the car's alert going off. They gave us tips on how to turn off the beeping.

This location customer service is truly horrible. THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!!
We went in to pick up a pre-paid rental. I just ordered a new license and had the valid interim paper provided by the CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES I also called the customer service line and reviewed their policies from the official
Avis website which states:
Issued by US or Canada, or by another country that meets Avis requirements.
-Must be valid entire rental period.
-Cannot be suspended, expired, revoked, canceled, or surrendered.
* Temporary licenses are acceptable if they meet the criteria above.
When we arrived to pick up the rental I proceeded to present my VALID interim license, passport and credit card to the rental agent. Instantly I was met with horrible customer service. The rental agent Dao proceeded to tell me that Avis doesn't take interim drivers license. I proceeded to tell him how I spoke with several agents to ensure this would not be an issue and also showed him on the companies policy on the Avis website which states the criteria for temporary drivers license. Dao proceed to say " well we don't, and we can go back and forth but things are not going to change " he refused to accept my Valid paperwork and double charged us since my Bf had to rent with his debit card and drivers license. I have personally worked for several other rental agencies and stated that this is unusual for you not to accept official documents from the state of California . Dao proceeds to say "well that's not here so we can't" Dao customer service was very unprofessional and honestly the worst I have received from any car rental agencies. I do not recommend this location to anyone.
UPDATE *** it has now been almost two weeks since we have experienced this issue. I called to formally complain and talk to the manager because we are still charged almost $700 for a rental that should not be even half of that. I was informed that Dao was the manager even though during our first convo he said he was just trained. BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS !!!!!!! We are still trying to get our money back and now have been advised to call billing yet again !!! DO NOT RENT FROM HERE , YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER !!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
