Avenues Pet Clinic

After a horrific experience at another local vet my friend recommended Avenues Pet Clinic and we have been very pleased. Wait times can be long but it is worth it to know our kitties are safe and treated with care.

Wonderfully kind and accommodating staff. They truly care about my cat. Highly recommend, make a reservation early as they can be busy. The good thing is though if a spot opens up earlier they will contact you and let you know.

Worst Vet I have ever taken a dog to in 25 years. The Dr came in the room 75 minutes after I got there with other people booked at the same time she booked today after I waited 11 days to get in there and called everyday for a cancellation. She looked at my dog for what seemed like 4 minutes then sent the tech in to tell me the amount they wanted to do blood work and urine samples which was insane over $320.00 before they would do anything to help her and refused to help with her separation anxiety until I paid the $320.00. I left there paying $50 and was in the same exact problem and no help at all. Don't waste your money! She's horrible!!!

They are so hard to get ahold of. I have to get my dogs insulin refilled every month, and each month it is a struggle to get someone to answer the phone or return voicemails. When I finally do get ahold of someone they usually get confused on what I am needed, and take days to call me back or get the refill ready, and are also usually confused on what syringes to give me as well. I've been dealing with this for years because they are close to my house but have recently starting making the drive to Murray to a different vet because it's become worse and worse.

Brought my cat here last year because she had somewhat bad breath and swollen lips. I expected a reasonable degree of care, but the vet barely looked at her, and she and the staff were really unfriendly with an obviously scared cat.

They didn't even really look at her teeth or mouth, just saying they don't know what was causing it. I insisted that something need be done to address it, and they shrugged me off until saying "oh, we have a spray that'll make her breath not so bad."

Staff basically used the opportunity to keep railing on how they could do an expensive cleaning, but couldn't justify it because they didn't even do an oral exam (which should've been done -- that was the point of the appointment). I asked several times if she needed it, and they didn't give me a straight answer.

Flash forward to now, and the last week she has had breath that smells like a dead rat. I'm worried she's going to lose teeth. I should've trusted the reviews that were already on here. Just not a trustworthy vet.

Dr. Ponce and her excellent staff have been very responsive, communicative, helpful, and affordable! Two of my dogs have had all their care at Aves Pet Clinic and every visit has been great. I have truly appreciated their professionalism and compassion.

If you really love your pets--DON"T bring them here! Aside from mediocre care of my pet, the prices for their 'care' are horrendous! Highway robbery!! My cat deserves better than this scam of a vet. clinic!

We will not be bringing our animals here again. I brought my cat here as a new client because of the good reviews. She had been acting odd for a few days, and we decided to take her to the vet. I told the vet tech what was going on, and they told me they were going to keep her there for observation until the afternoon. They told me this was the case for all of their clients right now. You are required to be there at 8am, drop off your pet, and they will keep them until the afternoon. When I asked why, they told me it is because of the number of appointments they have, which makes no sense to me. At around 4pm, I still had not heard anything so I called and the doctor told me there was nothing they could find so they would run some blood tests what would cost $200. I was about to head into a work meeting and did not have time to ask questions, so I agreed because I trusted them (a mistake). My boyfriend picked her up and when he did, he asked what they were running the blood tests for. The tech did not give him an answer- just took his money and handed over our cat. We brought her on a Friday, and they told him they would have the blood test results the next day. Again, around 5pm, they still had not called me like they said they would so I called them and they told me the doctor was busy and would call us back. An hour later she finally called to tell me nothing was wrong and the tests were normal, and they would have the second half of the test results back Sunday or Monday. AGAIN, on BOTH days, I STILL had not heard from them at 5 in the afternoon and called to get my results. Both times the doctor was once again too busy to answer the phone, and called back around an hour later. (I am seeing that a lot of people have had this experience of the clinic being too busy and having to wait a very long time to be seen. And those reviews go back years. How about maybe hiring more staff or another doctor instead of making people wait hours to be seen?) This brings us to about 10 minutes before they close, which to me shows that she had no intention of calling us back with the results as she had stated she would. In my opinion, incredibly unprofessional. The results showed nothing, and all she told me was to buy an infuser for pets to help with her anxiety, and hung up the phone. Then, that night, my boyfriend was taking off our cat's collar which we rarely do, and he found a small rash. The doctor never even mentioned this. I am now doubting she examined her at all because you would think if they were doing their job and doing a thorough exam, they would have seen this rash and pointed it out to us. I have never had such a lazy, unprofessional experience with a vet. I will never bring my pets here and would not recommend anyone else brings their animals here.

Also, in order to wait in their lobby you have to show proof of having a COVID vaccination and you need to wear a mask. I agree with this, but I know others would be up in arms about it.

I have been taking my dogs here for years. Dr. Ponce is wonderful and kind and never tries to over diagnose or make us pay more than is necessary.

Wonderful care for all pets. Sometimes emergencies come in that take precedence over everything. You can always reschedule. Sometimes a pet takes more time than expected based on what the owner said. You would expect the same time and care for your pets. Dr Ponce charges reasonable rates as compared to The Valley. If you don't like it try someone else. She always recommends the least expensive treatment first and then if it doesn't help she goes from there. She also has vet specialists she can consult with. Always ask questions about care and cost. I always recommend Avenues pet clinic.
