Small, disorganized, unfriendly staff. I wasn't able to find the product I was looking for and the gift cards do not work at any Aveda location; they are set for this store.
When I went inside, I was waiting at the front desk for 5 minutes while she was outside petting a dog and talking to people outside.
Avoid this place at all costs! Make the drive somewhere else for Aveda productsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael C.San Francisco, CA14018228Jul 20, 2008
I went here two or so years ago. Five minutes before closing. I had a list of stuff I needed to get someone. I walked in, as the door was not locked; since, after all, it was five minutes before closing.
"We're closed."
"Um, I know what I want."
"We're closed."
"I know exactly what I want, so I'll just be a second. I see the register is still open. Can I just grab this and pas you? I have cash or credit."
[Scowls at me.] "Come back tomorrow."
"Oh, don't worry: I'll never be back."
And, well, I haven't been back.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Amy B.Los Angeles, CA274138111Apr 1, 2010
After my terrible experience at the Aveda Institute, I decided to find an Aveda salon nearby and have my hair cut by a professional. This location was incredibly convenient, so I called and booked an appointment asap.
My hair has never looked better. I think that is enough of an endorsement. Like other Aveda salons, you get the fun bells and whistles of tea and massages, but these stylists have managed to turn my limp hair into something much more fun. They took the time to teach me how to blow out my hair and what vitamins to take to help promote growth. I'll be going back very soon when I start looking shaggy.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Justin W.Los Angeles, CA0131Jul 11, 2010
Are you kidding me, Kim? Are you even licensed to cut hair?
This was the worst and smallest Aveda I have ever been to. Also, after the most unprofessional haircut of my life, the cashier said, "That'll be $70..." I stood there saying, "For a haircut?!?!? Unbelievable."
DON'T GO! NOT WORTH THE TIME, MONEY, OR EFFORT.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - C F.Los Angeles, CA35116203Oct 23, 2013
This store is always CLOSED. I do not know if they are still in the business. I passed by here a few times when walking around Montana and their doors are locked.
You may have to call the store and have an appointment just not to waste your time going here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Pippa G.Santa Monica, CA263Aug 31, 2009
Unprofessional, hole in the wall, unpleasant, overpriced, inconsiderate.
From booking appointment (staff seems to rarely answer the phone during open hours on weekends, and receptionist was very rude, unhelpful and had side conversations while I was on the phone) to arriving at the place itself (tiny beyond belief, it's cramped, dingy, dark and gross inside) where I was offered no water or anything despite being the hottest day of the year and then inside to have a waxing treatment the whole experience was awful and nerve-wracking. They were pushy and made inappropriate casual comments about my hair. The last things you want when going to the salon! I am a loyal Aveda user but these employees did NOT represent the brand in a positive way. They were just plain trashy and I would discourage anyone from ever giving them business.
FOLLOW UP: I'm a loyal Aveda product user and the salon selling Aveda down the street was closed, so against my better judgment I walked into this salon just for my shampoo. There was one gentleman who I didn't recognize working so I thought "Ok this will be a better experience" WRONG - the must have institutionalized rudeness there! They only had the XL Professional Salon size of the product I wanted, i asked if he had reg size. "It only comes in that size." he replied flatly. "No no i just want the regular consumer size, i have the matching conditioner" I replied "NO they don't make it - unless you drive all the way to the corporate office very far away!" he aggressively scoffed in my face. I couldn't believe it. I've bought this shampoo for years. They sell it at every salon I've been to in the regular size. "Well they have it a block away in the window for sale, and I will certainly go purchase it there tomorrow." He just stared at me and said nothing. He was so rude and confrontational I left the store shaking.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Meggy Megs A.Los Angeles, CA175610May 18, 2011
I went in today to buy shampoo. the girl who allowed me to purchase the shampoo was rude and demeaning, offering snide remarks when I asked why the shampoo I was looking for wasn't available in a smaller size. When I asked for conditioner, she just muttered that they were out and may get it back in Friday. No offer to order it for me, no apology. I almost walked out without buying the shampoo, but didn't want to have to make another trip elsewhere. I will not go back to this location.

This was the worst aveda experience I've ever had. While the stylist was nice, she didn't give me what I would consider a professional consultation and I have been going to Aveda for over 5 years, so I'm used to a variety of consultations. I would consider the actual haircut mediocre for SuperCuts, but the $70 price tag was outrageous for a 30 minute haircut. I've been okay with paying upwards of $60 for Aveda haircuts because of their amazing service and complimentary clean ups, but this was atrocious. When I was shocked by the $70, the guy at the front was just like, so what, and threw the price chart in my face. DO NOT GO HERE. DO NOT GO HERE. This Aveda Salon does not do the Aveda name justice.

So I can't comment on their quality of hair styling or coloring but I can comment on the rudeness of the woman working at the front desk. This salon has a lot of trinkets, birds, etc. in the salon (very strange). So I go in and am looking around. They have a dog in there up for adoption and I absolutely love dogs. I go over to say hello to the dog and am petting him. The woman is on the phone and keeps pulling at the dogs leash, half choking it. She gives me the most dirty look basically saying to get out.
This happened quite a few months ago so maybe they have gotten someone new by now. I can only comment about my horrible experience. My mom was with me at the time and could not believe it either.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cathy L.Santa Monica, CA750181Aug 2, 2014
I know this store is closed, but I wanted to let people know that the owner, Joey Dunne, is an incredibly dishonest person, whom I am taking to small claims court. I feel that people should know that. He would tell me to come in for my products, the store would be closed, I would call and leave a message, and I never would get a return call. This happened three times. And then, he told me that his son sold the products that he'd put aside for me. (Hmmm). I had a credit there, which I, therefore, could never use, and he has never returned my calls or responded to a certified return receipt letter.
