Amian

Stopped in for lunch. Nice and quiet location. We ordered two lunch specials which were both very good. The Garlic Chicken was really tasty and somewhat spicy. The Hunan Pork was also very good and spicy. We were very impressed! We had enough for another meal at home. Very good value.

Stopped by for dinner. We called to see if they were open for dine in because they had only been open for take out for a while. Signs on door say new ownership. We ordered some dishes to split. We had chicken lo mien, Egg fu young, cream cheese wontons and egg rolls. There was plenty for three people we had left overs to take home. We were given a surprise dessert of their donuts. They are so yummy. Were happy they are open again for dine in. Well be back.

Wanted Asian for dinner tonight and decided to go to Amian. They had been only open for take out but their dining in was now open. We ordered egg roll, cream cheese wontons, chicken lo mein and egg fu young. Everything was very good plenty of food for all. Very glad their dine in is now open.

We have been looking for awesome, local Asian options. Our go-to was always The Village Wok when we lived in Saint Paul, but after they closed in Stadium Village a few years ago -- we have been seeking other awesome venues.

NOTE: There's a sign in the window that says "under new management" and the health department license shows it's effective 1/1/2023 so I can't speak for the former owners, so perhaps consider that when looking at older reviews (under old management).

Tonight we ordered takeout for the first time. We had 3 entrees and two appetizers.

General Tso's tofu: fantastic crispy tofu, covered in a savory barbecue-like sauce. Perfect texture, not soggy or overcooked.

Crispy vegetable spring rolls: excellent, smaller than a standard egg roll, with finely-chopped vegetable filling.

Vegetable lo mein: bright noodles, with a slight smoky char from the hot pan. Garlic, fresh onion, mushroom, broccoli, bean sprouts, carrots.

Chicken egg foo young: three dumplings, with a brown gravy. Very good, but we wished it came with a bit more gravy.

Donuts: fun addition, with 9ish fresh donuts coated in cinnamon sugar.

The serving sizes are absolutely generous, served in clamshell containers, rather than paper boxes. Easily 12-16oz per entree. Large portion of fresh rice to accompany the tofu and the egg foo young.

We'll definitely be ordering again, and we are happy this is so close to is in Hugo.

I went for a quick lunch on a Sunday. The service was great and the server was polite and attentive. I ordered the Beef Chow Fun which is a staple of many Chinese restaurants and a dish I use to judge the quality. It was fresh and cooked well, the beef was velveted nicely and was tender. They added green and red peppers which was new to me but the crunch of the peppers worked with the rest of the dish. For a Chinese restaurant in a small town in MN, this place will most likely exceed your expectations!

It was very good and very big servings, the customer service was very good. They were all very kind and even packed up our food for us.

Loved the Lo Mein, Beef and Cashew, and the wontons. Looking forward to ordering again

Me and my son used to go there at least once per week. The food and service was always spectacular. Then the manager/hostess turned rude and I stopped going.
I was excited about new owners. We got takeout the other night. Nothing was inedible,yet nothing was tasty. It was like mediocre buffet food.

Received this in my fairly expensive meal tonight & the chicken does not seem edible. Brought it back in to see if I could have sesame chicken made instead & they refused. Pretty disappointed as I've lived in Hugo 15+ years & have been coming to Amian for a long time. Staff didn't even act sincere & really acted like this looked like something anyone would want to eat. I won't be going here again or ever recommending to anyone.

I ordered extra spice and loved it!
