A warm and welcoming Presbyterian Church with an excellent music program.
It's called the "Church of the Astronauts" because many of members have been astronauts and engineers from nearby NASA Johnson Space Center.
They celebrate Lunar Communion each year on the Sunday closest to the July 21 Lunar Landing.
During that Mission, Buzz Aldrin famously took communion in Space. There's a glass case in the Narthex that documents the Lunar Communion.
The stained glass windows creatively depicts images of Space Nebula as seen by the Hubble Telescope.
The entire church is a testament to the harmonious intersection of Science and Faith.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Liza H.San Diego, CA02Sep 30, 2016
I live in San Jose, California, but have family in Houston who attend Webster. Every time I've come to visit, they've been so welcoming, friendly and inviting, which made me feel right at home. That's so important in a church community!

I am a non-believer, but I go to this church regularly (which in and of itself tells you something).
So many things @Webster Presbyterian touch my heart. People - kind, wise, generous, searching... They cooked for me when I was ill, and drove me to the airport, and took care of my children, and discussed basketball and Russian history... Pastors - true leaders, to whom you can come with you hard questions as well as in the time of suffering (Helen got me surprised with her psychological insight and experience during marriage counseling; Keith, on dozens of occasions, made me think deeply (and sometimes laugh) during sermons and studies). Traditions - take for example the Lunar Communion - it started when Buzz Aldrin was part of the ceremony while standing on the Moon. Music - I heard Glenn conduct a Christmas Cantata, and it was up there, at the level of my best classical music experiences. I could go on and on... It's a great church...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anya E.Houston, TX03Sep 30, 2016
Love this church. For those seeking a deeper knowledge of God, a community that is open to inquiry, open to different views and eager to dive deep, this is a perfect family of faith. My children, my husband and I have been members for four years, and we could not have wished for a more loving, accepting and supporting family. From the fine arts exhibit in the sanctuary, to the EarthCare green initiatives, to the Clown ministry and multiple adult education opportunities on both religious and intellectual topics, this place is vibrant and everyone will find in it a welcoming home.

Webster Presbyterian Church is "the Astronauts' church," since it was the church attended by the famous astronauts of the 1960's and 1970's. A positive result of that history is that the church has a healthy relationship with science and faith. Unfortunately, that energetic group of young astronauts has turned to energetic silver-haired retirees--energetic retirees who expend very little energy on membership. They're not working hard enough to keep their congregation growing, thus younger and more diverse. While this church is beautiful, has a great history, and is full of interesting people, I would love for my children to have significantly more kids with whom to grow in faith. I wish this interesting congregation the very best!
