The food is fabulous. The service is a little odd. We came on a Thursday night. The hostess was the waitress and bar person
There was a special for a cheese board and a house bottle of wine for 25$. Awesome
Definitely definitely coming back. Who knew Westminster has some yummy class!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - East Coast Bite B.Mount Airy, MD02363Sep 6, 2017
The staff is super knowledgable and accommodating. I also like the owners walk around and introduce themselves.
The baked Brie is fantastic! The strawberry balsamic pizza sounds weird but it's amazing and I swear I have dreams about it, it's so good. Can't wait to see what else they have on their menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Madeleine M.Westminster, MD013Jun 25, 2018Updated review
This is a lovely laid back wine bar that also has a great tapas menu. The background music is current and varied, but in very good taste as opposed to 'heavy metal' that seems to be the choice in other bars.
We have been regulars for several years and have never been disappointed with the menu, the wine, the staff or the service. It's small but accommodates up to 6 or or more in a pinch if tables can be moved together.
They started offering "special menu entrees" on weekends and I have been really impressed by everything that I have ordered. It's always something new and unique. I strongly urge others to give it a try. Sometimes it's difficult to choose between the options without overeating!
As for some of the negative reviewers , maybe Buffalo Wild Wings would have been a better choice.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 29, 2016Previous reviewThis is a lovely laid back wine bar that also has a great tapas menu. The background music is current but in very good taste. As opposed to sports bars which are a distraction in my opinion, this little gem encourages a warm and inviting atmosphere for conversation. We really enjoy speaking with the owners, staff and other patrons. They will be opening an outdoor space in the future. Can't wait to experience that! One thing though, make sure to check hours of operation before going. I believe they are closed on Mondays. But by all means, go!

I've been hearing good things about Artisan Wine Company for some time now and it was about 2 weeks ago when I finally managed to make it down there. I think I've found my newest Westminster haunt since I've been back on consecutive weekends.
The space is cozy and the atmosphere is intimate. Low lighting, wine bottles on wooden racks and tables with cushy lounge chairs as well as pub high tops makes it a great date spot.
One would expect Artisan Wine to have a great wine selection and they do, but my wheelhouse is beer and they have probably the best craft selection in Westminster. You will find some brews you will not find anywhere else. They had Spencer Trappist Ale made by the only Trappist brewery in the US on tap. Flying Dog, Yards, Maine Brewing Co, and others were all on tap in addition to another 20+ bottles available.
Food wise, I was impressed with the Salmon Crostini and Bruschettas we tried. We also ordered pizzas. The first one we got - a Margarita - has excellent toppings but the crust was average. The second one we got - a Strawberry Balsamic Prosciutto - was much better. The crust was better plus the strange combination was really good. It was a very nice sweet and savory combo.
I've only sat at the bar but each time service has been stellar. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He's very passionate about wine and beer and that enthusiasm comes through in his interactions with customers. The owners are involved and were found running around taking orders, running food and even cleaning glasses. Cleanest glasses in Carroll County! Just check out the pic.
Do yourself a favor and check out Artisan for some tasty tapas and discover a new favorite wine and/or beer.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kathleen G.Westminster, MD245Feb 10, 2020
We've been regulars at Artisan over the last couple of years. The weekend meal specials are unique and delicious. The service is always friendly and welcoming and the wine selection is vast. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Whether we come as a couple or with a larger group, the owners have always welcomed us and ensured that we are well taken care of.

Bar staff is NOT experienced with drinks. Hospitality is lacking, and the attitude from the staff is repulsive. Food may be good, but DO NOT come here for drinks.

Been to this place 4 times now and each time it was amazing... the staff is always attentive, friendly and helpful with the wine selection (which is robust)... the outdoor patio is awesome. Flatbreads are the usual "go-tos" but everything has always been great.

I went in for a glass of wine before going out to dinner in town. Sorry - having been to wine bars in a number of different cites, I really wanted t like this place since it was so close to home. Sadly, I was really underwhelmed.
To be fair, I don't know if it was the bar tender ("Steven") or the place itself, but the bad vibe started when I first sat down. He came up and asked what I wanted (no, he didn't offer me a wine list or menu) When I said I was interested in wine and asked for a list, he asked what kind. (Please! Just give me a wine list and let me decide on my own!) Without a list (or a price) I decided on a Zinfandel. It was good, but I had to ask for a glass of water as well.
But the part that killed me was when I cashed out. I asked for the bill, and was told it was $13.08. I put $15 on the bar and the bar tender took the money and didn't even have the courtesy to bring me the change. Ok, I was planning on leaving it, but I felt it was damned presumptuous.
I left the bar with a bad feeling in my craw - so much so that I returned before dinner to confront the bar tender about it. He apologized but claimed he thought I said 'keep the change' (or something similar) but that was certainly not the case.
Next time, it will be a lot simpler if I just have a drink beforehand in the restaurant bar...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - John L.Biglerville, PA03Mar 30, 2018Updated review
This place is very inviting. The feel of the place embraces the small town charm of Westminster with an elegance on the menu that is that of a bigger city. The patio offered a quiet place for my date night.

Nov 19, 2016Previous reviewGreat place for nice meal and great drinks. The people make the difference here. The crab pesto pizza was wonderful and the beer was a nice change of pace. Highly recommend taking that special someone here for a date night.

Love the atmosphere, especially the patio. Waited over an hour for an appetizer with no apology after our server went to the service the inside crowd. Drinks were sparse because no one was around. Once appetizer arrived it was cold. Love the food/place, service has been lacking the past few visits.
