I have been here twice, both on weekends when I couldn't get in to the regular vet and I have had nothing but positive experiences. The first time was in November after I'd taken a two week trip out of the country. I'd left Teddy with a sitter and he ended up with a laceration that was not cared for. I walked in my house and gasped and called this place right away. They were pretty busy but once they saw his leg they took us back right away. The doctor and the RVT had the best bedside manner and were able to get him stitched up and provided antibiotics and light pain meds. This time, I took Teddy (small poodle mix) on a walk and I heard a yelp behind me, turned around and he was limping. The neighborhood has a lot of acorns and stickers so I thought there might be something like that stuck on his paw. I couldn't find anything. He kept trying to walk on three legs and I finally had to pick him up and carry him home where he immediately passed out. I was hoping I wasn't over reacting but this was unusual behavior for him so I called in.They told me to be there within the hour. Once again when I arrived a vet tech came and brought him straight back. I waited about an hour and a half in another room and the vet that was caring for him said he couldn't find anything wrong with him and Teddy was smiling and walking just fine! He was very kind and asked me to look over him once more to make sure I was comfortable leaving and said if he acts up again to come back as they have 24 hour service. He also advised he wouldn't charge me and that my dog was very sweet and a pleasure to care for. I was very taken back by his kindness (wish I had gotten his name) and would definitely come back and recommend my friends and family to this facility.

Needs more professional vets. Spent $600 tryna help my dog and he dies the very next day. My dog's name is Bowser. He was a really sweet dog. I feel like I got robbed of my money and my best friend.

I've been taking my dog that's four years old there staff is very snappy especially that Mikayla girl doctors are very kind, but your staff is shit. y'all need to figure out new staff getting hung up in my face is a very disrespectful thing. I called back and she's like I was trying to tell you what to do and you should bring them out there blah blah blah which is fine I was gonna do it awarded, but she wants to be very rude and hang up in my face seriously 10 out of 10. Don't fucking recommend.

This place is the worst, I called them and told them I had a emergency and if I could come in and get my dog seen, the vet said yes come, we will be waiting on you. I get there 20 min later and they tell me that there is a wait and that we need to wait. Take your beautiful animals somewhere else who cares about them.

DO NOT under any circumstance, bring your unwell/dying pet here. This place is not the place that WANTS to save your pets life. They could've done everything to save my baby, and their only option for me was to put them down, because I did not have the funds. They asked me what I wanted to do before they tried saving my animal. They COULDVE SAVED HIM! But CHOSE not to. They JUST WANT MONEY!!!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE. This place needs to be sued and shut DOWN!

If I could give them a 0 star, I would. Took my dying dog to get put down and they overcharged me. Took advantage of our situation. The receptionist gave us a price over the phone, and when my husband went there they charged us 3 times more. Sketchy people and scammers work there. Unprofessional, unethical. We have left many messages for the manager to return our calls, and nothing yet. No transparency from this clinic.
Do not take your pets here.
FYI: If you need to cremate your pet, we highly recommend Pet Passages
they are the best in the whole state of Oklahoma. They will treat you and your pet like their own family. Excellent service, prices are reasonable, they have a rainbow room where, like a small living room you can spend time with your pet before they cremate them. Very homey place, the owners Brenda and her sister are so sweet and will pray with you and your pet before the cremation. The gift bags are so detailed. They put so much effort into their work and make you feel so much better that every penny you spend is worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - N D.Oklahoma City, OK04Apr 26, 2023
This is the only place I take my animals to when they have an emergency. Is it expensive? Yes, because it's an ER. I've brought everyone from my 11 year old pit to my year old pup and each time they've been well taken care of. The staff is great, too. When I brought my pup, Frank, here, they called him "our Frank" and even though he didn't make it, I knew they did everything they could to save him. He was just too far gone.
I love them so much that when they asked if my dog, Mulligan, could be a blood donor dog, I didn't hesitate. I know they'll keep Mulligan safe and knowing he can help other dogs makes me happy.
While they are a vet, they are still a business, so treating animals will cost you money. It's not that they don't want to save your animals lives; theyre there for the community and in order to be there for us, they need to keep the lights on. It sucks, it really does. But pet insurance is really good to have and care credit and scratchpay are great alternatives.
Please don't hesitate to take your animals here if they need emergency care.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sam I.Manhattan, New York, NY36361May 18, 2022
Take your hard earned money elsewhere. As a medical professional myself, I understand that this line of work can be difficult, but Dr. Elizabeth Gray's incompetence on multiple fronts is reason alone to avoid this place. We took my cat in for a simple urinary tract infection and Dr. Gray prescribed an off-label injectable antibiotic (Convenia) to treat my cat. Because I am not an animal expert and because I did not have the mental capacity at the time to thoroughly research the efficacy of this antibiotic on my own at midnight after a long day, I put my trust into Dr. Gray and her clinical decision making skills.
After a few days, my cat continued to have incontinence and didn't clear the infection with the first treatment. Due to those issues, I had to go back to my regular vet to re-start my cat on a different antibiotic and re-do her labs, which ended up coming incurring additional costs. After asking for a partial refund from OKC Animal Emergency Services, I was woken up to a hostile phone call from Dr. Gray the next morning at 7AM where she argued with me on the phone in order to defend her clinical incompetence. Instead of answering any of my questions, she talked over me during the entire phone call while playing victim after I had called her clinical skills into question. Her hostility, inability to listen, and utter disrespect for her clients made for a frustrating experience.
I've chosen to submit this review, as the rest of the management team has not responded to my last email and have not returned my calls the last few times I have called them. At this point, I believe it is safe to assume that my refund will not be issued and that an apology from Dr. Gray's end will also not be coming in the near or distant future.
But don't take my word for it. Read the dozens of other negative reviews on here as well. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and it's tough to communicate to people at odd hours of the night or when people are swimming in a million thoughts because their fur babies are sick. But the trends here are clear in showing that this breakdown between pet parent and vet is not a one-off event. Even more concerning than the negative reviews to me, is the fact that management of this place responds to its negative posts in such a childish and wanton manner. From openly discussing one lady's credit card declining four times to insulting the intelligence of their clients behind the keyboard, the arrow only points in one direction for me.
To the management that obviously did not read my last email and still wish to defend the use of Convenia in feline urinary tract infections, an article from the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery from 2019 (doi: 10.1177/1098612X19880435) stated that treatment should be confined to a few first-line choices. Additionally, the use of Convenia has only been proven efficacious in a specific subset of bacterial urinary tract infections in the original Merck sponsored trials (doi: 10.1111/j.1748-5827.2008.00545.x), and that the use of Convenia should be reserved for situations where use of oral antibiotics for the animal are problematic according to best practice measures from Veterinary Medicine International in 2011 (doi: 10.4061/2011/263768).
I would not have posted this review if Dr. Gray's phone call in the morning didn't turn so sour. A simple apology from Dr. Gray and from the management team even without a monetary refund would have made sure this review never saw the light of day. After trying to resolve this issue internally, it bothers me to escalate my problems on a public forum and hurt a local business, but I felt far too disrespected by the radio silence and the lack of closure from Animal Emergency Center. From start to finish, the service from this place was sub-par and your time and money are better spent elsewhere.Helpful 9Thanks 3Love this 0Oh no 1 - Sandra B.Midwest City, OK63Aug 15, 2023
The vet that looked after my beloved Jack Russell Izzy killed her. I brought her to them at the recommendation of my vet. she was struggling hard to breathe, but they didn't have oxygen or the means to diagnose correctly. so I went to Animal Emergency and told them repeatedly that she couldn't breathe. Unfortunately, I also told the emergency vet that my regular vet was going to do a test the next Tuesday to see if Izzy had Cushing's disease. instead of listening to me telling about her inability to breathe, the vet fixated on Cushing's disease. He did not take a chest x-ray, he did not put her on oxygen, and he insisted she had Cushing's and I should take her home and wait for the Cushing's test. By the time my own vet diagnosed her with severe pneumonia and an enlarged heart, I rushed her to Neel Hospital. They tried to help but she died within hours of my taking her home. The Animal Emergency did NOT EVER call me to check on her. They charged me almost $700 to kill my beloved Izzy. Keep your pets away from this place. They DO NOT CARE.
