In town for business and I was looking for a new spot to eat that I don't get in AZ.
Walked in and was great and the hostess kindly walked me their menu and made recommendations. I'll say she was spot on with recommendations.
The number 5 and veggie spring rolls tasted great. They even sampled me the Veggie pancakes. What flavor!
I'll definitely be back next trip.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 19, 20241 check-in
We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was kind of packed, but it's because they have very limited seating because the font end is small. Everyone was nice and the service good.
Let's talk food... I had the Korean beef special with pot stickers and half rice and half JapChea. The beef was tasty, the pot stickers were tiny and tasted average, and the JapChea was a little dry for my taste. But with all that being said, it was still good. I threw some sauce on the JapChea and it solved the issue.
My girlfriend got the spicy tofu bowl and she was all about it and she was a fan of the JapChea.
The kimchi pancake was good when dipped in the spicy sauce that accompanied it. Otherwise it was really thick batter, which was a little cakey for my preference. Make sure you get extra sauce because the one serving of sauce is not enough for the portion size. Someone else who was dining in had to get a to-go box for their leftovers.
The beef gimbob was fine, it wasn't bad, and it wasn't the best. But I ordered the beef special, so maybe it was too much beef for that day.
The only downside was the cabbage kimchi that they served on the side which had no flavor. It tasted like raw cabbage. My girlfriend thought the same thing.
This is a 4 out of 5 and would come back to try other things on the menu. I would order takeout the next time around. This would hit the spot if you wanted a quick Korean fix in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 44312141653Jan 2, 2024
Uh lol, Korean food in Albuquerque. I appreciate that everything is cheap and the service workers are incredibly nice, but unfortunately this was not Korean food.
- Kimchi Pancake - After I ate their complimentary kimchi which was basically fresh napa cabbage soaked in this spicy sauce, I knew that this pancake would not be very authentic. Because the kimchi wasn't great, the pancake didn't have a lot of kimchi flavor. Also there wasn't enough kimchi or lettuce in the pancake, it was mostly just dough. I do think that the pancake was fried to perfection though and I did appreciate the sauce.
- Combo Special (BBQ Chicken & Beef) - Was not particularly impressed with the bowl. I thought both meats lacked flavor and were a bit tough to chew on. The japchae disintegrated in your mouth a little too easily and didn't have a lot of sesame oil flavor. The rice was good though!
Overall, would not come back to eat here because of the lack of flavor.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Miranda R.Rio Rancho, NM3264May 15, 2024
This place was fantastic! The service was amazing and the food was good. The older lady, I'm guessing the owner, brought out or 6mo a plate of his own food free of charge! They were so nice and very family friendly. I'll recommend to everyone.

Food is delicious! Comes with cucumber kimchi and cabbage kimchi on the side. Its a smaller spot so I would't take a large group. I just wish the food came in a bigger container. I got the combo and it took a little while to get to the rice and noodles without spilling everything. I usually just take it to go and put it on a plate when I get home!

Good food. Cute atmosphere. Friendly staff. Their establishment was still fairly busy at 7:30pm which is always a good sign. The Combo bowl with BBQ chicken and beef with glass noodles was delicious. We also ordered the Korean Beef bowl with Glass noodles and it was equally delicious. The Spicy Tofu Bowl should be renamed the FIRE Tofu Bowl! In comparison to the other 2 bowls we ordered I wanted to enjoy it but after 3 bites I was done. It was extremely spicy and killed all of my taste buds. There was no option to adjust the heat level so I'm guessing the tofu is marinated in a firey bowl of mixed spice from hell.
Next time I will stay away from anything marked as "Spicy".Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 1 - Sep 11, 2023
A hole in the wall family owned Korean restaurant located in a strip mall that serves Korean rice bowls off of a flat top.
Across the American you'll see these types of establishments everywhere, but in Albuquerque they come rare and few.
The menu itself is standard for this type of establishment. The bugogli's, pancakes, japchae, korean ramen, tofu, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary.
But sometimes that's what we need in our life. A staple korean restuaunt in our life that doesn't break the wallet and is quick.
With appropriate pricing and solid food, I can see myself coming by everyday if I lived closer.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jenny C.Albuquerque, NM172827Feb 17, 2024
Their kimchi pancakes are my FAV. Chewy and perfectly crispy and FLAVORFUL! I wish they made tuna mayo kimbap. Their tuna kimbap is slightly dry for my liking. Other than that, I love the convenience of getting a quick kimchi fix from Asian Pear!

This is a tasty little storefront that does a rocking' business of churning out quick, delicious, mainly Korean food that is very true to what can be found Seoul, but made for an American market.
A large menu is printed on the wall next to the counter cashier and has a small but tasty selection for Korean food. They have a take out service, and small counter, and a few tables that stay filled. As soon as you are done, they swiftly swoop in, clean it, and it's ready again. The tables are full and we'll turned over because the food is that good!
Our Korean vegetable pancake was full of flavor, crispy and even the next day, microwaved were just as tasty!
My table mates polished off their combo plates and said it was some of the best Korean food they have tasted in ABQ! My rice bowl with chicken was full of flavor, tender chicken, tasty sauce, and fluffy rice.
My only complaint, there's not enough space for more
folks to have a seat, have some tasty grub and people watch. Wishing them continued success and hope you will be able to expand! Do yourself a favor, get some Korean flavor!Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1
