Great choice and the pasta is nicely prepared. They seemed to be bread or olives for some tables but I don't think we "rated" but it was good nonetheless. Pasta portions are large so if you get a starter you be best to order an appetizer size for an main.

This is a fun, lively restaurant serving Italian fare. The food was good but unfortunately the kitchen and waitstaff were clearly understaffed. Service was friendly but they were frantically trying to serve all the tables. The starters came out quickly but our mains took nearly an hour. After complaining they comped our desserts which was a very much appreciated gesture.
The ravioli was tasty and I liked the butter sauces. The pollo Milanese was also well prepared.
Worth checking out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 31, 2018
Quite good classic Italian cuisine, well executed, and excellent service (a good sign: waitstaff were all Italians!). It's location in Cabot Square of the Canary Wharf area borders the water (former dockyards - but clean and picturesque now) and on this balmy Thursday night, the restaurant was hopping with the after-work crowd, downing convivial and reviving aperitifs at the outside tables.
We decided to go all out with antipasti, primi, and secondi. We shared antipasti of mixed cured meats (always good - who can say no to a platter of prosciutto and parmigiano?); a terrific tender-crisp calamari; and a nice ripe Caprese salad. For the pastas, we had: A spaghetti in beef ragu which was rich and meaty and perfectly al dente (after our collective sighs, this was also the best in our collective opinions); a very satisfying tortellini in mushroom cream sauce (second best!); and a very good spaghetti with tomato cream sauce and lobster (third best - but really, all were excellent!). For secondi, we had: A fine veal saltimbocca, pan-seared branzino, and oven-roasted chicken with wild mushrooms. All delicious, best to us was the saltimbocca. On the downside, however, we were sadly too full to partake of any dessert and we waddled out of there replete and happy, and glad to stroll (or roll?) slowly along the wharves.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Gwen T.London, United Kingdom52864Jul 23, 2016
So after repeating eat-sleep-work pattern for the past 2 weeks, I finally decided to come out of my shell to catch up with friends. It wasn't till 8:30pm that we managed to sit down and have a proper dinner. Well no..not really 8:30 more like 9pm given that one of my friend was running late.
Still, the place was busy even though it's well past dinner time! Service was very attentive and waiter had a good sense of humour. We tried the olives (omg, nothing like those supermarket or some other Italian restaurant nonsense), it was so good!! It was slightly creamy but also with a tinge of salt and crisp taste! Next up - calamari and garlic bread. The calamari wasn't the best that I've tasted but it was still good. Whereas for garlic bread, don't expect the American kind of garlic bread, it's good ol' simple garlic bread.
As for mains, I had the roasted peppers penne pasta with a touch of cream and crispy pancetta. Hmm..this is good! Nothing like that overly sickly tasting carbonara sauce that you have at other places. Thinking back about it now, I am craving for it!
Moving onto desserts - I wish I had more tummy space, but alas! The pasta and starters that I've shared with my friends had filled me up quite well. No sweat people, my friend ordered the almond cake with house made ice cream. ohlala! It was epic! The cake was so light (sweet of course) and the ice cream was one of the best that I've had - maybe it was due to the fact that all the components had alcohol in it - as such I've promised myself that I'll head back for their classic tiramisu soon.
To be honest, I didn't know of this place till I saw reviews on yelp but thank you Yelp!! You've found me a wee gem in the wharf!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 6, 2010First to Review
On a recent trip to London and staying in the Canary Wharf business district, I happened upon this place on my first night of jet laggedness. I was early, so there was only one other table occupied but I wasn't too worried about the lack of customers. I agonized back and forth with the unfamiliar menu and finally settled on two of the courses from the specials menu.
First course- pancetta with mixed greens (which were fine) and smoked goat's cheese. The cheese was indeed smoked and had that flavor and aroma you only get via smoking. However the cheese was rubbery like a balloon or something. Too bad.
Second course- short rib risotto. This was quite nice and a huge portion so I was certainly filled up but I did want dessert.
Dessert course- Sadly this too was disappointing as I could tell this was not fresh but a bought in dessert that they dressed up on the plate. The pastry, instead of flaky, was chewy.
To sum up- M'ehHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristine T.London, United Kingdom2302021126Jul 1, 2015
While everything seemed to be packed around Canary Wharf, this place was almost empty so we decided to sit down, as we had quite a large group of people. The drinks selection is quite short and I'd just recommend you get a pint of peroni. However there's a few snacks to have with your drink at £4.50 each and they are pretty decent. I had the calamari and it went well with my beer and one of my friends had the chicken wings and she was happy with them too. I didn't think this is a place to seek out but you can definitely enjoy a nice pint by the river in the summer months and escape the heat.

The flavor of the food was excellent and the service just as good. Three of us each had different anti pasta, entree and dessert and all said the same thing. We will come back next time we are in Canary Wharf. I like simple reviews. There you have it.

Canary Wharf tends to be populated by noisy/crowded bars and/or chain establishment, so this full service Italian (and nearby branch of Relais Entrecote) make a pleasant change
Good food, good service, reasonable prices.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
