Came here for my morning espresso drink while on vacation. Coffee was delicious and piping hot. There were muffins, bagels, numerous flavored cream cheeses, and sticky buns calling my name. All the baked goods looked tempting but I only had coffee. Service was friendly but the barrister was a little slow.
I'll make this a regular stop on my next vacation in Sea Isle.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle C.Philadelphia, PA492222564420Aug 12, 2011First to Review
Considering the limited options for good coffee and bagels in Sea Isle, Avalon Coffee hits the nail on the head in every aspect. There are several coffee options to suit everyone, and the bagels are delicious and offered in all the usual flavors.
The young staff is pleasant and happy to answer questions.
There really isn't much more to be said other than this place serves all my basic breakfast needs at the shore.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Allison B.Coopersburg, PA13946434Aug 19, 2012
My husband spent the week we visited Sea Isle going to Red, White, and Brew to get his morning coffee. When we stopped at Avalon Coffee on the very last day he said, "I wish I had walked down further and gone here instead." He thought the coffee tasted very fresh and good -- and he's picky about his coffee.
For a quick breakfast on our way out of town we each had a toasted bagel with veggie cream cheese. The bagels were good and the service was quick. We later opted to split a sticky bun -- and that was very tasty as well. Very soft -- no chewy spots like sticky buns can sometimes have.
The stand out for me at Avalon Coffee was the staff. They were very pleasant and seemed genuinely friendly. There was a mix of ages represented and I think that made the store run well. Things were clean and there was always someone at the counter ready to help you.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kara L.Jersey City, NJ2017618Aug 17, 2014
Stopped in to place a to go order around 1:00 on Sunday afternoon. Waited a few minutes at the counter before anyone appeared. Ordered two taylor ham, egg & cheese w/ salt pepper ketchup on plain bagels, and an onion bagel with butter. The bagels were all on the flat side and way too bread-like, far below average and pretty disappointing.
Neither sandwich had the requested salt pepper or ketchup on it, and the taylor ham and egg had decent flavor but were dry and overcooked. The cheese was scarce-it took close examination to even determine whether it had any on it at all. The butter on the third bagel was even more scare, actually waiting until we make it home (in two hours) to put a normal amount of butter on before eating it...or I might just throw it out.
Two stars does seem a little harsh, but it's a bagel place failing at bagels. Don't recommend and won't be going back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jo D.Springfield, PA26738Aug 20, 2014

It took a while to find a good coffee or bagel place down the shore and Avalon Bagel has both. They used to have one of the best sandwiches that I have ever tasted which was the Thanksgiving meal on a Bagel, which was their fresh oven roasted turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce on a bagel. Sadly they do not carry it any longer. Nevertheless they still have great bagel sandwiches. Their turkey is really well seasoned and comes in thicker slices more like Thanksgiving turkey than deli turkey. Avalon Bagel also home makes a really good chicken salad. They also have a good variety of coffee as well
The bad about this place is that it is a little small. It looks very nice and clean but does not have the seating area or the space for a conventional coffees shop.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kate F.Philadelphia, PA16090101Aug 3, 2015Updated review
The last two times I have come here have been disappointing. The egg sandwiches are not as generously portioned as they used to be, and the bagels tasted stale. I probably won't be back.

My go-to is the egg and cheese sandwich on a toasted multigrain bagel. The eggs are made fresh, so they taste nothing like those disgusting, spongy, pre-made eggs I find at most quick service places.
I could go on and on about the staff as well. The last time I ate here, the man who I believe to be the owner was talking to the customers and parading around with freshly baked goods in his hands. - Mohammed K.Washington, DC6012534Jul 19, 2012
This place has the morning basics like coffee and pastries.
Nice staff young people, very willing to help.
Sea Isle City needs these small spots to step up cause it really lacks a real coffee place that makes all the different coffee types like the ones offered at StarbucksHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tad T.Lafayette Hill, PA0181Aug 18, 2014
You would think that a place with the word coffee in its name would at least be able to figure out how to make a decent cup. Not here. Welcome to Avalon Coffee.
In a somewhat empty shop, the latte I ordered took a good 15 minutes to prepare leading me to believe it was going to be the finest coffee drink I've ever had in my life. Not the case. The milk was barely warmed and the coffee was overly burnt. Clearly they need to put someone on the espresso machine who has a clue as to what they're doing.
But wait! There's more! I asked them for a cup of of ice water and to my surprise they said it was $1.00 or for $2.00 I can have a bottle of water. Say what! Is business that bad, that you need to charge for tap water? Pathetic! I should have walked the extra block for some Wawa. Much cheaper and in this case, much better and they have a courtesy cup for tap water.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jamie T.Berlin, Germany67250240Jul 24, 2012
There aren't many coffee shops in Sea Isle, but this one is good! I got an iced mocha and enjoyed it :) The bagels are delicious and fresh as well. They also offer a variety of pastries and free wi-fi!
