Don't use this location! They steal your items from your rental if you forget anything. The people working the lot were rude, and aggressive and rushed us from the car. We were so overwhelmed by their conduct and aggressive behavior as we pulled up the car we missed our keys sitting in the center console. Once we were headed back to SA Texas we realized what their behavior caused. We called Avis and they laughed and said good luck they usually throw those things in the trash and don't check them in. They said the only thing they report to the lost and found is electronic devices that can be remotely tracked... What a Ghetto operation... We filed a lost item report but got extremely limited help from the Customer service rep and no one can contact the location or a manager. AVIS has gone downhill. We have used them since the 70's and now they are just a one-and-done horribly managed business. So sad...

The rental pick up went pretty smoothly.
I made the reservation via Costco about a month ago. We walked in a little before 12, had to wait a few minutes till 12 for the system to let us process at the right rates, not a problem.
The car was waiting for us in the lot and was clean.
The only downside was that the Costco deal includes a free upgrade but we were told that they didn't have inventory at that location.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A D.Tucson, AZ019Nov 22, 2020
Do not use this location. When I arrived to pick up my rental they had closed early and no one was in the office. When I called Avis, they instructed me to take an Uber to the airport location but it would cost double the price. What I learned is that many Avis locations are privately owned and are not required to follow the corporate standard Avis hours and pricing. My recommendation is to only use the airport location, which is corporate owned and you are guaranteed to receive the quoted rate. They also have better hours and a larger selection of rentals.

This is a terrific Mom & Pop shop location. I've been using this location for decades. This family run location has hard working people who care. They've helped me so many times with choosing rentals to get what I need at a great price. When my car had a safety recall, they processed the paperwork every 2 weeks for 5 months. When I need 24 hour assist, I go to the airport. Otherwise this is my FAVORITE place! Love these guys. Be nice, be patient and they will roll out the red carpet for you.

The current owners are a hard working Ma & Pa style shop. If you need the flexibility of a 24 hour shop- the airport location is best and comes with heavy fees. If you can arrive at least 30 minutes before closing, this location is awesome. They have made suggestions that saved me hundreds of dollars. I love picking up my cars from them. The cars are clean and they do a better job of inspecting than the very busy airport.

I've always had good feelings about this branch. The staff is awesome if you need help. Although I seldom need them. That's because They do have an awesome website.
My reservation is always online and my car is always waiting in the lot. With an upgrade almost always!
Cars are always clean, no cigar smell and in good condition.
This trip is no different. Zip in and out! What a joy!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 9, 2009First to Review
An airport car rental location could be a mess, but this location has good solid cars, clean; and a great set of people, who are willing to smile, and greet you quickly, even hot the hottest days. I'm Avis Preferred, and upon arriving to the Rental Car Center from the airport, the Avis Preferred building outside of the main center was clean, and air conditioned. They were incredibly helpful, and (complementary) upgraded me to a convertible, after a brief conversation with the associate working inside.
Clean Location, Professional, and Great Customer Service; I would use Avis again, anytime at this location.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sacheen S.Albuquerque, NM63143Jan 1, 2017
Don't get rentals from AVIS. They doubled charged us for the car rental in November. $348.00 and $187.00
The lady said. She had a better deal for us. For the $187.00. Here's your new total.
We rented one car for the week. And we were charged double. That's fucked up.
AVIS isn't fixing the matter.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 24, 2010
We rented the car in Salt Lake City and returned it today in Albuquerque. It was a good, comfortable car and got great gas mileage. The return was quick and painless, the woman who checked the car in was friendly and we were able to board a shuttle to the airport almost immediately. Couldn't ask for more.

I have used these folks 2 years in a row, and while my first experience was very good, my most recent experience was not.
I was told at the counter that if I extended to a weekly rental the rate would be $119. I reconfirmed this via fb private message with the owner who did not dispute the rate I re-iterated in writing and confirmed the return date to capture this rate.
Upon returning the vehicle, I was told by the counter attendant (co-owners' sister in law who had been present when I initially rented the vehicle) that the rental rate was $205 and she would have the co-owner call me because she knew of the $119 weekly rate I was quoted.
The co-owner never called me even after multiple requests from me for a phone call , and issued some really unprofessional statements such as; "I'm not calling you a lier, but ...."
In the end, the revised rate was $165 - not a bad deal, but I do think if you are going to disclose/quote a rate, you stick to it no matter what.
I will not use this rental car company again nor will I refer them. Not in whole because of the rate issue, but because of the bad customer service I received from the co-owner.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zack W.Los Angeles, CA13204Jul 3, 2010
Living in the car 9 months out of the year.... almost 2 months with this Avis this time.
The usual tedious tasks at the counter. I made it smooth for them. They had the lease ready (because it's over a month). The car was average as if there's a choice... no free upgrade as usual.... after renting them for 5 years and 4-5 months a year at least, I still have no special status. That's why I don't have loyalty to Avis.
This was corporate rate. When I returned the car a few hours passed the designated returned time, Avis imposed a $50 late fee in additional to an extra day. This is unheard of for corporate rate since we demand flexibility... either return a few days earlier or late. I've done it often resulted in no penalty with various rental car, including Avis elsewhere
So travelers beware, as Avis keeps rolling past 2010, it is imposing various new charges as I have learned each time (where is Obama on this? It should be regulated)... if you don't care much about money, enjoy the ride. If it's for personal rental, be generous. Expect to pay more than you've bargained for. You can't read all the fine print... trust me.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
