We were in town visiting family, and we wanted to go somewhere for our anniversary dinner. This place was recommended to us with the warning that it was a little pricier. We figured why not, it's our anniversary, we'll spend a little more.
I think I was expecting something nicer. It's tucked away, and pretty basic with worn plastic tablecloth. This isn't to say that I'll only eat at fancy places, that's not true, but because of the warning that it was pricey, I guess I expected the decor to be a little more upscale.
Other Yelpers state that they got bread at the table. Nope, not us. We ordered brats and a schnitzel. My husband wanted to order a beer, but they said they had nothing on tap. Okay, a little odd. My brats were supposed to come with a side of potatoes, but our server informed us that they were all out of potatoes, and to pick a non-potato side.
Out of all potatoes?
For a German-Austrian restaurant, that did not leave a whole lot of other options for sides. I went with spaetzle. Our meals weren't bad, but they weren't anywhere near the best we'd had. Certainly wasn't worth the price in the end.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 19, 2015
Small restaurant with outdoor beer garden. Great service and large portions. All meals come with the daily soup. Today was a duck barley soup which was interesting. They also had a liver soup. The salad included potato salad. Unfortunately ran out of the homemade bread. There was a big party at lunch. The owner is Austrian-German and makes authentic meals. He was off today. The wienerscnitzel i got had black forest ham, swiss cheese and mushroom sauce. It comes with potatoes. It was excellent. Had been open 7 years. The owner has a simar restaurant in Austria that has been open 34 years. They have lots of bottled German beer. Was told it is the best German restaurant around. This place is definitely 4.5 stars. I will round up because I enjoyed it very much.
I stayed after the closing because it was pouring. Marcos, one of the chefs brought me some black forest cake that they get on dry ice from Germany. It was awesome! Next time I will try the homemade streudel. I saw a video of them making it. Will be back.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Richard H.Carmichael, CA3439003818Jan 14, 2017
Austrian-German Restaurant, Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL., A growling in my tummy, 2 cents on the food and some chatter. The food. My order of potato salad, (warm german style) was excellent. Pork Schnitzel, 2 large pieces fried and seasoned to perfection. For dessert apple strudel with whip cream. Lets not forget the meat dumpling soup, wonderful.
Now some chit chat... This eatery is like a oasis in a otherwise boring strip mall. NO television, real cloth napkins plus indoor and outdoor tables. The background music is german . This is a dining experience ...NOT just dine and dash....Service is great. Plenty of parking.
PLUS every 2nd Saturday, of the month through the entire year, dinner time, they offer a german buffet. Which I believe cost 25 bucks per person.
So stop in and give them a try.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 25, 2017
Second time this month we patronize this secret gem hidden in Palms plaza. It's kind a nice when chef and the owner greet you on the door. Friendly place with delicious food. Wiener schnitzel (veal) is to die for. Tonight special was a Hungarian Goulash with Spatzle. Every meal comes with the choice of soup. Tonight was a meat dumpling. Excellent. You cannot leave the Austrian German restaurant without having apple strudel for dessert. Highly recommended place from our side.

THE SCHNITZEL!!! Oh my, this meal will change your life. Also the potato pancakes with the sour cream and applesauce are so good they make you wanna slap your momma!! The German beer they have is light yet flavorful but the big 5 star was the service. Our waiters knowledge and descriptions of the dishes had is salivating as soon as he left the table.

Food is amazing and potato pancakes were great.
They also have a vegetarian menu - if you eliminate a few ingredients it could be vegan.
Very large portions so before you order make sure you will consume it or take it home.
Salad was awesome.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathy P.Cape Coral, FL4222Oct 14, 2017Updated review
Two months ago, we had a wonderful dinner here, great food, great service, owner greeted us at our table. Our waiter was quite funny. I wrote a good review on Yelp. We recommended this restaurant to our friends. 8 of us had dinner there on October 13, 2017 to celebrate an anniversary. There was only one appetizer available, no Wiener Schnitzel (how can they call themselves a German Restaurant), service was very, very slow, only two wait staff, spaeztle was cold, our checks were not correct; overall a very bad experience. The potato pancakes were very good.
We loved this restaurant. I'm so sad to see this happen.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 5, 2017Previous reviewFirst time at this restaurant. The service was fabulous, efficient and funny. Clive was very attentive. The owner, Helmut also came out to great us. We enjoyed our soup, appetizers and entrees. Nice portions. Will definitely be back and will bring our friends and family.

This used to be my go to German restaurant. For the last 2 years the food and service has been terrible. I had made a reservation and when I got there it was in a corner and there was a big table of people in front of it essentially making it too tight to sit at. The server did apologize but I was very disappointed. We sat outside and it was really cold and windy. The food was awful. They were out of almost everything even dessert! The server did give us a free beer but didn't make up for the bad experience. I have found a better German restaurant in Naples that I will go to now to celebrate my Anniversaries. Too bad because it used to be great going there.
