This is a SOLID KC classic. As us KC natives know, the bbq options are extremely vast, but very different.
I could literally make a frankenbbq restaurant and name it Andrea's KC BBQ! There are takeaway favorites from almost every KC bbq place.
The interior is large at this location, with plenty of seating.
The service( order line people) is what I like to call Arthur Bryant's classics. Depends on the day, and the attitude. I've had great, and then NOT so great.
The baby back ribs are a must, and have this great bark that offers a great chew. The two meat sandwich that I crave is the sliced ham, and sausage. The beans are very thick, but the flavor is great. The potato casserole really lacks salt! Easy fix AB. The sauces are what I think about 24/7. So,so different than typical KC blends, the Original is spiced and salted to within an inch of it's life! Somehow it works, and very well. The fries(usually amazing) has been oil soaked, and OLD oil at that. Onion rings? same as the fries. Again, easy fix AB.
Nostalgia keeps me coming back, along with the meats!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Brett B.Wichita, KS13879Nov 27, 2022
Excellent and unpretentious, Arthur Bryant's is KC BBQ at a reasonable price without all the fuss. I found the sandwiches to be rather large for price.

Against the advice of a local friend, I came here to pick up a burnt end sandwich on the way to the airport for a quick lunch. Drive-thru was relatively simple and there was no line on a Monday. The drive-thru attendant was polite and got the job done.
The burnt ends were loaded with a rather tart vinegary sauce, which was quite the contrast from the one I had at Joe's. The beef was reasonably tender (not as tender as Joe's) but the flavor of the meat was overwhelmed by the tangy sauce. While I prefer sour over sweet bbq sauce, this was a bit too much for me. The white bread for the sandwich was separate, which makes for a sandwich that won't disintegrate upon eating.
What small sample I had of this local institution...it wasn't bad; just not amazing.Helpful 30Thanks 0Love this 29Oh no 0 - Tessa F.Collinsville, IL12040Oct 30, 2020
THIS IS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!! The burnt ends are stew-like with soooo much sauce it was awful. The pulled pork could be placed in a toilet and it would look like a pile of s¥*t
The beans were mushy and the sliced sausage was odd. I like the skin on smoked sausage and because they slice it so thin you do not get the skin experience. When we sat down I pulled a piece of sausage to try it was out right COLD. The potato casserole was the only thing that I could eat and it definitely taste like it was a left over pan from the day before.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BELIEVE ME AND VISIT ANY OTHER BBQUE JOINT BESIDES AB Gas Station bbque is better than this waste of money Trash food they are selling here at AB.
When we got up to leave the table busser came and picked up our trays and she knows the food is such trash she didn't even ask if we wanted a to-go box!!!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 2, 2019
So let me just start off by saying that I have heard so many great things about this place and finally decided to come here after years. Walking in for the first time, the experience was a bit confusing. How my supposed to know to grab a tray and tell the dude what I want. But whatever LOL no big deal. And then they serve that barbecue so fast. Is it even fresh? It was kind of warm and not steaming hot which made it seem like it had just been sitting there for a while. Not sure I was a huge fan. The fries are really good though I will say that. And the original barbecue sauce is to die for. But the meat is only OK. Which is sad because that is what I came here to get. Overall the atmosphere was just average and no offense, but I've definitely had better barbecue here in the city.

Usually look forward to BBQ when I visit KC, Arthur's wasn't as great as the others. We ordered a sandwich, side of onion rings, quart of potato casserole, half pound of burnt ends, kids chicken fingers and 2 drinks...our total was over $40. Everything is separate and a sandwich with side and drink will cost $15+.
I didn't care for the sauce they put on the meal and each of the sauces on the table all seemed to lack flavor. They were a thick mix of a vinegar type and molasses type BBQ but didn't taste like either. It had an odd texture too.
A previous review said the casserole lacked salt and I'd agree. My husband did like the onion rings though.
I recommend trying the other numerous BBQ joints in KC prior to Arthur's.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eric G.Kansas City, MO24145130Sep 29, 2018Updated review
I've been enjoying arthur bryant's for years and I have some opinions on it.
#1. This is the best BBQ I've ever had in my life. That is saying something because I just get the beef sandwich which Is just meat and bread. 2 ingredients. The bread is so soft. You don't even have to eat it to enjoy the smokey aroma.
#2. If you ask me my favorite food ever...it might very well be arthur bryants. The entire time I was eating my sandwich, I kept shaking my head in disbelief how good it was. Especially with the original sauce. It was literally an experience.
Even the fries are fantastic. They are the same quality as 5 Guys...just the best.
You can buy arthur bryant's hats and stuff near the register, also.
5 stars. I'd say 10 stars because it's some of the best food I've ever had. Period.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 15, 2017Previous reviewI used to go to the Arthur Bryant's at Ameristar Casino all the time and the food was great. They closed that location down and I had gone years without Arthur Bryant. So glad I discovered this location because this is the best barbecue I've ever had. The fries are amazing and the sandwich is so good I can't decide if I like it more with or without the sauce. The beef sandwich is so good I would eat it with just bread and meat. It's not just food it's an experience. 5 stars easy.

We were returning something at Nebraska Furniture Mart and while driving into the Legends, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Arthur Bryants.
It was Friday around 6:00. Parking was plentiful, I suppose everyone was shopping. We were surprised cause there were plenty of empty tables. The menu you read from the wall when you walk in. They have their specials written on a chalk board in the middle of both menus.
While I considered the special, I got a short end of ribs and fries. Within seconds, it was ready. My mom was with me, and when she asked what something was, they answered, "We're out." (Really?). She got the special which was a pulled beef sandwich..
The ribs were delicious. The table had 3 sauce choices: sweet, rich and spicy and original. I liked the original. The fries were as expected, very good. I almost got in line for carrot cake but by the time I decided, the line was too long. I gave them three star for not explaining what a menu item was, instead, said "we're out." I like Arthur Bryants, and if you're in the area, this is an excellent choice to stop. Oh, and someone with children ahead of me ordered peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so it's kid friendly. But for the best BBQ, go to Jack Stacks or Joe's.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 18, 2018
Some of the best barbecue out there. I had the pork on a bun with Cole slaw. Plus a large portion of fries. Three different Bryant barbecue sauces. They have soda machines with a variety of drink options. Large portions. Highly recommend.

I came here with my coworker for lunch on a Friday. It wasn't busy when we came there after 12pm. There was plenty of parking as well. It was a long time since I've been to Arthur Bryant's but was in the mood for burnt ends. The menu was physically large so it was easy to read.
I ordered the Burnt Ends with fries ($11.35) and a soda ($2.60). It took a few minutes after telling them what I wanted to order. We sat down at a table near the entrance. The Burnt Ends were good and I liked the spicy BBQ sauce out of the three (original, sweet, and spicy) BBQ sauces. The bread that came with the food was nothing special and the fries were good in my opinion. I was full when I finished my food.
This place was good for BBQ if you're in the area.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
