We had an amazing meal here.
I had Grilled Yellowfin Tuna which was so tender and tasty.
My husband had Grilled Bronzino (Bass) which was delicious.
Not cheap - but well worth the money.
We booked ahead of time-but still had to wait on our table which wasn't ideal - but the food was well worth the wait.
If you like seafood - then you'll really enjoy Aquagrill.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 15, 2020

Been a regular patron for the last two decades, so this review is well overdue. For the best selection of oysters in NYC, look no further. Roughly 25 different types of oysters available nightly from both coasts, you can always find something for your palate. Last night, I had a hankering for these delectable bivalves, therefore a visit to Aquagrill was necessary.
Two of us ordered three dozen oysters from both coasts to start, which were absolutely amazing. They do a great job selecting and cleaning these plump juicy little suckers, I just can't get enough. My favorites were Hama Hama (WA) and Pemaquid (ME). However, Stretch Island (WA), Lucky Lime (PEI), North Bay Cove (WA), and Skookum (WA) were all delicious.
A must have for me every time at Aquagrill is the fantastic Billi Bi French Mussel Soup. The saffron and cream blends beautifully with the flavors of the mussels to form one of my favorite soups ever. We finished the meal sharing some Fresh Maine Periwinkles, Roasted Peekytoe Crab Cake Napoleon, and Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, which were all very good.
Throughout the meal, the service was friendly and attentive as always. Bartender Ted mixed some great drinks for us as well. Restaurant itself is spacious and comfortable. Aquagrill will forever be on the top of my list whenever I'm in the mood for seafood.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Sep 21, 2019
Saturday night dinner with my kid who is now a teenager who loves to dine out just like her mom.
I've had lunch here and had some oysters, which are very good. Very beautifully presented and fresh.
For dinner tonight, we shared a lobster salad as an appetizer. We liked that they split the salad into two plates, with a lobster claw and half a tail each. The salad was delicious, with avocado, beets, mesclun greens and a champagne vinaigrette.
The bread they put on the table was phenomenal and sooo worth the carbs! A corn bread stick with kernels of corn. An onion focaccia that was so fresh and flavorful.
I had the scallops with a crab risotto, which was flavored with what tasted like lobster bisque with sherry. The sugar snap peas provided a nice crunch. I loved every bite.
My kid had the truffle cod with mushroom ravioli. I enjoyed the taste I had of this dish as well.
For dessert, we shared a coconut panna cotta with tropical fruit and passion fruit sauce. What wonderful flavors! We also had some complimentary cookies, which were yummy.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - May 18, 2019
Acquagrill is a well-established restaurant on the corner of Spring Street & 6th Avenue. The restaurant is quite airy during the spring and summer since they can have their doors wide open into the street side walk. While standing outside of the restaurant, one would note the comfortable busy bar with many variety of oysters sitting practically in front of you.
Whenever I am in SoHo, Aquagrill is always one of my stops regardless if I am having lunch or dinner elsewhere. They are the best when it comes to raw oysters. There are very few restaurants where one can find over twelve or more variety of oysters all fresh, cold, and properly shucked like Aquagrill. In addition, the rest of the restaurant seafood menu dish selections are also very good and fresh.
And what is also impressive is that they maintain a wonderful list of fine wines which provides all together a delightful dining experience.Helpful 31Thanks 0Love this 25Oh no 0 - May 17, 2019
It's understandable why this restaurant appears on most of the top or best lists including Zagat...and why it's a favorite of our friends. Thank you to D & J for introducing us to a great experience.
This Soho restaurant is owned by the Marshalls -- a couple who've found a winning combination. He as chef in the kitchen;she as overseer of the wine. It's been around since 1996 and is now considered a classic.
Our reservations were honored and we were seated immediately. Service throughout was very very attentive.
The amuse bouche was tuna tartar served in small spoons. They give you 3 types of bread -- a corn stick with jalapeños, focaccia bread, and a slice of French baguette.
After cocktails, we started with a shared order of tuna tartar. And I had an off the menu "made just for me" order of baked stuffed clams. 4 midsize clams to an order with garlic, Parmesan, and bread crumbs; the clams were chopped chunkily and served in the shell. So delish I licked the shells.
For entrees, we had a couple orders of the mushroom truffle crusted cod which was served over creamed spinach. Plus a bouillabaisse with the largest prawn I've ever seen (plus shrimp, clams, mussels) in a saffron broth. And an order of baked scallops served with a crab risotto. Everything scrumptious!
Desserts (we shared) were a black walnut pie and an apple tart topped with cinnamon ice cream.
If you have a special occasion, this is the place to go and celebrate. Even if not, prices are inline with a good seafood restaurant. Anything you order will not disappoint.Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Cathy Consumer C.Columbia, SC039Apr 12, 2023
The food is absolutely delicious, the presentation beautiful. Our server was extremely professional and explained each of the different oysters we ordered, what body of water they came from, how they would taste all before we ordered them. Our meal was scrumptious. This place is iconic, decorated exquisitely. The bar is gorgeous and was full of beautiful people. Everything about Aquagrill was a pleasant experience.

Easily one of the best seafood restaurants in NY.
Quality food with quality service. The protected outdoors seating is nice anytime of the day.
Not my cup of tea but there is a large selection of oysters. I had one and it was very fresh.
For appetizers, I highly recommend either the cod cakes or crab cakes, both were a hit at the table and were devoured in seconds. The warm octopus salad was also delicious, a healthy option if you want to avoid something fried.
On to the entrees, the miso glazed sea bass was my favorite. Perfectly cooked and seasoned sea bass, just the right amount of miso flavor. I do think there could've been less kimchi and more string beans. The truffle crusted cod was flaky fall apart in your mouth goodness. The truffle sauce with the big hen of the wood mushroom really compliments the entire dish perfectly. I could've used one more ravioli. That seemed to be the theme, everything was so good I just wanted more.
Last but not least, dessert. The caramelized mango tart is the way to go. If you are having a hard time deciding, it's the ultimate choice. The mascarpone cheese and the puff pastry topped with a little macadamia ice cream is the way to go. If you're a coconut lover, the coconut pannacotta was full of coconut flavor. While the warm apple tart is always a safe classic.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 18, 2019Updated review
Even after 3 years - this place continues to serve good food! Specializing in seafood - prepared in many ways.
This time I tried the special sea bass with truffles sauce and mushroom risotto.
I highly recommend this place for people who love seafood. They really know how to prepare seafood.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 21, 2015Previous reviewBelieve it or not, we just ate our pizza and brought home the portion we couldn't finish. But as we stopped by here, we were tempted to have cocktails which ended up having soup for me instead. The person who proposed to stop for a glass of wine copied me to have soup as well. But I also had some oysters.
The third person with us who did not feel like eating some more had the glass of wine.
I ordered the Billibi soup - classic French mussel soup. It was perfect! The flavor is exactly what I remember reminiscent of earlier days when you'd see it in French restaurant menus.
The reason why I couldn't resist ordering oysters was because they were very large - worth what I pay for each.
I've been to this restaurant before for other seafood dinners before contributing to Yelp! One thing I vouch, food here is still very good and very freshly done. Service was a little off this night though. We waited very long for our soup.
But for good food, I highly recommend this place! - 70010586367Jun 19, 2018

Fun and Casual is this fabulous seafood restaurant. Appreciating Brian so much for his calmness on the phone, by accommodating my reservation to be 45 minutes later on a busy Friday night, for my flight was delayed and heavy traffic into Manhattan-TY!
Once there and seated, for appetizers: beautifully shucked "Oysters"; deliciously garlicky, hard-to-pry-into sea snails "Periwinkles"; sweet and tart mango sauce over a "Soft Shell Crab". - As for the entrees, wonderful was the "Sea Scallops"; bit too salty was the "Miso-Glazed Sea Bass"; and, the dish I'll come back for is their phenomenal "Truffle Crusted Casco Bay Cod" ++++++ a true wowzer!
Service was good except for our table needing to constantly ask for additional drinks from their impressive wine list and refills of their yummy breads. Still, a wonderful time we all had and when I think of casual and great seafood, I'll think of here!
CHEERS!Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 21Oh no 0 - Mar 23, 2018
Always such a treat to eat here! The seafood is fresh, top-notch quality, and each dish is expertly prepared in a way that brings out the best flavors of each fish. I'm a big fan of their sea scallops and sea bass entrees, but honestly everything that I've tried here has been delicious.
However, what really makes this restaurant shine is its service. The staff is wonderfully professional, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about each dish/fish. If you're unsure about which oysters to choose from (and trust me, you will be conflicted!), they're happy to make recommendations and bring out oysters based on your preferences. Last time we entrusted them to choose a variety for us, and we had a nice mix of West and East Coast oysters.
Oh and I can't forget to mention - the desserts here are spectacular! During my last visit for a friend's birthday, we had the dessert special, which was some sort of mango tart with passionfruit puree and homemade macadamia nut ice cream. It was sooo good, and the birthday girl left both full and very happy!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0
